Documents necessary for a Study Abroad Application
The study abroad application is the most important step in your overseas education. It is crucial to plan and start working months ahead to secure admission to your dream institution or course.
Tumblr media
These are the major documents that you will need to apply to universities abroad:
1. Application Form
This is an important document because it includes all personal and professional details. The application form needs to be filled out carefully with the correct information. Make sure to check twice before submitting.
2. Statement of Purpose (SOP)
Another important component of your application is the SOP. This is an essay in which
you will describe your background, your reason for pursuing your program at the stated university, and your career goals. Take the time and effort to write your SOP essay as this will help your application stand out in the crowd of thousands of candidates.
3. Academic Transcripts
This is your academic record, similar to a mark sheet in India, which will include all the courses you have taken with your grades, credits and the degree received.
4. Letter of Recommendation (LOR)
LOR is an academic letter of recommendation from any of your professors or managers that talks about skills, achievements, experience and contributions to your college or professional organisation. The letter enables the admission council to get an insight into your life and accordingly decide your admission.
5. Curriculum Vitae (CV) or Resume
A CV or a resume will give comprehensible insight into your academic and professional time line. Do not forget to mention all your degrees, certificates, internships, and relevant work experience but don't go overboard. It is a good idea to run the draft by your counsellor first before submitting.
6. Test Scores
As mentioned before, your scores will affect your chance to get into your desired university or college. Therefore, it is mandatory to send your test scores with your application.
Many countries and institutions demand your English language proficiency test scores like IELTS (International English Language Testing System) to ensure you can read, speak and write in English effectively besides being able to converse.
Based on your choice of country and institution, you might also be required to take more general standardised tests such as SAT or GRE.
Final Thoughts
Ensure that you apply to your chosen universities or colleges before the deadline.
Tumblr media
To take the hassle out of the tedious application procedure, you can get in touch with Education Matters. They are the best study abroad consultants. Their experienced international education specialists will guide you through the entire journey of applying to your dream university!

What is IELTS and why is it important for students ?
IELTS is the most popular test for those looking to migrate to Australia, Canada, New Zealand and the UK. It is globally recognised by more than 11,000 employers, universities, schools and immigration bodies including 3,400 institutions in the USA.
Tumblr media
History of IELTS
The English Language Testing Service (IELTS) was launched in 1980 by Cambridge English Language Assessment (known as UCLES back then) and the British Council.
The format was simple and innovative which reflected changes in language learning and teaching. IELTS gave growth in communicative language learning. The test task was intended to reflect the use of the English language in the real world.
What is IELTS?
The International English Language Testing System (IELTS) is designed to help you work, study or migrate to a country where English is the native language. Countries such as Australia, Canada, New Zealand, the UK and USA are countries where English is the native language.
IELTS is graded on a scale of 1-9 where your English language skills are measured with band scores. IELTS is jointly owned by the British Council, IDP: IELTS Australia and Cambridge Assessment English.
Why you need IELTS?
English is the third most spoken language in the world. There are 379 million speakers worldwide.
If you are looking to work, live or study in an English-speaking country, then you must be able to demonstrate proficiency in the English language.
The ability to communicate in the native language of the country you wish to work or study in has a wide range of benefits. This is essential if you're looking for job opportunities as well as integrating into a foreign community.
IELTS Modules
There are two modules of IELTS:
Academic Module
IELTS Academic is intended for those who want to enrol in universities and other institutions of higher education and for professionals such as medical doctors and nurses who want to study or practise in an English-speaking country.
General Training Module
IELTS General Training is intended for those planning to undertake non-academic training mainly to gain work experience or for immigration purposes.
The IELTS test is divided into four parts:
●      Listening: 30 minutes (plus 10 minutes' transfer time)
●      Reading: 60 minutes
●      Writing: 60 minutes
●      Speaking: 11–14 minutes
The total test time is 2 hours and 45 minutes.

Know the easy application process of Canadian Universities in 3 Mins
There is an abundance of reasons for Canada being the most sought study destination. If you are an aspiring student looking to apply to Canadian universities, then you have made a great choice in a study destination.
Tumblr media
Let us understand how the application process works with Canadian universities.
Application Process
There is no centralised application process for universities/colleges in Canada. You will have to apply online on the individual university's websites. The application process will also vary in different provinces.
 Admission Process
●      Select the program of interest and university you want to study in. If unsure, go through the best abroad consultants, Education Matters. They aid students with the application process.
 ●      Next, you will choose the level of study that includes Undergraduate/ Diploma/ Advanced Diploma Master's/ Postgraduate Certificate/ Post-Degree Diploma, and PhD. Program.
 ●      You will also have to choose between the Fall, Winter, and Spring intake since some programs will have many admission cycles.
 ●      If location is an important factor, then explore universities situated in different provinces in Canada.
 ●      Once you narrowed down your preferences, you can get in touch with Education Matters. You will be provided with information on the application process. Get extra information on deadlines, seat availability, admission requirements, and scholarship options.
 ●      Register your application on the specific university portal and fill in the application form with your details.
 ●      Upload the necessary documents before the document submission deadline.
 ●      You can apply for any scholarships in Canada if the student meets the respective eligibility criteria. Afterwards, the university will contact you with an admission offer, mostly by email. You must then confirm your acceptance to be admitted to the university.
The last step is to apply for a study permit in Canada.
 Study Permit
A Study Permit is not a visa. The Citizen and Immigration (CIC) issue the permit to students. This document allows you to study in Canada. If you have a study permit, you must remain enrolled and make reasonable and timely progress towards completing your course.
A study permit is always accompanied by a visitor visa or Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA), which allows you to enter Canada.
 Final Word
If you don't know how to go about the visa process, there is a way. Indian students who apply to universities and colleges in Canada can get faster visa processing through the Study Direct Stream (SDS) program launched by the Immigration and Refugee Board of Canada.
Tumblr media
Education Matters can help you with the visa and application process along with financial statement preparation. They also give guidance and training for mock interviews. Get in touch with Education Matters, the best abroad consultants in Chennai and Hyderabad.

Important Documents students need to get a Canadian Visa
Indian students wishing to study abroad are granted the opportunity to do by the Canadian Government. That being said, the Canadian Government requires some documents to be submitted by the students: a Study Permit and a Temporary Resident Visa (TRV).
Tumblr media
Apart from this, you will be submitting additional documents which will be listed below.
 Study Permit
A Study Permit is not a Visa. Rather, it is a permit issued by the Citizen and Immigration, the CIC. It allows you to study in Canada. When you become a holder of the study permit, you must continue the enrollment and make coherent and steady progress towards finishing your course.
This is beneficial because a Visitor Visa or an Electronic Travel Authorization will come along with your Study Permit. While a study permit is a document that allows you to study in Canada, a Visitor Visa or an ETA lets you only enter Canada. With the help of a counsellor, you can get the latest information and connect with approved migration experts.
 Documents you need to compile
To apply for your study permit, you require:
1. An Acceptance Letter from your Education Institutions
2. Attested copies of 10th, 12th and Degree Certificates
3. 2 Academic References
4. 2 Employer References
5. Statement of Purpose
6. A Valid Passport/ Travel Document
7. Any Certificates relating to extracurricular activities
8. Proof of financial savings
9. Passport Size photographs
10. Any additional requirements requested by the University
11. Translated versions of documents if not issued in English
12. Ensure you are a law-abiding citizen with no criminal record and pose no risk to the security of Canada
13. Ensure you are in good health through a medical exam
 Financial Documents
1. Proof of funding
2. Proof you have the money to pay for living expenses for yourself and any family members that are accompanying you
3. Prove you can pay for the return journey for yourself or your accompanying family members
4. Bank Statements
5. Proof of your ability to financially support yourself and any accompanying family members
6. Documentation of an education loan, if any, from a financial institution
7. Proof of tuition payment and accommodation fees
8. A formal letter if a person or institution is providing your funding
9. Documentation of a Canadian Bank Account in your name if money has been transferred to Canada

Why is it a great choice for students to study in Canada?
Canada consistently ranks as one of the best countries in the world and is currently at No.1 for providing the best quality of life. Canada is popularly known for its pro-immigration stance, as it seeks to address two key challenges: labour shortages among highly skilled workers and an aging populace. Canada actively seeks out skilled immigrants, employing a points-based immigration system that prioritizes entrants based on educational attainment, prior work experience, language skills and age.
One of the main reasons behind Canada's popularity among students is its affordable quality education. The Canadian government funds heavily on higher education and is among the top countries to spend per capital on post-secondary education.
Tumblr media
A survey by the Canadian Bureau for International Education (CBIE) found that educational quality, Canada's multicultural society, and perceptions of safety topped students' list of reasons for enrolling in Canadian institutions.
Moreover, the Canadian government made two moves in 2016 that would increase the nation's appeal among international students. First, it revised its Express Entry Visa program to make it easier for international students to apply for permanent residence. Second, international students will receive points for academic credentials earned in Canada. This change is expected to increase the percentage of international students among those invited to apply for residency under Express Entry from 30 to 40 per cent.
The Canadian government also introduced legislation that would ease citizenship requirements for international students.
 Conclusion
Student immigration is dramatically reshaping Canadian cities, especially immigration hubs like Toronto, Montreal and Vancouver. If current immigration levels hold steady, it is estimated that the immigrant population could increase from 20.1 per cent in 2011 to 30 per cent in 2036.
