Samael as an angel.

Ok I was gonna reveal this cleverly through a series of comics/asks/whatever but i am tired so I’m dumping exposition here.

Samael was a twin to Raziel (same as Azazel is to Zadkiel) and they were to share the role of Heaven’s keepers of secrets and divine information. Samael, to cut it short, was kind of cruel as a kid. He was considerably more efficient of the two, and often held this over Raziel’s head, belittled him and always aimed to get a rise out of him, for his own ‘fun’. I wouldn’t call him the ‘evil’ twin because,, in the end,, they’re both assholes. Sam also got along very well with the other archangels (especially Lucifer), while Raziel could not.

I like to think of Samael as Heaven’s,, ‘critical thinker’ or,,, some weird kind of philosopher. He, like Raziel, was to overhear God’s words (in canon mythology Raziel sits beside God’s throne and hears and writes down everything He says (yes that is why i gave him long ears)) and this lead to him being extra curious and he began thinking a lot… a little too much. He began becoming sceptical to Heaven and God’s ways, but not even exactly in a way that opposed his Father. You could say his ideas were ‘controversial’.

His ideas lead to him wanting to do sorts of,, ‘social experiments’, one of which was with Raziel, who he began tormenting to try and push him to fall or doubt Father. He did this because he was just curious about the angel’s psyche, the same way a human would be into human psychology.

Samael began planning his death, as a sort of experiment of its own, to see what would happen, and he was also partially enticed by Lilith to leave Heaven. He studied the halo, tampered with his own, and when Raziel ratted him out to everyone and he was about to be formally punished, he put on a show and used his halo’s electrocution to make it look like he killed himself.

In the current day, as an adult, he is ashamed of his past actions, especially when hearing about Raziel’s cruelty towards lower or even equal archangels/angels, and is concerned that he had something to do with this development.
