Manga Prediction - Why is Yoshino angry?

Osaka is Yoshinos hometown and Hotei, her father figure told them to go to give formal greetings.

Previously in the manga there have been several times where Kirishima has used Yoshino for his own means... whether directly or indirectly.

In the case where the girls at there school start bullying her because of how close she is to Kirishima initially. Also where he started telling her about Yakuza business with the hopes that she’d respond in the way she does at the end. (I can’t remember her name but where they go to kidnap that girl who stole a shit tonne of money, in illegal gambling rings)

When they were in Tokyo, I suppose the only thing she could do is complain about it to Shouma because she doesn’t know anyone besides Kirishima. Now they’re in Osaka it’s a different playing field.

So what I’m thinking is that the reason she’s mad or is behaving in the way she is towards Kirishima is because he’s using her again. But she’s in a position to do something about it. When Nao got all riled up and jealous, when she sees her photo as his screen saver. Also informing other potential bastards of who she is and her affiliation to him.

To recap Kirishima isn’t a Yakuza despite his tattoos- he hasn’t done the Sake exchange. However he is affiliated to the Miyama group. Thus by going to Osaka he’s on a different turf, therefore he’s using her affiliation to him to do what he wants without telling her.

At this point I think even her conversations with Kirishima are clearly thought out:

Where Yoshino in conversion talks about her having various connections in Osaka and other places. She responds the fact that he must also.

Also where in conversation where she says how Kirishima doesn’t lie but doesn’t exactly tell the truth.

What I’m thinking is that she’s threatening him, but it’s coming across as a normal conversation. So she’s referring to the current situation, but she’s hiding her tracks because he doesn’t think she’s aware of what he’s doing.

Afterthoughts

Will this bring them closer? Probably not, it’s possible that shes going to trust him even less. However, it may get Kirishima to trust her more or be more anxious about what he shows to her. Possibly showing a flashback to his childhood or showing the real kirishima, rather than what’s hidden behind a mask .e.g. his episodes of violence, adulterous ways and his obsessiveness.

Will she go back to Tokyo? I hope she doesn’t and he learns something from this. After all she’s capable of staying because it’s possible she would be exposing him and she’d be more protected against him.

Honestly, I can’t for her to finally bare her fangs.

Raise wa Tanin ga li: Thoughts on Yoshino Somei

I immediately liked her from the begining. (Just Saying 😍)

Somei Renjis only grand daughter. Mother / Father : dead or disowned? Lived with grandfather early on - 2 years old? Wants a normal yakuza free life - wherever she goes. Her main attributes are her face and body, which makes people think that she’s associated to the yakuza via immoral means rather the familial link.

But she’s not just a pretty face! She’s aware of her standing in the Somei family, her grandfather doesn’t want her associated with the business-same for Shouma? But don’t actions speak louder than words? Which can be said that is where her sense of nonchalance comes from.

Why argue about her grandfathers (or any of the other Yakuza men) trashy adulterous ways OR the other underworld dealings that they do .e.g. the way Yoshinos arranged marriage was dealt. By arguing you would attempt to change an action or a behaviour... if she knows that they won’t commit, there’s no point in arguing. Can be seen in the way she acknowledges Kirishimas multiple flings- his “man whore” ways.

Though despite being a woman in a Yakuza family, having a seen but not heard association. If a problem or decision involves her (whether direct or indirect) she’s more than proactive in a way that makes it favourable to her as well as acceptable to others. Seen when Kirishima mentions how in times of conflict (which is dangerous) she’s willing to make a home for herself in the carnage rather than escape.

In that sense it gives me the impression that there’s more than one side to her. “If one behaves docile, the others underestimate them.”

I think this quote is the tipping point for Yoshinos character development.

She’s honest and blunt to some extent. Similarly she’s reserved but calculating. What makes her so complicated is the way she’s aware of everything to some extent- whether actually knowing or having a hunch.

But she acts within her role in her “outer appearance” (the way the people around her see her-own yakuza family, the public, the Miyama family -even kirishima)

Though is willingly able to tarnish it all, if it’s for the sake of her pride or for someone she cares about. Bringing forth her “inner appearance”- what she probably thinks about doing but restrains her self until it’s appropriate to do- when there’s no one there to see/stop her from doing it. When she sells her kidney for 4 million yen, when she threatens to kill Shoumas father for him (when she was 13) because the Japanese government would arrest Shouma (your seen as an adult 15+) but Yoshino would simply go to a juvenile dention facility for a short period of time). Smashes and damages her hair dryer for Kirishimas sake.

Does this make her impulsive? Initially I suppose, but all of her actions are clearly thought out.

When she sells her kidney- She doesn’t want to be seen as a liability, she has her own self worth, she wants respect. Showing she’s not going to demean herself just to make Kirishima happy.

Threatening to murder Shoumas father- Although she says she’ll murder him and aims to do so, she doesn’t because she forgets. This makes me think that she’s not hesitant to murder if it especially affects her. Also it makes me think, has she killed anyone before?

Protects Kirishima by damaging her hair dryer- Naturally a caring personality by default, she’s willing to show her cards as long as it benefits her in the long run. Saving Kirishima from a head injury. Although, she only saves him for own selfish interests- he’s the only she knows/ could protect her.

Yoshino Vs Kirishima

They are both intelligent and strong but in different ways. It’s a brains vs brawn argument.

Kirishima to put it in simple words is an example of toxic masculinity. Seen by his muscles, violent behaviour and tattoos. When he wants something he goes after it guns blazing, it doesn’t matter who he uses. Or how he’s being used because he knows he can get himself out of it?

Yoshino hides in the dark, analyses everything and stalks her prey without them understanding her direct intentions. So her prey thinks she’s harmless until her conditions are aligned and she can get them back.

Ultimately I think it comes down to for example let’s say Kirishimas the tiger and considering Yoshinos bad behaviour comes out at night she’s a Jaguar?

Would you rather come face to face to a tiger or be attacked by a jaguar, in your blind spot not knowing you were being preyed on in the first place.

Manga Predictions / Theories

Yoshino Somei :Independent. Doesn’t need anyone, uses her own initiative. Not willing to be taken advantage of. Docile unless provoked.

In the recent chapters of #RWTGL Yoshino and Shouma seem to be talking about real estate in Kobe- could this possibly where she goes to meet Ozu- kun

No matter what she says she says she wants a normal, non yakuza life. Though although she clearly lives her life free of the yakuza business she clearly is involved in her normal life in her subconscious.

It states how Yoshino senses something that makes her angry...

- Kirishimas relationship with Shiota NAO - we’ll clearly she wouldn’t give a fuck because of his other flings

-His dodgy dealings in Osaka, when they were supposed to meet her family. - I think he planned on getting her involved without telling her shit- she’s the face of the somei group maybe there image will get ruined if he causes some shit.

-She’s just wants to finally off him and stay in Osaka 😂 I think she may expose the fuck outta him and they leave-or he does on bad terms... or he becomes even more insanely masochistic and obsessive.

So she’s going to meet Ozu - kun-
