Final Exam
For my final project, I chose to paint a picture. Namely, panoramas of the center of my beloved city. "City at Sunset"
The work is done with acrylic paints. At first, I drew a sketch with a pencil, and then I built it in color.

I was inspired when I watched the lesson and tried to draw something too, not using images, but just listening to music, using acrylic paints.

I believe that Jackson Pollock's journey from using abstract imagery to creating drip paintings was a gradual process. Pollock had personal experience as an artist and he explored new formats for expressing his feelings rather than simply illustrating them. He was attracted by the ideas of surrealism and abstraction. He was inspired by the idea of painting with sand. He experimented and eventually abandoned brushes and stands, instead laying the canvas on the floor and splattering paint from above, creating spontaneous and expressive compositions. When drawing with drops, Pollock did not use any images, he simply gave himself to the process of work, the way he moved. So his paintings conveyed his inner emotions, thoughts, and feelings.

The Judgment of Paris
by Ludovico David, Swiss 1690
This painting is made from oil on canvas.
The painting is quite large, the dimensions of the painting are 68” x 96 ½”.
The colors used in this painting are very saturated and bright, there are many shades, among which there are gold, white, blue and red, and for the most part organic forms prevail in the picture. The painting depicts the theme of the mythology of ancient Greece. More specifically, the myth of the judgment of Paris, who chose the most beautiful of the three goddesses. The work is built on the conceptualization of the creation of a mythical scene, considering how to portray the characters and their interaction. The work is balanced, the figures occupy the entire space in the picture, as well as the colors in equal proportions are distributed throughout the canvas, a visual equilibrium is achieved. The picture emphasizes the ongoing scene, the interaction between the characters that takes place in the center, while the background around is dark and illegible. The picture shows the correct proportions of people and objects around. There is unity in the work, where all the individual characters together form a single idea, while there is diversity, because no character is similar to another.
This work makes me feel admiration and interest. The painting evokes such feelings in me with its plot, color palette, which is very rich and attractive here. Since this painting is a mythological scene, it makes me curious about history and myths, because I love history.
Very little is known about the author of this painting. David Antonio Ludovico was born at Lugano in 1648, he was a painter and theorist who studied painting in Milan and then in Venice. Unfortunately, most of the paintings by this artist, as well as information about them, are lost or not identified. The Judgment of Paris is his later work while living in Rome.
This painting is associated with the Baroque era, this can also be identified by the dark background, which was popular in that era. The work says about the artist that he had knowledge of the history and mythology of ancient Greece. Despite the fact that the Judgment of Paris has already been drawn many times and in different time periods, the artist showed how he sees this scene. This suggests that he also wanted to present his version to society and be heard. In my opinion, the artist conveys his message very clearly. I especially liked the way his work differs from others, this is the fact that he added many bright colors to depict the grace, splendor and richness of ancient Greece.
On the grounds that the artist was challenging the art establishment by insisting that the idea of the artist was important, downplaying the importance of the drawing itself. He was for the fact that the artist should create in freedom, not be tied to certain rules in design and color. Seeing his picture, I believe that he managed to prove it because the colors that he picked up are very harmonious and at the same time brightly appear before the viewer, forcing him to admire. The artist depicted the scene very well, placing the characters in proportion and using colorful colors to convey the atmosphere, emotions, and mood of the work. The skill of the artist is at a high level, with excellent detailing and brushwork. Through his work of art, the mythological story is clearly conveyed, and the trend of that time and the artist's unique view of the event are perfectly reflected.

JOURNALING
Unity and Variety.
Unity is the individual parts of a piece working together to create a sense of harmony and wholeness, while variety brings contrast and juxtaposition, giving interest to the composition.
The simplest everyday example can be the design of a room when the wall is tiled with square tiles but with a different color, relief, or pattern.

In this painting, the artist uses the principle of design, the unity lies in the shape of the birds, which are identical, but they are all different colors, which makes the picture more attractive.
2. Balance
Balance is the even distribution of the weight of objects, space and color in the work.
There is a symmetrical balance where the left and right sides are proportionally equal. An example is the city hall building, where the left and right parts relative to the center will be equal.

This picture has an asymmetrical balance. The artist used the tree as the center of gravity. On the right side, the weight is occupied by the road, the house, the people, and the moon, while on the right side the field, the hills, and the bright star.
3. Emphasis and Subordination
Emphasis and focal points underscore concepts, themes, or ideas the artist wants to express in an artwork. Subordination removes attention from a particular area, in order to emphasize something else.
In everyday life, you can often notice how marketers emphasize. They use bright colors, big icons, etc. to highlight the desired object.

In this painting, the artist shifts the focus to the working man, painting him in bright colors, while the rest of the painting is predominantly in one color and much smaller in size.
4. Directional forces
Directional force is defined as paths created or implied within an artwork that lead the eye through the composition.
Directional force when the viewer views the work as a whole, and then we are drawn into the features of its sequence.
In real life, we can see unusual installations, which we first consider as a whole object, and then we peer into the details.

In this picture, the artist depicts a landscape. The path leading into the distance allows the eye to walk along individual sections of the picture, a bush, a hill, and a tree and goes into the horizon.
5. Repetition and Rhythm
Repetition and rhythm is how some simple elements are repeated in the work and at what intervals.
In real life, a great example of this design would be a carpet. I remember very well how, as a child, in my grandmother's house, a beautiful Persian carpet hung on the wall, where the same pattern was repeated.

An example of repetition is an example from architecture, such as a structure as an aqueduct. It consists of identical arches that appear at the same distance from each other.
6. Scale and proportion
Scale is the ratio of sizes relative to each other, while proportion is the size of parts relative to the whole.
The simplest example of proportion would be a human face. Eyes, nose, lips, and ears relative to head size.

This picture shows the scale of how much the fish is larger relative to the human fisherman.
WRITING and LOOKING

Vincent van Gogh, SELF PORTRAIT WITH FELT HAT
The composition is made with strokes, the colors that the artist chooses are bright and expressive, and a fairly wide range of colors has been selected. The most expressive object is the face, which, unlike the rest of the work, is made in bright and warm colors. The hat is made in neutral white but with the presence of strokes of other shades, mostly cold. The entire figure of the portrait is made on a blue background, which is made in the shape of a circle. The beard and mustache stand out against the fair face, and the eyes look straight at the viewer.
CONNECTING ART TO YOUR WORLD
Color can affect the emotional state of a person. At that time I was 16 years old and I was a cadet sergeant in a school for young pilots. I was informed that I would have to go to the government building, where I would be the representative of our school and receive awards from the minister. At that time, it was the first time I had to go alone to such a place and I was worried. When I arrived at the ministry building, I was told to go in, sit down and wait for the minister in his office. When I got to the minister's office, I was very surprised. His office was unlike the rest of the building. His office was painted a soft peach, the boiserie was dark mahogany, and there were chairs with bright red seats along the wall. There were strict colors in the hall of the building, but in the office I did not notice how I had already stopped worrying and just enjoyed the design.
Choosing the color scheme of your life, of course, I would like my life to be filled with bright colors. So that the world around was colorful and saturated.
ART PROJECT

In the process of reading and studying the works of artists, I also remembered stories that I knew before. And I got the idea to visualize how artists worked, invested themselves in the creation of objects of art, but did not receive recognition during their lifetime.
PHOTO/DESIGN
Portrait
The young French photographer specializes primarily in female portraits, in which she fully demonstrates beauty, harmony, and versatility. Alexandra Sophie pays special attention to the unity of humans with nature, which is especially reflected in her portrait art photographs
Landscape
Author: Volkova Natalia
This is in Russia. The Chuysky tract is the only road through the passes of the Altai Mountains, along which you can get to indescribably beautiful natural places - forests, fields, mountain lakes, where there is no civilization and you can enjoy nature.
Still life
This still life depicts apples of different colors, berries - Cumberland raspberries, mint. All items are on an old chair, and mint and some berries are in a mug. You can understand that the photo was taken in an open place, in nature, in the rays of sunset. I think that the author of this photo has a country house and a garden in which all these types of plants and fruits grow. The photographer took this photo in the rays of the sunset, as he brought the message that the summer had come to an end, the harvest had been harvested, and perhaps now we are seeing the last rays of the summer sun.

ART PROJECT
Photography is something that helps to remember those moments that you want to keep in your memory. And each photo has its own story, an experienced moment. Looking at photographs, people may simply say "beautiful", but only I can find myself in the moment of this photograph and relive it again.

The piece of art

The piece of art I chose is a painting that hangs in my family's house right at the entrance, which I see every day. Unfortunately, I do not know the author and the date of creation of the picture, but you can see that it is quite old, about 50 years old according to my assumptions. The painting is made in oil on canvas. The artist depicted flowers, cut and supposedly lying on the table. I think it's beautiful. This is a skill, to depict a still life with every small detail.

Roy Lichtenstein 1963 Whaam! Oil on canvas
It is one of the most famous works of pop art and one of the most important paintings of Liechtenstein.
Whaam! is regarded for the temporal, spatial, and psychological integration of its two panels.
Whaam! is part of a series on war that he worked on between 1962 and 1964
Whaam! Is as well-loved today and is now on permanent display in the Tate Modern, where it has been since 2006.
It is attacking the romantic image of war promoted by comics and Hollywood films in the Cold War era.
When I first saw this picture, I thought it was just a clipping from some old comic book and I looked at it just like a childish colorful picture. However, starting my search for information on this picture, I learned a lot about the picture itself and its author, the purpose and history of writing, which changed my view of it. It turns out that this is not just a picture, it is a work of art that was bought and put on public display. The picture makes it clear how at ease and detached we can think about the war and its horrors if presented in a certain way. However, whether it was a video or a photograph, the viewer would experience completely different emotions.
