"Some people just want to see the world burn..."
I've always wondered when the next sicko would get the balls to do a shooting/bombing at Disneyland. Today's Connecticut massacre was terribly comparable... It seems as weirdo's are out there trying to 1-up the last guy? I'd rather the world end by a cataclysmic event than society do it on it's own in a slow downward spiral... As a kid, I just had to worry about being home once the street lights came on. I knew not to take candy from strangers. To stop, drop, and roll if I caught on fire or hide under a desk during an earthquake. Today our children (and all of us really) face unbelievable dangers. The world is becoming more savage and while it's great that many of us are "giving out our hearts", "feeling deeply for the children and their families", "hugging our babies extra tight tonight", this only lasts a week or so... We will then go back to taking pictures of our food, talking about sports, complaining about our jobs/relationships/last movie we saw, or tending to our crops in "Farmville". What we need is lasting change. Maybe start up a neighborhood watch, form a committee in your area, slam congress with letters & phone calls, donate blood, inform your kids of the dangers in this world. I'm not being specific to just today's event, I'm throwing out ideas for whenever a big tragedy occurs but my point is that actions speak louder than words. To be honest, I'll probably go back to my simple life tomorrow, I probably won't do something until I'm personally affected, sad, but true.

"Patriot Day" - God Bless America, but God damn the people who truly control/run it.
I didn't know today was a national holiday called, "Patriot Day". Why am I seeing this for the 1st time in my smart phone? More importantly, why don't we have the day off from work or school? We should be at home, with friends and family
appreciating our lives or attending rally’s for the police, fire, and military departments who are there to respond during the tragedies? Why aren’t we given the day to celebrate/mourn the lives of the people who died that day, the day where the spirit of the most power nation in the world was crushed leaving us left in fear and agony?  My heart goes out to all the victims and their families/friends from that tragic day. To the soldiers that were sent from their families and safe everyday posts into unknown/dangerous territory were some did not return… I thank God my brother returned safety from Iraq the multiple times he was deployed. That his life was spared the times mortar shells would rain down on him and his brothers in arms.  I am a proud American and I value my freedom and life I have compared to others in less fortunate countries. However, I am torn when I can’t trust the Government that claims to give me my freedom and American lifestyle, ethically. I can’t help to be reminded of the treachery and greed our government has succumbed to. For me, today marks the day our US Government played its biggest trick ever by instilling fear in us with an inside job, their masterpiece, bringing the disaster and panic to where it hits the most, home; successfully creating this never ending “War on Terror”.  God Bless America, but God damn the people who truly control/run it.
