Next up is our little pikachu ⚡️Denki Kaminari⚡️

-He was the Pokémon card “dealer” in elementary school

- He’s really good at sewing and fixing 1As clothes (it relaxes him)

- He responds to anything obvious by saying “shocker” sarcastically and cackling

- He either laughs super cutely or does a full on demon screech cackle

- He loves to watch really colorful fish tanks and just…. appreciate them

Denki is the guy that gets bored, and goes around the dorms, and just stands in people’s doorways, watching them, like an annoying sibling, and I have very specific headcanons to how the different students handle him, so here y’all go lmao;

Izuku, Sero, Kirishima, Mina, Ochako, Ayoama, Ojiro, Shoji and Sato always invite him in or to hang out, let’s him take part in whatever they’re doing if he wants, but mostly he just sits around their room and hangs out, and it’s very chill and comfortable

Tokoyami, Koda, Shouto, Momo and Asui doesn’t really understand what he wants, but usually ask him if they can help him, he always says no, but never leaves, because they don’t tell him to leave, so he usually just ends up standing in their door for a while, and it’s awkward, but also kinda nice

Iida asks him if he can help him, and if Denki is bored Iida always finds something for him to do, and Iida doesn’t think too much of it, but it means the world to Denki

Bakugo either doesn’t open door, or he just opens the door, rolls his eyes and huffs a lot, and Denki always comes in, and Bakugo let’s him, but if he gets tired of him, he’ll just leave lmao

Jiro will either just let him in so he can sit on her floor and be annoying while she does her thing or shut the door in his face because they’re besties and it’s that simple

When Shinsou transfers to 1A, and he does, it’s actually how they get close, because Shinsou’s not used to having people reach out to him, so he always gets pleasantly surprised that Denki keeps coming back, and Denki is so happy that he keeps inviting him in and they watch movies and shows and it’s all very homoerotic and I love that for them <3

Even Denki knows better than to lurk around Mineta’s room.

I love the idea of a whip, reminds me of this hero (who i have fondly nicknamed Electrigal)

long range tactical weapons would definitely suit kaminari's fighting style and personality, and the lightning rod idea would really boost his expertise and reliability in the battlefield. AND THE TASERS IDEA??? absolute genius- collecting excess charge to utilise later?? amazing, reminds me of bakugo's mini grenades he has on his belt. No idea why more of the hero students dont take advantage of that design- kaminari, mina, theres probably more tbh

Electricity is already such a versatile tool in modern life, you're absolutely right- with the proper support items he could most likely end up in the top 10 pro heroes

Kaminari if he were as powerful as Midoriya

o lordy watch out world, kaminari's about to bring on the destruction of mankind

⚡️ He would be capable of producing different types of electricity/lightning, e.g. yellow electricity normally, blue when hes going nuts (blue lighting is more dangerous than yellow) and white when hes going absolutely batshit crazy (white lighting is the kind to start whole ass forest fires)

⚡️ One of his moves would be "voltage vines" which is similar to blackwhip: he would be able to manipulate electricity into a rope like substance which only he can hold, enabling him to move around tarzan-like (if others try to grab it their hand just goes through and they get shocked

⚡️ He wouldn't need the sharpshooting device anymore as he has precise control over electricity

⚡️ He could draw static electricity from the clouds above to charge, but only if there's energy gathered there in the first place- basically he makes himself get struck by lightning in order to recharge

⚡️ Could use electricity as a barrier/force field, e.g. running a strong, constant charge through his body which throws people back upon contact (ever tried to grab an electric fence? haha me neither *sweats*)

⚡️ Would use stored electricity to supercharge his muscles, allowing him to pull a midoriya for a short amount of time (burst in speed, sharper reflexes)

⚡️ Could concentrate electricity into his fingertips, turning him into a human tazer (the entire class is weary around him for the next month after he discovers this, as obviously, being kaminari, he must torment everyone around him with surprise jolts to the ribs)

⚡️ If he focuses (hard for him lmao) he is able to cover the palm of his hand with electricity, emitting a light that is as useful as a torch

⚡️ Wheyy mode takes much more energy to get to but still happens

⚡️ When he's using 100% possible output, his irises change from gold to a brilliant fluorescent electric blue (:<

he's almost on par with mido power-wise, however his quirk has very limited applications and has a very unfortunate drawback which prevents him from living up to his true potential ): i'd definitely agree that he and midoriya's quirks are of similar strength (at the moment at least, electrification is no match for OFA 100%) but OFA is applicable in so many different ways whereas electrification is only useful in proximity to a target when there are no victims/allies/friends/innocent civilians around. With the stun gun thing, you're right however making direct contact with the opposition puts him at serious risk, especially if the villian is poweful enough to withstand a strong electric charge. You do not want to be hugging a villian after angering them and shorting your brain out kjfhdshkfs

And yes, someone get the kid a gun. quirks are all good and fun but honestly these are mass murderers vs children and superpowers can only do you so much good.

THIS THIS THIS. people are always like "oh haha dumb lil pikachu he's an idiot teehee" and like. ok thats all fun and games but he's canonically really smart?? he has an expansive vocabulary, and uses knowledge on electromagnetism in order to fully utilise his quirk, as well as being knowledgable on many topics, leading me to believe he has an exceptional memory as well. School just has a way of weighing down neurodivergent kids so they can't live up to their potential ):< also yeah, i'm sorta a fan of kamijirou but this??? this is barely healthy and unless kaminari is just insanely good at dealing with teasing/taunting i don't see any way their relationship could properly flourish and grow and be healthy

I have a vivid memory from the usj attack when Jiro tried to use Kaminari as a human taser which in my opinion seemed unnecessarily degrading and uncomfortable and then he made a reference Hemingway and she used it as an opportunity to tease him and along with other things made me build up a resentment of Jiro’s character and how Kaminari’s always nice to her but she still treats him like an idiot.

Also as my second confession I’m really annoyed by how the anime makes Kaminari out to be dumber than he is in in the original Japanese version. For example he canonically has a really good vocabulary (in the manga where he insulted Bakugo’s personality on the bus to usj he does it way more eloquently than in the anime, Bakugo referring to him as “mr. vocabulary”) and after he made a Hemingway reference I fell in love with with the idea of him being a literature nerd who gets bad grades because of untreated adhd and horrible math and science skills

oh don't even get me started on kaminari. as someone who relates to him on a HIGH level the way he is portrayed and reacted to in the anime pissessss meeeee offffff. poor guy's only character flaw is being sort of friends with mineta. jirou irks me for similar reasons, although i LIKE to think that she teases kami like that because she has a crush on him. (even though i like to imagine them as really good friends but that's just me) also the thought that kaminari would be the nerd in any relationship is so charming to me

- he can memorise the lyrics to basically any song after hearing it just one time

- despite this, he somehow manages to always forget what someone's said just after they've said it to him

- interrupts people mid sentence a lot because brain so full and doesn't want to forget what he was going to say + not good at telling when there's a gap in the conversation

- He knows a startling amount of random useless facts about obscure things and will drop these facts casually on a daily basis (while flirting, probably) e.g. "damn kirishima, are you a cephalopod? cause with the amount of love you're smothering us in you gotta have at least three hearts!" cue the entire bakusquad just. speechless

- ^^^ he mainly knows facts about sea life, weather systems, theoretical physics and bizarre anatomy facts (trust him to learn how to knock people out with a tap on the neck like they do in movies- not to fight villains but to fuck with his friends)

- he always finds a way to hitch a ride on his taller classmates- literally climbing up shoji, exaggerating a training injury to get iida to carry him, pretending to be a maiden in distress so sero will bridal carry him for fun, asking satou or kouda for piggy back rides- he likes being tall (:

- brings candy to class, especially gum and gets caught every single time because he sucks at hiding it lmao. the number of times aizawa's been in the middle of writing something on the board and explaining something and there's a loud POP and the entire room goes silent as he turns around, only to see every single student side-eyeing kaminari and the criminal himself tight lipped and wide eyed like a moron, bits of bubblegum still on his face, desperately pretending to focus on his work

- has had a crush on literally everyone in the class at some point (mineta doesn't exist) from jirou to tokoyami to bakugo, even aoyama at one point

- used to have two hamsters named Zippy and Zappy before moving to the dorms at UA, they are now looked after by his younger sister who renamed them Princess Starlight and Prince Silver (they're both male hamsters but she doesn't know and probably wouldn't care if she did)
