Thank you everyone for supporting me throughout this chaotic year! One thing I learn this year is to challenge myself more and more and being able to go out of my comfort zone instead of sticking to just one idea. I hope that next year I will improve more in my artwork so I can open commissions again. I have done quite a few art challenges and fanart this year but I didn’t have any time to focus on my OCs so I hope next year I would be able to. I also worked on an album cover for a friend @bgofficial.7 and I can’t wait to tell you more about it, it’s part of my art summary 💛 Although school is hella busy but I’m so happy I was able to draw every months. I hope everyone will have a better next year, one more day and we can kick 2020 out of our lives 💛

fingers splayed over skin

legs entangled

eyes up to the stars and -

I want to take your wanton mouth

into mine

and blow stars down your throat

breaths shifting

lips trembling in the night

the story tells like this:

sometimes he looks up to the boy

and remembers the day after their first rally

lips swollen

heart pounding and-

we were gods once

then he looks up to 

the heroes in the sky

and calls them all by name

then he looks at the boy in his arms -

none of them compare

the story tells like this:

twelve a.m. and two bodies

hazy-gold in a field

under the soft glow of the stars

hands searching for relief

lips trembling from desire

like a dream

that never ends

elven p.m. on a saturday night and he can’t sleep because

he just made a god out of a mortal, with his knees

on the grey bedroom tiles and his mouth

sucking prayers into Achilles -

I want to fall asleep next to you

his feet hurt

from crouching in the same position for too long

but the pain is a dull hum

against the absence of Achilles in his mouth

and the dearth of Achilles’ skin under his touch

I want to fall asleep inside of you

Achilles tugs him into bed

spines bend like crescent moons

and he kisses lip-shaped laurel crowns 

all up Patroclus’ thighs

dipping nectar and ichor 

until they’re both sticky 

with love

Repeat.

i. You’re blinding, Patroclus says one day, bent over textbooks and Oreo cookies with Achilles’ feet on his lap. The electric kettle is loud in the corner, drowning out the static beeping of the microwave from the kitchen. Achilles reaches out and Patroclus takes his hand blindly, running his fingers over the raw skin on his knuckles, one by one.

ii. You shine and shine and shine and it pours from all your pores and the light bleeds into my skin. Patroclus smiles, small and secretive, and brushes kisses on Achilles’ knuckles. The textbook glides from his hands and falls with a thud on the robin’s egg blue carpet.

iii. You crept under my skin, slowly, and illuminated me from the inside out, Achilles says and tugs Patroclus down, closer to his heart. You make me brighter. More radiant than I deserve. His cheek vibrates against the hum of Achilles’ lungs that fill and empty with each breath. Patroclus’ hair smells of fresh water from the shower and Achilles’ shirt smells of sweat and the Chili con Carne he made yesterday. 

iv. The kettle stops, water boiling. Neither of them gets up.

Day 26 - Day 31: Harvest Festival

.

When looking at this prompt, I thought about doing some fun festival piece but for some reason I couldn’t come up with anything for it. I wanted to do something a bit different so luckily this came to my mind after hours of brainstorming =))) As a pet owner myself, I see my dog and cat as my children and every time I think about how soon they will have to leave me, I cannot stand it. But I try my best to give them the best lives and hopefully, that will ease up my pain when I have to let them go in the future. Hopefully they will get taken care of afterward too.

This concludes my October challenge with @drawtober 🎃🎃 It’s been a very fun (and busy) month, Drawtober ease up my stressful time with homework and I have created so many fun pieces based on their prompts!

Day 21 - Day 25: Ancient Rituals

.

I’m still pretty busy this week but I figured I need to take it easy on my works since I have been trying to crammed everything together for a while. I skipped some homeworks (actually the professor gave us some freebies bc she understands this year has been chaotic), spent more time relaxing by watching some series, and take it easy on this prompt. I actually wanted to spend more time on this one but for some reason I couldn’t draw what I want to draw for this prompt, which is to honor the ancestors. So I decided to go with this with an idea surrounding bonfire and story. I might go back to this piece in the future because I feel like there’s still some more I could do to it.

Day 16 - Day 20: Folklore

.

Storytime! This is the prompt that I was most excited for but sadly it fell onto the week that I’m super busy ;_; Growing up, my parents got me many storybooks, and almost every single one included the tale of Tấm and Cám. So this is my illustration of Tấm.

Tấm and Cám were stepsisters. Cám and her mother always used Tấm because Tấm was so nice and never tried to fight back. When Tấm married the prince, Cám and her mother killed Tấm out of hatred and then Cám took Tấm’s position as the prince’s wife. But because Tấm was a good person, there was always a Buddha giving her heaven’s blessings and reincarnated her every time Cám and the stepmother killed Tấm. In the end, Tấm got reincarnated back as herself and she got back with the prince. Some books say Cám and her mother later died tragically but didn’t mention how. There was one book I had in particular that talks about how in the end, Tấm tricked and boiled Cám alive then send her meat for the stepmother to eat. The stepmother killed herself after knowing that she ate her daughter’s meat.

I tried to include colors with this piece but it just seems out of place so I ended up just putting it in grayscale. Hopefully, that still translate over well :> The poem I used is Nghĩ Về Tấm Cám by Nguyễn Ngọc Hưng

I try to change my technique for every submission just to test things out ✨ I really really like how this piece turns out to be and although school has been stressful lately, I find myself relax being able to draw just for fun. Let me know what you think and I can’t wait for the next prompts!

This was supposed to be for Mermay but I guess I forgot to look at the date oopsie 🤭

Jk I actually got attacked with Finals and SVT’s comeback so this got pushed wayyy back until now. I’m happy how this turned out. This is probably my first time fully painting a piece like this. It’s time consuming but I enjoy how poetic the result looks. This illustration is way out of my comfort zone: I tried out a pose that is more interesting, capturing a subject that requires special details, use brighter colors, I even painted a BG haha 😆 This took me about 30 hours in total to finish and I’m willing to do it again because it’s so worth it 😊 (butnotnow_ineedtorecharge_mymana)
