“ I certainly would like to see you try. I’m undefeated, ” Lindsey says, her voice laced with sweet sarcasm. Usually, she was able to tone it down, but it was harder now being around her brothers more often. Her eyes follow his across the room, attempting to scope anyone that was starting to look sloshed. “ Like that dude over there, ” she says finally, pointing out a man at the end of the bar, gripping onto the bartop like his life relied on it. “ I bet you he’ll fall as soon as he lets go. ”

“For now. I wouldn’t get too cocky if I were you,” he warned. Growing up, his father had always hated how uninterested he was in just about everything. His father would try to talk about sailing and Elijah would yawn and look away. At school, he would stare out the window or whisper wtih his friends. He nodded his head and took another sip of his drink. “I think if someone even tapped him right now he would topple over.” He tilted his head toward the woman leaning against the wall, eyeing the dancefloor with a drink in her hand. “Or her. That’s like her sixth drink. She wants to go dance but she knows she can’t even stand up straight.”

“ I’m sorry. ‘Most bored’ would have to go to the one who made it less boring for the rest of ‘em, ” she jokes, hoping he wouldn’t take offense to her brash way of saying things. “ But I’m glad this moment’s making it’s way to the highlights of your day. Now, if more people tripped after this until I leave, that would single-handedly make the rest of my night. ”
Tumblr media
He raised his hands up in a gesture of surrender. “I’m coming for it next time, you better watch out.” The inflection of his voice didn’t change, but it was his version of a joke. There was still some truth behind his words as he’d become quite competitive during his rugby days. Surveying the room, Eli said, “There is a high probability of that. Most of them are going to trip over themselves and you won’t even have to intervene.”

Warren realized he was giving new definition to ‘skating on thin ice,’ so he should probably chill out but he wasn’t really the most even-tempered guy in the first place. Today, he was downright antsy. He’d had his fair share of awkward encounters and half-assed reunions (on his part, anyway) since returning to Mystic, and now he needed to do something to occupy his time so the guilt wouldn’t eat him alive. So, of course he was back at the Station to try and get his job back, but he couldn’t exactly… think of the right way to say ‘hey, I know you all think I died in the most deadly event to probably ever happen in Mystic but, surprise! It’s a boy! Not dead!’ Around the time he realized how ridiculous he was being, someone spoke up and scared him half out of his skin.
                “Jesus, what the fuck.”

“What? I want to know what you’re doing.” He didn’t think he’d been that quiet coming over here. He wasn’t trying to sneak over or anything. His reaction only peaked Elijah’s interest. Clearly, he was deep in thought, which meant he was thinking about something important. That could’ve explained the pacing. It wasn’t his business but he’d been watching long enough that it almost felt as if it was.

Eli was eating lunch outside the station, watching the man lurk outside the building. Lurk was a strong word, but his behavior certainly was odd. He doubted it was a conincidence as this was the third time the man had walked by. He made a game out of it, trying to guess what the man was doing. Getting his steps in on his Fitbit? Practicing for a one-man play? He took one last bite of his sandwhich and wiped the crumbs off his hands. He walked over and asked, “hey, man, what’s with all the pacing?”

Lindsey lets out a huff of relief at his response. “ Well then, I’m glad someone around here is on the same page. ” She then raises her glass slightly to him, finishing it off to seal her good deed for the day. Technically, her job description merited good deeds, but tonight’s happenings were just for her own entertainment. “ I mean, you seemed as bored as I was before this, so you’re welcome. ”
Tumblr media
“I’m surprised. I thought I had the ‘most bored’ title on lock.” He followed her gestured and raised his glass before taking a slow sip of his drink. “I can safetly say that was the most entertainment I had all day.” That was a high compliment coming from him  –  unamused was his default state. “If we’re lucky, there will be more people trip before the night is over.”

What a standard move. Lindsey would find herself at a bar at 11:30 pm with just one drink in her hand. She was never one to indulge herself into oblivion, but she sure loved to watch people around her start to get rowdy. Mystic was boring most of the time, so any kind of scene that would lead to something exciting was always sought after. Her hazel gaze scans the crowd until it falls onto a tipsy couple. One too many drinks so early into the night had them looking sloppy. Lindsey’s eyes narrow slightly as they pass by, the girlfriend narrows her own at her to back off while the man - or should she say, boy - slides a hand over her arm. Fuckin’ trash. Instantly annoyed by the act, the brunette sticks her foot out and doesn’t look the other way as the couple tumble over behind her. A smirk dances on her lips at the victory but quickly disappears once she realizes someone had been watching the whole time.
“ What? They had it coming! ” She says in defense of her actions, shrugging as she does so. “ They were gonna fall eventually. I just… propelled the inevitable. ” @mysticstarter

Already he was unsure about his decision to move here. There wasn’t much to do. How was he supposed to find something that would give life a spark when all he did was go to work and go to the bar? Yet, as he watched the scene unfold, he thought that he wouldn’t mind this place after all. It wasn’t exactly that he liked the violence but he could appreciate the drama of it all. Something almost like a smile made its way to his face. “I’m not judging you.” Eli never judged anyone for that matter. “It’s their fault anyway for not watching where they were going.”

Buds snug deep in his ear canal, Lip hums as he taps his foot to the wordless beats of ‘lofi’ music, eyes closed shut as he rests on top of the wooden planks beneath him. It was a chill day— well, at least, that’s what he was intending for it to be. With his mother never forgetting to remind him that he was not even close to being the ghost of his older brother and getting yelled at by angry cat ladies, Lip always tried to look at the brighter things in life. For instance, it was sunny, and he always loved the sun. So what better way to drown out life’s clear distaste for him than to bask in it? The instrumental comes to a slow end, at the same time, footsteps coming to a halt beside him. Lip doesn’t open his eyes right away, tilting his head with raised brows, evidently feeling a presence looming over him. He pulls out a bud, squinting. “—What’s the deal? Can’t let a guy catch some rays in peace?” @mysticstarter

Elijah was walking around the town, unsure of what he thought of it. It was certainly different than anywhere he’d stayed before but he wasn’t sure if it was the country or just the town itself. He was walking to get a better feel for the place, trying to make up his mind. He stoped and stared when he saw a guy laying on a bench. He knew staring was rude but that didn’t bother him. He tilted his head. “What’s the deal with you? Why are you just laying here?” He thought that’s what backyards and beaches were for.
