My fanarts of Ri and Odajima from Mononoke... I have this headcanon that Odajima became a ronin after the Bakeneko Arc, and maybe he met Ri again at some point. Now posting these fanarts side by side, it looks like Ri is seducing Odajima. 👀😂🤭

Kon reminds Shingi of someone very near and dear to him. Kind of a rocky start to what is supposed to be a longlasting partnership...
Also thank you Crouton for helping me with how to call Shingi...

Wraeththu - Storm Constantine
Read: July 2017
Wraeththu is a collected edition of a trilogy consisting of The Enchantments of Flesh and Spirit, The Bewitchments of Love and Hate, and The Fulfilments of Fate and Desire. The three are all in chronological order with each other, with recurring characters, so it’s nice to have them in a collected edition.
The premise of the Wraeththu world is that a new species - the Wraeththu - evolve from humans. They are androgynous and hermaphroditic and almost supernatural. They possess psychic/magical powers that help them become the dominant species on the planet, overthrowing the old human powers and laying waste to human society. The story is not about the end of humanity, the story starts after that at place in time where humans have very little territory left to them and Wraeththu tribes are ascending to be the dominant power structures in the world. The main characters in all three parts are dealing with how they fit into Wraeththu society and how they fit into the plans and schemes of other Wraeththu.
There is a lot for me to like in Wraeththu. I especially like the disbanding of gender for the Wraeththu. Destruction of the tension between genders/gender roles in society means power dynamics are sorted in different ways. This manifests in a caste system where a Wraeththu progress upward through the hierarchy as they gain more “mystical” power. This of course means there are powerful and not powerful - as always. But there is a clear progression and it is considered….dutiful to level up your power as it was, to go from not powerful to powerful. Of course another thing I like about Wraeththu is that the Wraeththu look like men, albeit androgynous ones. As a gay man, I’m here for that. Wraeththu gets labelled as queer fiction a lot, which I don’t mind, but I guess it’s debatable since they are another species altogether. Although since they’re hermaphroditic it would be correct to say that they are all homosexual since there is only one sex. Regardless I like it.
Since this takes place in the future of Earth (I imagine Constantine viewed the on-set of the Wraeththu species in the late 1990s/early 2000s), I find myself going “it’s science fiction!” But the presence of mystical powers means it lends itself more to fantasy. And now writing this all out I see that the absence of new technology and the abandonment of old technology really means this fantasy. Well at least this was good for something.
As for the story itself, I enjoyed it. I like the three respective main characters for each part. I like the adventures they have. I like the continued erosion of human power. I liked the expansion of Wraeththu power mundane and otherwise. I like the love stories and I like the intrigues. It was nothing that I expected and that delighted me. It’s not often I find a book that defies all my expectations.
Info: Orb, 1993.

SOME CHANGES!!!
First of all, I just want you to know that I've recently changed my Tumblr username. Before, it was nocturnal-eyes. Now it's Ememchan8.
Because of the recent Twitter chaos, I will probably try to be more active here on Tumblr again. But I won't make any promises. But just in case Twitter completely goes up in flames, I'll probably be online here more often again.
As you know, I used to post a lot of fanarts here before, especially Tokka and some ATLA fanarts. But it's been years since I've become dormant in these fandoms. Sorry about that. I got really busy with my own personal project. I've been working on my own original webcomic now. It's Omegaverse / BL (Boys Love) webcomic called "Unexpected Omega". So if you're not into these genres, feel free to unfollow me, since I might post about them and some of my OCs more often.
