Welcome to Rio Week 2025!

This is a week of prompts for artists, writers and more to do in relation to Rio Kamishiro/Rio Kastle from Yugioh Zexal, alongside her counterpart, the Barian's Sword of Ice, Merag/Marin! This event will be hosted here on Tumblr, so either tag this account directly or tag your posts with #RioWeek2025 so I can find them and compile them!

When will it be held?

This event will be hosted from Tuesday, November 11th, 2025, to November 18th! It's a notable day in Yugioh history as it was the airdate of Rio's first full duel in Zexal! (and I know not to compete with Barian week!)

What will be allowed?

Art, fics, edits, memes and more! Anything and everything in relation to Rio will be encouraged! Shipping art is also allowed as long as Rio is a part of the pairing!

Prompts will be posted before the end of August to give artists and writers the months of September and October to prepare! I'm currently working on fancy banners that will have the relevant information, but keep this in mind as something to engage with this November if you're a Zexal fan!

I hope the "What if Disco Elysium was about a witch finding her cat in the mountains" post never leaves the gaming discourse vernacular. It will never not be funny to me bc it's got all the Gamer Entitlement™ levels of CoD bros throwing hissy fits about "woke" shit but instead of being couched in far right reactionism it's the exact kind of "Kingdom of Conscience" style liberal outrage at anything with conviction and beliefs that DE waxed on about. Like even chuds who get mad that the game calls you out for being racist interact with the themes of DE better and understand them more than Cat Lady did.

Twilight popularized the idea of the sexy vampire for the 2000s generation, but that was built off groundwork made from Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Gary Oldman's 1992 Dracula, and Interview with a Vampire's 90s film. And if you wanna go down that rabbithole, those both owe their origins to the mid-20th century creature features.
