How do you stop being a X-men? I spent four to seven years training. I want to walk away, stop fighting Umen, and live my life. I am unable to adjust to the lack of mind readers, flyers, or various walking elementals. The experience of leaving home is different for mutants. You enter the Xavier Institute after you hit puberty, when your x-gene activates. Life was never boring. It is impossible to adjust to life among the "normal" population. My old costume never crawls to the back of the closet.

I guess you could never really stop, you either try to blend or become a vigilante or villain. Make a mutant group and talk about mutant feelings together. Mutant communities with specialized help for mutants. What else could you do?
