Sunday Funday
So as your all aware its Sunday so it was time to smash the gym! Especially as the stitches have come out! Decided to double up and do treadmill and a bit on the bike! Did a quick 2 mile run at just over 9 minute mile pace and then hit the bike for what I'm going to call Long course pace (15 mph or over) did a 45 minute stint with a high cadence and an average speed of 16 mph which I was buzzing with! Got a weeks plan, put in place so going to smash the week and you will here off of us shortly :) Nathan

self-inflicted injuries
So my training is now on hold... Got a little bit too excited watching the rugby on the weekend and ended up in a&e! The result was 15 stitches and training put on stop! If Em wasn't so queezy I'd show you all a lovely photo!! The moral of this story is that our mothers are always right and you should really never play with knives!! Hopefully the next time I blog I can share some actually training activities!! Nathan 🔪🚫

Longest run so far... (since training has commenced)
Saturday morning 8.15am 1 degree and my gosh we felt it! Took ages to warm up. My technique which kinda worked but kinda didn't was start slow and hopefully I'll pick up a way of breathing.. didn't want to shoot off and like suffocate with the cold air like the 10k we did on Wednesday, there was no settling what so ever which was horrendous. Anyway so we decided to do the loop by my house.. ended up doing 8 miles which we were both happy about just mainly because we wanted to get the miles in our legs! Nath did a amazing up the hills.. legs built for elevation, I on the other hands snailed up the hills but was at least happy to get up them! Was slightly disappointed with my training time... slightly is an understatement actually but it's certainly made me more determined to get on and put more miles in! Gotta keep it going! Super excited to get on now 😃

The right kind of peer pressure!
So after bailing out of training last night, Emma phoned me and 'forced' me to go training! (Which I appreciate)! I thought I'd ease myself in with a BRICK session (bike and then run) 30 minutes on the bike and 15 minutes on the treadmill! It was boiling so I don't actually think there was water left in my body and i was getting some pretty dodgy looks to say the least! I know I said there would be blood sweat and tears on this journey, however I didn't expect the blood to come so soon! Driving home and your nose going pop is not a good look/feeling guys! On that beautiful image I'm out! Nathan x

Well that was not successful
Feeling well frustrated..second day of the week and I’m already not on plan. Really struggled tonight. I had a training day away today in Swansea which was as exciting as watching paint dry 🙄not used to sitting down all day… my jobs always on the go so ended up drinking loads of coffee and it truly backfired on me for tonight’s treadmill sesh 😢felt horrific and had to stop at 1.9 miles! Poor effort but nevermind 🙈tomorrows a new day. Meant to be swimming in the morning but I need to cover someone at work so an early shift is on the cards instead. Hopefully get a decent session in tomorrow eve (swim and run )🏃 hope I can do this 🙈 feeling nervous/anxious not a good way to be feeling so early on 😟 Emma X

First entry for the new blog
Well the intro pretty much says it.. although it’s only been a couple of weeks we’ve been signed up, we have actually been training for just over a month 😃seem to be taking it steady but we are certainly making progress. So good to look at the times and the increase in the miles on both the bike and run side. Unfortunately I’ve had a slight set back in the swimming.. being deaf for the past couple of weeks hasn’t been fun and swimming really hasn’t helped. I’ve manage to get one decent distance it but that’s it! Positive is I’ve had my ear sorted so I can now attempt to progress on the swim. Weeks training plan is sorted.. bloudy hope I follow it! Nathan you have permission to bully me if I slack! 🙈🙈 Emma X

So here goes nothing with our first blog post!
First things first, we’re a couple of crazy people who have decided to do the long course weekend (LCW) in July. This entails a 2.4 mile swim, 112 mile bike ride and a 26.2 mile run all over 3 days!! Crazy right?
We signed up for this a little over 2 weeks ago and this blog is going to track our progress and show everyone the trials and tribulations of training for such a big event!
I’m sure the next 5 months will contain blood, sweat, tears and a whole lot of laughs!
Now the intros are over we shall keep you posted on our progress!
Emma & Nathan
