School Reflection
During these past months I have learned and grown from the past freshman year. In high school you learn a lot, yes I have written about school several times in my blogs but I have noticed that it is very important in my life. In my earlier blogs I focused on what I loved, like TV shows, songs, and past memories, but now I am starting to focus on my future and what I can achieve. My lacrosse coaches said this season that reflection help because you can look on the past mistakes and achievements and grow from it. In the beginning of the year, I was excited, I was not a freshman anymore. I knew that my classes would not be as hard and I was also looking forward to my sports teams. I was not going to be lost the first day of school and I was not scared of the upperclassmen, who were my friends. While varsity field hockey was fun, it was a challenge. Looking back on the season I wish I branched out more in the beginning of the year because later in the season I started new friendships that I wish lasted longer. Also, I wish I focused on getting better, not getting down on myself that everyone else was so athletic. While the fall was an exciting season, there were there downfalls. I have noticed that people change and grow apart. The best advice I had was be around people who love and want to be around you all the time, do not worry about the people who do care about you. During the fall, I fell into the mistake of being around people who did care as much for me and it hurt, but I have now realized who wants to be around me. The fall of sophomore year was a rating of 8.5 out of 10.

Then came the winter, the winter was the best season, I did not have a sport, grades and drama were clam. I would work out after school and get home earlier so I got a chance to study more. Overall, my day was pretty much normal. The winter went by fast and this helped because I feel like every year the winter is the hardest season to get through. The winter lead into the spring which was exciting. Lacrosse tryouts were head but then easy, once I made JV lax I finally got to relax. The beginning the spring was the hardest because I had to focus on school a little extra with the end the midterms. I loved spring because I had a great experience of spring break with lacrosse and got to bond with other grades and other girls I would never have talked too. This is one of the reasons I love high school is because you expand so many friendships with different people everyday. Even though getting home at home around 6 everyday was hard, my grades were on edge, I have learned now to stay focused in the spring and not slack off. It is hard picking your grades up so next year I will learn that during the spring to stay focused. Once the lax season ended I have been running on my own with friends and I get home very early which is good. The spring has been fun, but since summer coming very soon I do not know what the expect.

So I wrote this the week of May 16, it is the week before reviewing for finals and it has been a good week. I am hoping I get good grades on the tests so I need to make sure these last weeks are staying consistent and focused. I hope I get the chance to write a reflection every year so I can look back on the past and see what I have done.

Mr. Yee, Do Not Be Mad
High school is a challenge, but it has become a challenge to the point when it ruins people’s days. High school is all about pushing yourself and finding out who you are. St. Stephen’s and St. Agnes School tries to get students ready for college but this school ruins my day sometimes. For example, my history paper was worth a big chunk of my grade for my history final and of course knowing Emma I got a C+! YAY! Just what I needed struggling to get a B in that class. The best thing about this situation is that I busted my butt on this paper and I still got a rough grade while other students half-ass the project and strive to get a B-. The teachers at this school truly need to realize who the students are, the ones who stay in on a Friday/ Saturday night working to get that good grade they want and the other students who half ass every project, homework, or test. I feel like I try too hard for all the classes and am still struggling to get good grades. Yes, academically it is hard for me to get a B or an A but I am striving to be my best and still I get a C on my history paper. The teachers need to take notice of how students work not just the work they see on the paper.

Okay, a got a C on my history paper . . . next. Last and this week are very tough, the next awful grade was chemistry with a D :). Yes, Emma Repke got a D, it is okay because I am used to it from physics, thanks, Chipkin that C on my report really shows the college coaches how hard I tried, I am being sarcastic. But anyways, back to chemistry, I am awful at chemistry, I think teachers should not rush students for learning material, while my teacher said “The average test grade was a low B-” wow are you surprised? You move way too fast in your lessons and you give no time to review for the tests and quizzes and you are shocked the average was low? Yes I studied, yes I pay attention in class, I want to learn but I teachers can not except this is, I missed two days of class. I am frustrated at the subject and myself. But it is okay I learned from it and I will get a higher grade on the next test.
Some might think “Just ask for an extension,” well you see, if you only miss one or two days of class they probably will not be this nice, but I understand this it was my fault for not being on my A game. I'll take a neck for that (means my bad).

The last and final grade I know I did poorly on was my geometry grade. Math, I love you, I love, love, love you. Teacher, you are a wonderful teacher you have a great pase and the review time is perfect. But I missed class and we had a quiz on two two days of material, and guess what I missed one of those days. Okay, so maybe I missed a class for Easter I am upset at myself that I missed that day, but I could not make it. If only I asked for an extension, but I feel that you would not give me one.
Even though these are just some bad grades, they hurt and ruin my day. When you get a bad grade it kills your day. High school is rough, you want good grades, people want good report cards and GPAs to show to colleges. In my situation though, if you do not have a good enough GPA or grades the college for lacrosse will not look at your for recruiting. So yes, a bad grades means a lot because it will lower my grade.
Please, yes I love all my teachers, I am just upset for the fact these two weeks have been hard.
PEACE LOVE SCHOOL
Just at the time of year where you can not slack!

Summer
I would do anything to live in the moment where...
You get the text, “Wake up we are going on an adventure.”
The “Oh my gosh I missed you so much” yell across the beach.
When everyone looks tan and happy.
Unfamiliar faces say, “I love your bathing suit.”
The sun rises and sets and you are sitting next to your best friends.
Your family laughs and laughs about the awful memories from the years before.
When you look around and everyone is smiling.
The laughter and joy is unbreakable.
No one is bothering each other with unnecessary drama.
Your jumping on your bike so fast, just so you can tan and swim.
The lake is so cold but every memory and risk is worth it.
Candy is only 50 cents.
Swamp water is not just a drink, it is your life.
A chicken quesadilla is the best meal you’ve ever had.
The lifeguards yell at you because you and your friends have flipped the sailboat 5 times.
Unforgettable nights happen.
It is not a dream anymore, you are in your happy place.
Eagles Mere is different, it is where people are happy and nothing can stop you from having the time of your life.

Disney
In my young childhood ages I was IN LOVE with Disney. Disney was my life all the way from Mickey Mouse to High School Musical. It all started with the Princesses, Cinderella, Snow White, Arlie, and many more to name. I loved Cinderella the most because of her fabulous castle in Disney World in Florida. I would go to Disney World several times when I was younger and every time we went to Magic Kingdom I would want to go to the castle and see her, once I had brunch with her and actually got to go inside the castle! The Princess put in “aw” in my head every time I would see them on TV or hear about them, even though they are fictional, as a child it was always fun to dream their lives and have them as my idol.

Once the Princess stage was over, it was Winnie the Pooh, my oh my Pooh, she was my favorite and still is. I love Pooh because she would always get stuck because of her belly and also her squad was just so funny to watch. Her best friend Piglet, and other funny friends like Tigger were so nice to see. I have a best friend that I have known ever since I was one year old and we always call ourselves Winnie the Pooh and Piglet, so I think this is why Pooh has always stuck with me over the years. I have dozens of stuffed animals of Pooh. I have also met him several times before. I have even cried in a Disney park once because I couldn't meet Pooh again... this was three years ago. But knowing me I googled times to meet her and ran to find her.. Yes three years ago. Pooh is still with me and the phase will never end.

Even though the Princess phase ended, Pooh still has not. But the next Disney phase I had were the High School Musical and Camp Rock stage. This is the most fun for me. During this time I was a tween, the best years of my life... not really. I lived next door to my closest friend, we would have sleepovers and movie marathons for Disney. This was prime time for our fantasy of marrying Zac Efron. The shirts, jewelry, lipstick, posters, and everything else about HSM was insane, what the heck was wrong with me. I knew EVERY single word, catch line to these movies. I knew everything about the cast like it was my job. My friends and I were in love with these movies, but now I think about it I have no idea why. Maybe because the fact that Gabriella and Troy were perfect for each other or that Troy was perfect. HSM era was one of funniest and lovely memories I have had.

During the High School Musical era there were other movies and TV shows I loved as well but never caught up with HSM. Camp Rock was another movie I loved. While already loving the Jonas Brothers this was my calling for loving the movie. I loved singing movies so singing along with the Jobros, was heaven. Not going to get caught up in talking about Camp Rock, there is a TV show I loved called Lizzie Mcguire, Hilary Duff starred in it and later became in a movie, and also a game in the netindo! Duff was perfect, one of my top movies as well just because it was so funny, she goes to a new country and is with her school touring, but little does she know a famous singer looks just like her and they get mixed up in their lives.

Even though theses are just a few memories and Disney phases I have, do not be fooled I have loved Disney and I have not even brought up the Disney Channel TV shows and songs! I would like to thank Disney for filing such great people and shows because you made my childhood the best it could be. Also to clarify I still love Disney and nothing will change that.

High School In Reality

In movies and TV shows, high school is always hyped up with parties, no homework, and no drama, but this is not the truth. High school is preparing students for college so there is a lot of work. During these years in people’s lives it is important to know how to time consume and pay attention with work and personal lives as well. But during middle school and maybe even before that younger kids think of high school as going out every weekend and not doing anything during school. For example, some TV shows like 90210 or Gossip Girl have the expectation of the main characters not going to school. In 90210 a lot of them would show up late to school and after school not do homework and just do whatever they want. In Gossip Girl, rarely or never show the main characters in class at all, the show is known for the high school students partying and also doing whatever they want in their free time. Another thing both of these TV shows have in common is freedom. Both TV shows have the characters driving around and going places where not most common high schoolers go on their weekends. For example, the TV shows had filmed some episodes when they were underclassmen and they would drink and go to clubs. Another topic I think kids have of predicting high school is is their freedom. Freedom does not happen overnight, in middle school, especially at St. Stephen's and St Agnes Middle School children have NO freedom what so ever. During the dreaded middle school years you could not have your phone at all, you had a strict dress code, and everyone was clicky with friend groups. So of course when you picture high school you imagine total freedom, but this is also not the case. There are plenty of rules to follow now.

Even though having freedom and seeming like high school was all for the memories, it does have its downfalls. In other TV shows or movies high school is scary, a lot of people in the hallways, getting bullied, and other exceptions like drugs and drinking. In the movie Mean Girls, the movie shows the school at its worst. The clicks at lunch are rough, there are the “Nerds” the “Jocks” and everyone else in the middle, the school is showed by social status and that is how you sit during lunch. Also, the mean girls are shown as the Queen Bees and are fake with personality. If someone ever watched this during middle school it would be hard because you never know what to expect. Also, another movie that is unrealistic is High School Musical, even though this school seems like a lot of fun, it seems challenging with the jobs you have to take control of like being the best singer or basketball player. High school will put you through some challenges but everyone deals with them at some point of time and everyone gets through every one. A lot of TV shows demonstrate good and bad things of high school, but every single stereotype is wrong. Students HAVE homework and students DO NOT have as much freedom as the media shows.

When I was in middle school I would say I was the scaredest person in my grade ready to go to high school. I had the worst stomach aches and I honestly just did not know what was going to happen, who would be in my friend group, who would I eat lunch with, where is my next class, do people like me, who are these random people? All of these questions would be rushing through my head the first weeks of school. I had “bunch of stereotypes all in my head”- Macklemore from TV shows in movies, I was so nervous. But as time went on I have been surviving high school. High school has taught me a lot though, not only by the teachers and the crunch time of getting an essay done or having to stress about 3 hours of homework after my lacrosse game when I get home at 7:30, but is about life. Things do not last forever, freshmen year flew by fast and I can not believe sophomore year is wrapping up, I have learned to take every memory in and not let drama like friends or dating etc seriously, everything happens for a reason and every memory is a lesson for life.

South Block
South Block gets a lot of hate because it is expansive, but honestly it costs the same amount of getting a smoothie and a sandwich from Tropical Smoothie. Also, people that have not had South Block give a lot of negative vibes, but they have not even have had it before. I love South Block not only because it is good I love it because there are such good vibes when you walk in. Every time I go to South Block 98% of the time I will see someone I know of or know personally! In Alexandria it is such a small world I will always run apon someone so if you are trying to see some familiar places that is the place to be!People always make fun of me that I have a passion for this one called South Block, they will laugh and tease me but it will never stop me from loving it. South Block in Del Ray, Alexandria is connected to a yoga studio called Ease. When you first walk in there are bright and happy colors and it is very relaxing. In my opinion, the Falls Church location is the most peaceful because the colors on the walls are neutral and calmly. My friend can walk to her closet location in Falls Church. There are so many healthy options you can chose from. They are most famous for their juices, you can sign up for a juice cleanse. Also, they just started making different kinds of toast, avocado, banana, and strawberry. The avocado toast is just wheat bread with avocado and other spices on it. The banana toast is cut up banana with peanut butter on wheat bread. I have never have had the strawberry toast but I have had the other two, they are not as good but they are working on it I hope. My favorite restaurant is South Block, it is a juice company that makes juices, smoothies, and acai bowls. There are 7 locations in the D.C. area, Clarendon, Falls Church, Vienna, GW University, Georgetown, and Union Market. Also, there they are adding one in Old Town. Where I live, I go to the Del Ray location. In the summer I walk or run and order my Warrior Bowl with no banana on top and extra granola. I mainly get this order, I also have had the California Bowl which is very tasty too! The Warrior Bowl is blended with organic acai, bananas, strawberries, and pineapple juice. Then, for the toppings are handmade granola, strawberries, blueberries, and bananas (but I do not like the bananas). Usually you can add and drop any ingredients you want, for example you can change the peanut butter to almond butter or add coconut for the toppings.

South Block is mostly breakfast food, like smoothies and toast, but sometimes I love having a acai bowl during the afternoon. But do not think they will open past 5 for anyone! One time my friend and I went to South Block after one of the football games and it was 5:15 and we try to see if they were still open and there were girls just like us and they said they came at 5:05 and they were already closed!
South Block is healthier than Tropical Smoothies, Smoothie King, or any other chain smoothie restaurants. South Block acai bowls are around 375 calories as to Tropical Smoothie is around 500 calories. People say you can make smoothies like South Block at home, but it is not the same, yes you can make a smoothie at your own house, but it would not be same. Mr. Yee said that you can not make Popeyes at home, but technically you can make fried chicken at home too.
It is a tradition for my friends and I to have South Block on the weekend after a sleepover. Usually me and my friends will sleep over at my house and walk down when the weather is nice to Del Ray, my friends and I love having breakfast together.
