if the us military won't lend movie studios military equipment unless the script is sufficiently us-military-propaganda-esque they should just ask to borrow other militaries' shit and then edit the US flag on it in post or something

"The Louvre welcomed 8.7 million visitors last year — more than double what its infrastructure was designed to accommodate. Even with a daily cap of 30,000, staff say the experience has become a daily test of endurance, with too few rest areas, limited bathrooms, and summer heat magnified by the pyramid’s greenhouse effect.
In a leaked memo, Louvre President Laurence des Cars warned that parts of the building are “no longer watertight,” that temperature fluctuations endanger priceless art, and that even basic visitor needs — food, restrooms, signage — fall far below international standards. She described the experience simply as “a physical ordeal.”
Shoutout to the Louvre staff for putting their foot down! I'm interested to see how this progresses.

I would almost argue that Western Europeans think ANY 'natural' landscape is alien and mysterious and will kill you. The human-nature devide is so so strong in Europe and the moment 'nature' invades 'human spaces' we panic and start killing. Just look at how we are treating the return of the wolf in the Netherlands (and Europe in general tbh) as a threat to humanity and life itself.
Are They Human? by Eyal Weizman delves a bit into how Europeans in the 17th/18th century looked at 'nature' (specifically forests) as land that was not part of the state and the consequences that had for how they treated their own as well as newly discovered continents.
okay I’ll say it nicer:
australia was colonised according to the myth of terra nullius (or empty land). ever since the very early days of colonialism, the land has been framed as something untameable and unliveable. this has justified acts of violence against the first peoples here, in that they are seen as non-people. it has justified the destruction of sacred land in the goal of making australia look more european. (an example: our capital city contains a man-made lake that is now nothing better than a fetid carp pond. it’s disgusting and unnatural). basically, the idea of “taming australia’ has justified endless harm
“everything in australia is weird and dangerous” is not just some silly meme phrase, it is something that arcs back to the very beginning of white settlers laying claim to ‘australia’. and personally I am very sick of seeing it thrown around like it means nothing

Watching TikTok try and rewrite fandom history by saying fandom culture was created by teenage girls makes me eye twitch to an extent I’ve never felt it twitch before. The middle aged women printing out Spirk erotica to share with each other in the 1900s did not die for this!!!! How dare you erase our important historic moments!!! You would be nowhere without the 30 year old women who dedicated their free time to making these spaces happen. Put some respect on their names!!!!

"If you support trans man lesbians you also have to support cis man lesbians" yeah cool other people's sexual orientation labels are not my business 👍🏻
As long as he's not trolling why should we exclude a guy who genuinely feels their attraction to women is queer/sapphic/lesbian/etc? This is how a few trans girls & nonbinary folk I've met realized they were trans, they realized they were a lesbian before coming to terms with the fact they're a woman / not actually a guy. And you know what, that's literally fucking fine. Not to mention, sometimes using the 'wrong' sexuality labels for your gender can be a form of gender nonconformity. Gnc/genderqueer guy finds it validating to identify as a lesbian? Awesome. Cool as hell.
If you want to get mad at creepy cishet guys creeping on lesbians, DO THAT. I don't think any of those people genuinely believes they are a lesbian, if they're saying that, they're trolling. In general I don't think any non-queer guy is going to genuinely find comfort in labeling themselves as a lesbian. Don't attack queer folk with weird genders or people still figuring shit out when you mean to be gunning for chasers and predators.

Honestly the way in "feminist spaces" bras are talked about like they're a beauty treatment is so weird. They're a support garment. Some people also wear them for modesty, which like if you don't care about that fine but a lot of people do, but either way they're ultimately practical, supportive underwear pieces and not necessarily anything more. You can get very utilitarian ones and very decorative ones and we've incorporated them into sexual play like we have panties, but they're just there to help keep your tatas from smacking you in the face.
Whether its some skinny small-tittied bitch in the 70s burning them or some skinny small-tittied bitch now sharing psas like "you don't Have to wear a bra! Feminism!" they never fucking go away. Like pretty sure the folks who don't have to already know that. I'm not wearing one bc I want to appeal to patriarchal beauty standards, I'm doing it bc the alternative is Deeply physically uncomfortable and even painful, and that's what the fucking things were invented for. I get that you're Thin™️ and Normal™️ or whatever but the rest of us aren't. Like why dont your call out jock straps or shoes, obviously people only wear those for sexualized and performative patriarchal reasons and no actual practical function, right? Like live a goddamn day in my cup size before you talk to me about this shit again.

i was a kid asking questions like "when you say to rate my pain on a scale of 1 to 10 do you mean relative to what i have experienced before or what i could theoretically experience in the future because what if i say 8 and then later i get twenty billion papercuts and i realise relative to that this pain is a 1" and they would reply "just focus on what you know, you literally had your foot ran over by a ford focus" and id say "well exactly but it could have been both feet which i know would surely be worse" and it still took years to diagnose me as autistic

I will NEVER let ppl forget that Brad Pitt terrorised and beat Angelina Jolie and their kids so bad on a plane ride that a report was filed by the FBI with multiple witnesses. And I will never forget that Angelina Jolie filed for divorce from him almost immediately after that incident in 2016 and it wasn't until THIS YEAR that Pitt agreed to it after ALMOST A DECADE of dragging her and their kids through bullshit defamation court proceedings. But you'd never know because that fucker is everywhere with his fake racecar movie and shitty cheek fillers and everyone just eats it up. So many people warned that the Depp v Heard case would light the way for famous abusers to be rehabilitated in the public eye and it did. It proved to abusers that they don't even need to be sorry or acknowledge what they did they can just keep showing up, smear their victims behind the scenes with astro turfing and let the fans and industry do the rest. brad pitt, Kevin Spacey, James Franco, Ezra Miller, Johnny Depp etc. all of them are thriving in the spotlight rn and being invited to major industry events and even winning awards despite documented incidents of abuse. It's so fucking depressing.

i think that "claims to be pro life dies anyway" is the singular funniest phrase ever invented because there's just no coming back from that unless we suddenly get really good at necromancy
