ok, no panicking, guys, it's real. what i sorta kinda predicted was maybe going to happen is happening. after a year of inacceptable obsession, my LOST hyperfixation is dying down (which isn't a bad thing), but so is my motivation to write LOST fanfic. and i just need to finish my one WIP because i love this project so much but can't be bothered to keep writing it. arrrrrrgh, what do i do???

An all-boys institution, Camp Austen often received teenagers from juvenile detention centers in an attempt to give them enough structure to get by in life without dabbling in crime. Jack couldn't wrap his head around the fact that his father thought he belonged there with them just for speaking his mind.

actually i get what u mean in the sense that the show treated them as a disposable ship. i guess also because mononormativity is a thing, and people can't appreciate a relationship for what it is and always have to compare it to something else.
like of COURSE the Jack and Juliet story was always going to pale in comparison to The Fated Lovers, Jack and Kate. these two have been destined to each other from minute 14 of this show. of course.
but once we start seeing bonds and relationships as things that heal us and make us grow as people, no matter the length and importance they have, or even their capacity to fully develop, i think that's where we see their real beauty.
if jack/juliet meant nothing then what do ya'll make of this scene?

whenever i watch a long running show with a slow burn romance between the main characters i'm like, why was suliet cursed to be a half-assed sideplot thrown in at the last minute and given no buildup, room to breathe, or happy moments? why couldn't they have had twelve seasons and a thousand episodes of banter and slowly falling for each other before getting together and having a thousand more where they're exploring their relationship?

"This fic is literally just porn, why do you care about the quality of the editing" unfortunately, both my brain and my dick have strong opinions about verb tenses.

I'm so grateful to Lost for the ship dynamics it gave me, bc it has literally everything I love, my favorite types and interactions!!
My all-time favorite is a poly triangle, there's room for suffering, jealousy, and silly questions like "why him and not me?" that must be answered in a too small for three people tent in the middle of the night, accompanied by the sound of the waves and soft sighs and moans. Kate, Jack and Sawyer. I thank the heavens for their photoshoots, their brilliant acting, and the ending of the island arc, which leaves us with no clear answer about who's with whom. Because there is no clear answer. Because they are all with each other. For me, kajawyer’s vibe is mom+dad+uncle who's lying on the couch in their house, drinking their beer, and taking showers with them, smirking mischievously. It's just perfect, there’re two alphas and their beautiful and challenging omega who needs the right approach. The dynamic is built on an emotional roller coaster, with some coming and going, but we all know that they can't be without each other in the end. (This is how the Jate’s arc looks outside the island for me, and I like to think that they can't exist without a third person, just like any good polyamory should have a balance and everyone should be able to support each other). They’re my found family and probably the only characters who have managed to give me that feeling in the show.
Sayid and Kelvin are my second basic dynamic, which has everything: power imbalance, age difference, traumatic military background, and one character's influence on the key events of the other's fate. I can't believe that Lost gave me so much!! I was watching different dynamics with Sayid in the s1 and half of s2, looking for the most tasty, but when Clancy Brown appeared on the screen... I didn't think for a second. I needed to see all the things with them (and draw it, which is what I'm doing). Society loses me as a human being when there's a strict, authoritative two-meter-tall top with a complicated past and ill intentions. And a bottom with a romantic personality, a sharp tongue and big puppy eyes, who will definitely do something terrible in the future, consume themselves with guilt, and unconsciously strive for submission. I will die on this hill and squeeze every last drop out of them.
And the third dynamic that I don't get into often, but when I do, it's for a long time. Sayid x Nadia. I rarely ship straight couples, but the trope of two people deeply connected by something tragic in their past that never fully leaves them, even in their best moments.... In their case, it's even better bc they have three layers: a carefree childhood, the harsh reality of adulthood in war, and a future after years of searching and eventually accepting each other. Nadia is probably my favorite type of woman in the media, she's determined, stubborn, and doesn't hesitate to be blunt, but she's also soft and genuinely compassionate on the inside. Her inner strength amazes me bc she was able to forgive and accept someone who represents the regime she suffered from so closely. Even if it was a result of trying to hold on to a past where they were still children. It adds a layer of complexity to their dynamic, making it more nuanced and flavorful.
