MET, NYC.
This week, we went to the Metropolitan Museum of Art located in the Upper East Side. I personally have been to the MET multiple times (more than 10 times in my entire life), so I am pretty familiar with the exhibitions and the layout of the museum. I really liked their fashion exhibition, which is new this year. I went once in January and they had a different fashion exhibition with different garments compared to this week’s.

Other than the fashion exhibit, I’ve always loved the gallery where the cafe is located. The glass ceiling allows a lot of sunlight to shine through to the marble, bronze, and gold sculptures and floors, making everything seem very dreamy.

Overall, I really enjoy the MET. It is a place where I can stay the whole day and not feel bored. You can observe people sitting around sketching sculptures or people, families who came from afar to visit, and students admiring the art and history.

Dover Street Market, NYC.
I have spent countless hours inside Dover Street Market. I go at least once a month to see what they have in store, and I am always intrigued by the garments they display. This season, though, I'm a bit disappointed since 90% of the floors are filled with Comme des Garçons garments, which makes sense because DSM was created by Rei Kawakubo and her husband, but I would've liked to see more diversity in terms of designers.

I ended up buying this really cool Japanese kimono-like jacket from CDG though, and I love it! It fits me very nicely, and the details are a plus.

DSM is a retailer that sells high fashion products from mostly streetwear brands. The store was actually largely based upon the Kensington Market in Britain. DSM had previously collaborated with the Frieze Art Fair, the Michael Hoppen Gallery, and the Institute of Contemporary Arts to showcase work throughout the store. Frequent brand collaborators include CDG, Gucci, Nike, Palace, and Stussy, as well as Balenciaga, Maison Margiela, LOEWE, Raf Simons, and Rick Owens. DSM first opened up in London, and now there are stores in Tokyo, NYC, Singapore, Beijing, LA, and Paris.

NYFW, NYC.

This week begins NYFW. At my Hellessy internship, we didn't have a show, but we had a photoshoot for our Autumn Winter 2022 collection. This happened on Saturday, 2/12, and it was a full day's work because we planned on shooting 32 looks (I KNOW, INSANE.)

Even though the photoshoot was long, it was really fun! I had the chance to meet the photographer and videographer, and the model was really down-to-earth too.

I really fell in love with the style of Hellessy, which was one of the reasons why I decided to intern here. Everything looks like a statement piece, and the shape flatters the body so well. I helped out with styling and last minute fixes, so basically dressing and undressing the model. steaming garments, fixing fringes, pinning and clipping parts of the garment so it fits the model more, etc. This was something that I wasn't familiar with, so it was a learning curve for me. But my supervisor, Maria, said I was really good at them! She said I was very detail-oriented, which is a trait that's good for stylists and designers.

We spent around 11 hours at the studio shooting, but it didn't feel that long at all. The photographer made the shoot fun with upbeat music while hyping the model up before every pose. At the end of the shoot, the model said she is definitely going to buy a couple of pieces from this collection, and this was so rewarding.
