Game where the ancient hero is awakened from the deathless sleep of centuries in the hour of their people's greatest need, only to find that civilisation is thriving and there are no obvious threats on the horizon; the game then becomes a fish-out-of-water detective sim as they try to figure out what woke them up, and also solve other, smaller mysteries along the way.

huge fan of the depth of a good purple but another area that draws me is definitely around aquamarine/turquoise/seafoam. you can not go wrong once the green starts getting just a tinge more blue. a gal could certainly do worse than to pull over there and stay a while

I haven't seen it talked about (as there seems to be only a little discussion of it on here so far) but one of the things I love love love about The Residence is that she gives up on the investigation.
Cordelia Cupp, world's best detective, who solves the unsolvable, gives up... because she prioritizes the reputation and livelihood of a man she respects and who respects and supports her in turn. Chief Dokes knows that continuing to pursue the case will mean the end of his career, but he says nothing... until she asks. She asks. She knows that there are consequences to her dogged pursuit of the truth, she asks about them, and despite the fact that Chief Dokes is willing to accept those consequences, she says "I'm not."
In a genre that is often characterized by detectives who keep pursuing the case to the ends of the earth - consequences and fallout be damned - I am desperately in love with this character who is blunt and clever and justifiably arrogant and still shows such compassion to those who support her to say "I will not ask this price of you, even if you're willing to pay it, because what you built your life around is more important than finding my answer."
We have multiple anecdotes through the series about her obsessiveness and indefatigable pursuit of her goals and unwillingness to give up until they're achieved, and yet she will not throw over Chief Dokes for the sake of seeing this thing through.

obsessed with the universe that the residence is set in. president is gay but that's not why everyone hates him. first gentleman has anxiety and comes with a mom that's homophobic to one person and it's the president. social secretary moves like a south korean president (personal shaman and all). terror attacks in dc that somehow are just happening without being intercepted. kylie minogue respected and revered by an american audience...

The really funny part is when folks insist upon awkwardly cramming their fantasy OCs into the framework of Dungeons & Dragons character creation even though absolutely nobody is asking them to do that, and in the process end up independently reinventing the setting of a different popular tabletop RPG that they've never heard of. "Okay, so my D&D OC universe is sort of a 1980s cyberpunk thing, except there are still elves and dwarves and orcs, and fighter class abilities are reskinned as cybernetic implants, and warlocks are techno-savant hackers who consort with godlike AIs, and also the President of the United States is a dragon" like, what you are describing is Shadowrun. You literally just invented Shadowrun.

popular YouTube channels are great and informative until they make a video about a topic you're informed on and then the house of cards comes crashing down as you realize how utterly wrong they are about most things

jokes that will literally never not be funny to me:
saying “speedrun strats” every time you fuck up
saying “first try” when you’ve tried the thing like 15 times, minimum

Orc TV: Mythbusters and Top Gear reruns
Halfling TV: the most incredible impassioned storytelling you've ever witnessed always neatly contained in 2 seasons max

The only reasonable option is to buy a team rocket uniform and lean into making these elementary kids have a kickass story to tell their friends
Had my suspicions but I have finally confirmed it this morning: The rival Pokémon Go team I have been beefing with, whose gym's total annihilation I have incorporated into my morning routine, is actually a group of local elementary school students

Shut up and take my money so I can play HORSE
concept for a tv show: a cute simple love story between an assistant and a chauffeur or bodyguard or whatever else rich people have and in the background the rich people are having the wildest telenovela level drama that we only catch glimpses of
