Found on the ground at the side of the trail.
The nest is lined with spider web silk and willow fluff, the softest imaginable cradle for a hummingbird chick.

I spent all of January making this 2ftx2ft diorama for a show! I'm so glad I finally made something like this, but also SO glad to be done - everything took a lot longer than anticipated, and I ended up doing some looong hours on this in the final week to get it done in time. Everything except for the cast iron pot, glass jars, and natural objects is handmade. The mice are needle felted with polymer clay parts, I threw actual miniature ceramic dishes and cups for them, I built their home out of so much styrofoam trash and newspaper and air dry clay, I built and upholstered their furniture...
Big shoutout to @prawnlegs and @sheydgarden not only for tolerating the huge mess I made while making this, but also contributing little items: Jey made the brooms, fireplace poker, candle, and spinning supplies, and Ezra made the table and extremely majestic grub!
