I am interested in the human body of being fit and healthy. Over many years ago human were hunter who have the body to move around to find and eat their food. We all been noticing but being fit and health is good for you. Over decades being overweight or not is becoming more and more of an issue. Health problem and life threatening issue are coming up because of people not keeping up with their health.
Yes the world population have grown tremendously and because of that we have more food source available to us. That doesn’t mean we should eat all the time. Researching on fitness I found some people are happy of their size and don’t care what they eat as long as they still living, which lead me to they might encounter difficulties down their lives and obstacle they must overcome. Eating is great but keeping up with your exercise can lower of the risk of health issues. Also for those who don’t have time for exercising can watch what they eat. Study shows that a change in your diet can change a life style.
What can they do to give them an extra push to be healthier in the future?
If people become less health does the statistic of health issues rises?
Are younger generation healthier or less healthy?
The average life time of a person in the United States is around 70 years old. With the cause of unfit and unhealthy can lower the rate of that person life span. Everyone want to live longer and look healthy. Being fit and healthy can give a person a better chance to find a mate and be happier. Studies show that being fit can make a person more happy and more active than those who are not.

SUGAR
Everyday in life, we all have experienced how sugar is so addictive. We never really thought that sugar will be a big deal in our health issue because our body do need sugar but we never really know that enough is never enough. Sugar is in what we drink and what we eat, but is sugar really that bad? A little would not hurt because its what we need in our body, but will we ever know how much does our body need to consume sugar? The problem with sugar is that sugar exists in many forms like syrup, honey and etc. I really like to workout and do all kinds of researches about lifting weight and exercises. What  I learned from this is that sugar is not in the food group because sugar contains no nutrients, no protein, no heathy fats, and no enzymes which can lead to a bad health.
For weeks now I have done numerous research on this topic about why sugar is such an issue for our health. According to www.theguardian.com, it stated that sugar – given to children by adults, lacing our breakfast cereals and a major part of our fizzy drinks – is the real villain in the obesity epidemic, and not fat as people used to think, according to a leading US doctor who is taking on governments and the food industry. From my experience, our teeth are affected and they lose their components until decay occurs and hastens their loss. Diabetes is another commonly known disease caused by sugar as well as a high fat diet.
I have came up with some fruitful questions about my topic. First, since diet sodas and other products made of artificial sweeteners which contains zero calories from added sugars, does that mean they can be consumed freely? Second, why are sugars added to food? Third, how much added sugars do most Americans consume? Fourth, how much sugar do we need in our body to survive? Fifth, how many different kind of sugars are there in the world? Sixth, what are the benefits of sugar?
Why should we care? From T.V. to commercials, the yummy and indulging taste of sugar have spread throughout the world showing that sugar is good. Commercials, such as Pepsi, Coca-Cola, etc, that advertise unhealthy products are deceiving because they do not present the side effects after consuming sugar; they will only present the quality of their products. Therefore, one should manage his or her diet when the consumption of sugar comes about.

As previously stated, my area of inquiry is focused on shark finning. The first thing I noticed as I was researching into this topic was the bizarre photos capturing thousands and millions of sharks on deck, with or without their fins. They say pictures are worth a thousand words, and it is really true. The sharks were helpless once on deck, and the fishermen would start their finning job immediately whether the sharks felt the pain or not. The outcome of finning the sharks are mostly shark fin soups which made me frustrated because not only were shark fins tasteless, they also contained mercury! Not only that, I noticed there were a variety of sharks like hammerheads, giant guitarfishes, or whale sharks and it wasn’t just the typical great white sharks that we always think of. It also caught my attention that almost all headings of articles had the words “endangered”, “extinction”, and “shark fin soups”.
After being exposed to such harsh acts for means of business, I was troubled with frustration and confusion. There were surely some big problems that I had to dig deeper into. I came up with a main problem: The overfishing of sharks are leading them into extinction in which it will greatly affect the marine ecosystem. Sharks are big fishes and can’t reproduce as fast as other smaller fishes. Therefore, the extinction of sharks will lead to an unbalanced species population and even great loss in the ocean life. Another problem I found was that the tasteless bowl of shark fin is expensive. Yet, somehow higher class families still purchase it, in other words, they are supporting the finning of sharks.
My head was full of knowledge that shark finning is flat out bad. With so much information, questions emerged:
1. Why are there still businesses with shark fins if the issue is urgent enough to ban the business?
2. What is the statistics of the shark population from today compared to 100 years ago?
3. What are the effects of banning shark fin trades? Will it affect the cultures associated with shark fins?
What is at stake here is clear to all. Sharks have been around for longer than dinosaurs. Keep in mind that they do not pose a threat as dangerous as we humans are. They do not have the knowledge of technology or capitalism other than surviving. This is our planet that we live on, so we should not recklessly destroy it by means of business. If wiping out the population of all sharks succeeds, our oceans will be at great loss. I can not imagine a world without water, without life. Don’t let Earth turn into Mars.

Technology And Humans
Everywhere we look left and right there is technology in our face and everyone else face. It is so much in our face that it effect what we thing and even what we see. The fact that our search engines work around things we previously searched up instead of showing us the entire selection. This because the internet controls what we see without us even realizing it. This is not just a bad thing there are some benefits. For example I am using a computer to complete this assignment and many others in college. However I am not technology crazed like some people who “Cannot live without cell phones or some kind of connection to others”. Since Technology is advancing every few months now is there a chance that it can pass us up in where we have to catch up with it? At this point there are children being born into technology and Grandparents just now learning how to use it.
For four going on five weeks now I have been grazing different topics, in which I have decided to pick this one, because it relates to everyone, is audience appropriate, it as well keeps my interest. As I was Noticing I began seeing trends in research, yet it could be my computer just showing me what she feels is relative to me. The trends went from, technology advancement, to trying to sell me something, then how it humans feel about it, could it turn into a public issue. As I went further into research I have found studies that say computer have affected IQ scores, brain function, society, and shows both positive and negative influence on everyone. Yet people do also use the internet for media or entertainment purposes, this is when people end up spending hours on the computer expanding their knowledge on random topic while staying connected.
With the gathered information I have formed a few fruitful questions to help me decide whether or not this topic is worth pursuing. How does technology benefit us as a people? Is technology more advanced than what we can handle? Is the government developing something like a robot to handle some jobs? That is something we won’t know until they decide to tell us. So does this mean we are at the mercy of the government? Or are we in control but only to our knowledge. How does Technology affect out society, in a positive way like promoting peace, or in a negative way like making us more materialistic? And lastly is technology: tv, laptops, cellphones, worth the investment? These things are not free and some people they are not free thus hard to come by so if we didn’t invest in this would we as Americans still be ok in the world?
So now we come down to what is at stake? Why should anyone care? There are about 85% of Americans that have A cell phone/ eBook/or tablet, that does not include TVs or laptops. So of course the percentage is higher than that if you consider the fact that people in jail have TVs. The commercials on TV shape what the government want us to see. Another thing is to consider is children, the children born in between 2003-2010 are being born into technology, some are getting cell phones and video games starting at age 3, that is even before kindergarten. People are unaware of the effect of technology because not all of them are bad. It does help us with daily things yet it also affect your daily life. Such as online shopping makes people excited yet if the page doesn’t load fast enough there is a slight stress. The internet has its ups and downs but are most of them in favor of us, or just advancing beyond what we can handle.

For the past few weeks, my blogs are mostly about the atmosphere and pollution. Thinking of that it lead me to clean energy. By using clean energy, we can stop the hazardous pollution we have been creating over years and can save the younger generation.
I am passionate curious about my health. I have asthma and to keep myself healthy, I have to exercise to keep myself in shape. By having asthma I want clean air so I can breathe in good air not hazardous air.
The topic of clean air is relevant to me because air pollution is bad for one health even if they are very healthy. I for one is healthy but my lungs are not. Having good air can save other people like me of having asthma.
So far I have scholarly article and ted talk for my research. The question I am having is, when clean energy will be used by almost everyone.

Over the past few weeks I have been searching for a topic that I am very interested in learning more within the remainder of the semester. What is sugar? Why do people love sugar so much? If sugar is bad, why do people still eat it? Is enough never enough? Sugar is a sweet-tasting carbohydrates found in living tissues and is exemplified by glucose and sucrose. According to BBC Science, people love sugar because of the tricky relationship with sugar which starts at birth: we are borned with a sweet tooth. From my understanding of why people still eat sugar, sugar plays a vital role in survival. Over the past few years, more people are addicted to sugar. For me as an example, I challenged myself to a six month sugar-free diet, which I accomplished; however, enough will never be enough because sugar is hard to resist.
I am passionate and curious about learning more about why and how people can get addicted to such matters like sugar. This topic is related to those who love sugar and those who want to learn more about the pros and cons of sugar. However, sugar causes significant health issues: one of the biggest health issues related to the consumption of sugar is obesity.
Some genres that I have used for this topic is Youtube, scholarly articles, and mostly my experiences. This topic varies to many other subjects, such as weight-loss, nutrition, and many more. I would love to learn more about how dietary supplements, drugs, etc. can affect the human body. There is no question for now until something suddenly pops up in my mind.

Considering that we are now on our fourth week of school, I have made up my mind to focus on topics that would affect the world we live in. This is because most of us cast a blind eye on the environment that surrounds us and take it for granted that secretly dropping a piece of paper on the ground is acceptable, or burning up coal for production means is extremely necessary, or et cetera. So for the purpose of our assignment regarding Storify, I have decided to focus on the topic of shark finning.
Last semester in my Anthropology 116 class, I heard about the issues of shark finning and it made me passionately curious because I’ve always viewed sharks as a monstrous fish...until then. And until then have I agreed to open my mind and cast a realistic view on this very land I stand on everyday. However, this topic of shark finning is not relevant to me than it is as interesting and urgent to me. Having said this though, this issue may apply to those who act to preserve the species of animals that are near extinction or even abuse. Shark finning, in my knowledge so far, is primarily for the famous shark fin soups that are priced up to $100 a bowl! Not only that, those who are against in shark finning states that shark fin soups are tasteless and that it is just the broth that makes it delicious.
So far I’ve looked at scholarly articles, youtube videos, and basically the media to explore deeper. It has caught my attention that I would like to know the statistics of the shark population as many are finned each day for business. I’m sure more questions will arise as I dig deeper into the topic, but this is the only question in my mind right now. I hope though, that shark finning would be on the decline.

Throughout this course we have been looking at different platforms and genres, while using methods of rhetorical analysis to better our understanding of the information. The last two blogs I have written are about the idea of “tainted altruism”, not because I am interested in this specific topic, but more of how the brain functions. By looking at different structures (genres) of writing, I have broadened my view of how I can achieve success in writing to a specific audience.
I am interested in rugby, poetry, and cultures; but I am passionately curious about the way the brain functions. My curiosity developed last year when my we had a gender unit in my English class. In this unit we had learned how the female and male brain worked and why. We read magazine articles, scholarly articles, books and wherever else we could find information. After, the class would be split into groups and we would have good discussions solely based on the information the whole class had read. Each discussion or reading had just made me even more interested in learning about the brain. If more people knew the way their brain worked, then I think we would do things a little different, if not more efficiently.
Currently I am a pre-business major, but I am also very interested in psychology so I am trying to solidify the decision between the two. I would like to further know why people act the way they do, and how much control they actually have over it. I would also like to know what subconsciously runs through our mind when we analyze a person and why? There are so many questions that I could ask, and I hope to find at least a handful of answers.

Over the last few weeks have encountered a few subjects of interest to further study for the remainder of the semester in English 130 such as Movie Candy, How Technology is taking over our Generation, and even The Effect Media has on Americans. The problem is figuring out which is more relevant and which appeals more to an audience. Another thing pondering me is which topic to pick and how much information I will be able to find on the nonacademic genres we have to choose from.
My Passions include dance, helping others find ‘inner peace’, and how the mind works. These topics are not only relevant to me but everyone else, as Americans is the goal in life not to be happy, that’s why we buy things, that’s partly why people attend college, to be happy. In regards to inner Peace and the Media they are like brother and sister; one always puts the other down, one always tries to out shine the other, yet in the end they still see each other every day, and still share the same blood. Media influences what people think they need to buy, do, wear, say in order to be more American and be happy. The Media is not always right and Happiness is not always the object however in the end you can’t think about one without the other.
There are so many Genres out there that could address these issues although some are more typical than other I have to incorporate them all. I have explored a few academic articles, a documentary, an info graphic, YouTube, RSA Animate, and Twitter; they all supply some type of information and opinion to the subjects above. Once I pick a definite topic I will have many questions however until then it’s just a brain storm.

The air we are breathing, is it killing us or is just a rumor. The article below said the increase of toxic waste and other harmful stuff in the air is killing us slowly one by one, because of what we human are doing or is evolution playing a part of this.
http://alankandel.scienceblog.com/2014/01/29/weather-no-answer-in-solving-toxic-air-crisis/
Mother Nature is not playing its part of cleaning the air and we human are causing pollution in the air. Form my understanding the weather do cleanse of the bad pollution. The wind blowing the bad air away or rain and snow cleanse the air.
http://alankandel.scienceblog.com/2014/01/31/air-quality-matters-blog-introspection-and-other-thoughts/
Cities are creating air pollution and it is going to the valley where other folks are living. Cars and factories are the main leading cause of the bad air and humans are the reason why. What the blog said is true but how can we stop it when there are so much people.
http://alankandel.scienceblog.com/2014/02/02/research-shows-possible-polycyclic-aromatic-hydrocarbon-exposure-dna-change-link/
Air pollution causing children and other  people harm. What the blog said is bad air quality is causing kids to have asthma. Asthma can occur either by gene or by the bad air around that person, and because of it air pollution is the leading cause for it. I don’t know about the anatomy but short of t cell is causing asthma
All the blog are saying about the air quality and air pollution but they are stating different things. The first article don’t have enough backing, the second article have more detail to make it controversial, and the third having reason backing it up. The three have the same topic but different meaning.

http://instagram.com/mileycyrus
https://www.facebook.com/MileyCyrus
https://twitter.com/MileyCyrus
My area of inquiry is focused on Miley Cyrus and the genres I chose were Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube.
Facebook's purpose is to communicate with people from all over the world (with their consent), network with a variety of groups, organizations not only to communicate but learn as well and promote various things. In Miley's case she gets to promote her tour dates, and other pictures of her daily life and activities. The audience depends on what your privacy settings are. It could range from just the people you add to be your friends, the public, only yourself, custom(only a select few of your friends), or friends of friends. For Miley Cyrus, ANYONE could see her posts because they need the exposure adn make their page available to everyone with access to internet. Some affordances are making new friends and no limit to how much you can write on your post. Some constraints are people can easily make fake pages using your information or your page can be shut down if you’re not using it appropriately.
Twitter's purpose is to sharing what Miley Cyrus is doing at any given moment with other people online, communicate with fans, and update fans on daily activities she does throughout the day. Her audience is other celebrities, fans who are interested in her life, and people between the ages of 15 and 30 (mostly) who can access her page. Affordances of twitter would consist of  communicating with other celebrities and/or fans (only if they want to). It's also open to the public so like any social media, you can expose your material. Also, you can connect anything to your twitter (for example make a vine, make an instagram), link your videos or pictures, and share personal messages with friends. Some constraints would be a 140-character (maximum) tweet post to your profile, people take what you write as an artist out of context. For example, being MIley, she has to watch what she writes more than the average person because she has 16.9 Million followers of all ages, and also communicating with celebrities ONLY if they want to.
Instagram's purpose is to share pictures AND now videos of your daily activities, food, outfits, and events. We get an inside view on Miley's daily life. Her audience is Because she is famous it is a given that her audience may or may not be fans or supporters of her music/ lifestyle. The way she is going in her career, I would imagine her fans would be teenagers up to late twenties. Some afordances would be the ability to filter your pictures, instantly looking at similar pictures but just adding a hashtag on your picture, and the possibility of getting famous. A perfect example would be Jen Selter who is an icon to the fitness world with as many as 2 million followers. (http://instagram.com/jenselter) A couple of constraints are the time limit for the video you post is 15 seconds, you can't post pictures and videos together unless you have an app for it, and if you really want the full effect, you have to have a smart phone. Why you might ask, well even though you can login to your account on your laptop, you can not post pictures or quickly search someone.

Vang_Yer_Allie Matteucci_NavigatingGenres_2/2/14
With the ideas from the article “Navigating Genres” by Kerry Dirk, I have decided to focus on the topic of global warming. Here I have linked the pages related to global warming addressed in a fictitious newspaper, a British newspaper, and a conservation organization website. Now let’s take a closer look of each of the websites.
http://www.theonion.com/articles/could-this-asteriod-solve-global-warming-iraq-and,10330/?ref=auto
Clearly, the purpose of this was to throw out some sarcasm and humor to the world about global warming and other issues. The intended audiences was specifically aimed to people in relation to the war in Iraq, those who are in poverty, and basically anyone who can relate to global warming. It seems, though, that this website lacks affordances. It only presents the picture with a question that will surely linger in people’s mind, but that may be all. Lastly, this fictitious newspaper may not have many followers since the media is largely spread out which causes the constraints on having a lot of viewers see the picture.
http://www.theguardian.com/environment/2013/sep/30/owen-paterson-minister-climate-change-advantages
This British newspaper article mentions that global warming may also give off positive effects. The intended audiences may be towards those who opposes the idea that global warming is a good thing. I think the only affordances one can get from this website is that they can comment and/or share this piece furthermore to the media. The constraints of this newspaper article is that the positive effects of global warming isn't really what people research for and therefore, it won’t be seen as often.
http://www.nature.org/ourinitiatives/urgentissues/global-warming-climate-change/index.htm?matchtype=b&creative=33211528550&device=c&network=g&src=sea.AWG.PR0.CP141.AD575.KW3997.MT1.BU379&gclid=CI6r9qGhr7wCFRSFfgod-04Aqg
Finally, the main purpose of this website is to address conservation threats and protect land and water for nature and for people. The intended audiences are those who are interested in becoming a member of their organization or just simply those who are looking for solutions in improving the environment they live in. This website by far from the other two has a lot of affordances to offer for its visitors. It gives a load of information about their organization, science, their projects and more. However, their constraints may be that people who cares about the environment and global warming may not have access to the internet.
In conclusion, all these three websites of different genres is in relation to the same topic of global warming. One is sarcastic, one is controversial, and one is beneficial. Nevertheless, all of these are examples of different genres.
