“I can’t imagine who he got that from,” Sherlock replied, knowing all to well that he was probably to blame for his sons defensiveness. He felt bad for putting all of this on Rosie, but he imagined it was better than going to their university on his own to check how things were going - for both him and his children’s sake. “You’re doing more than enough…and if it makes things easier for you - don’t feel the need to tell me everything that goes on. Everyone drinks in uni, I was up to much worse at his age,” he told her.
“I know, I know. I just worry about everyone. He’s like another little brother to me.” Rosie sighed, running a hand through her long blonde locks. She always put such a heavy burden on herself being the eldest of the second generation of the Holmes-Watson kids. She always was looking out for everyone, protecting everyone more so before herself. “It feels like he’s more so not just doing it for fun like what most people do in uni into making a habit out of it. Maybe I’m just reading into things too much, or maybe I’m just worrying too much... I don’t know.” She stopped herself for a moment. “Sorry, I’m rambling.”

“Have you always been this irritating or did I just forget?” he asked crossly.
“Depends… Have you always been this much of an asshole or did I just forget?” Oh Rosie was a Watson through and through, always one for the quick witted remark.

Sherlock was glad that Rosie had decided to finally be honest with him. It was far easier to get his information from her then to go to Mycroft and have to listen to him make a speel about how ‘if you’d allowed me to have a surveliance team for your kids this wouldn’t have happened in the first place,’ or 'If you can’t keep track of your own kids, why did you have them again?’ Victor’s words sounded all too familiar to him. Sherlock shook his head. “You don’t have to worry, I won’t tell him you told me anything. I’ll just blame it on my brother, he’s used to it.
“Thank you, I know he gets a bit, defensive about talking about things with you and Dad and all. I’d just rather avoid him getting annoyed at me for it if I can.” It wasn’t necessarily the most pleasant of experiences living with someone who hated you for ratting them out to their parent which was why Rosie wanted to avoid the topic as much as she could. “I do my best to keep everyone together and all, well as much as one can among with working and study.”

Victor felt bad for not being honest with Rosie, but the truth was he already felt weak ninety percent of the time and crying over his feelings would only make him feel that much worse. The nauseous feeling in his stomach had dulled down a bit, and he figured it was the best time to try and eat something so he nodded his head. “Chips sound good. So long as you promise to drop it?” he replied.
“Drop what?” She said with a smile, pushing the topic far behind. If Victor wanted to talk to her, he’d talk to her within due time. There was no point in pushing a topic that was always going to come around to a dead end, no matter how much she saw that something was bothering him. Grabbing her bag and keys, she opened up the door to their share house for him, letting him go through before closing and locking the door up behind them. “I’m just happy seeing you in one piece.”

“Or just the worst,” Victor replied. He shifted awkwardly where he stood, listening as Rosie spoke. He tucked his hands into the pockets of his jeans and nodded his head. “Yeah I know you are, but I don’t have anything to talk about. It’s just like I said - bad grade on a test,” he told her.
She bit down on her lower lip, unsure of what to say to him. Rosie wasn’t blind. She knew something was bothering. Something more so then just a bad grade on a test. She didn’t want to come off acting like a parent to him, bugging him. “Alright, if you say so...” A soft sigh escaped red lips, as an idea formed in her mind. Sherlock always used to say going out for chips if they were feeling down always would help take your mind off things. “Wanna go out and get some chips? Just go for a cool walk? Maybe it’d help sober you up?” She chuckled nervously, running a hand through her blonde hair.

His eyelids dropped into an an unamused expression as the corners of his lips tur end downward. “Since we started living together. If he might be coming here, K should know about it.” Honestly that would be the other guy’s worst nightmare for J.J. to be unprepared. “No offense, sis. But you’re track record of types aren’t that great.”
“Of course, do I have to call you every 5 minutes too? Let you know what I’m eating? Oh do I have to get your permission if I go see a raunchy film too?” Rosie adored her brother, she truly did. But she was the big sister, she was supposed to be the one looking out for him, protecting him. Which she did do - but she tried to keep her ways a little more subtle then he did. “JJ, I’m a big girl, I can handle myself. You don’t need to get all adorably protective and worry about me.” She leant over to him, ruffling his hair with an amused smirk.

Sherlock didn’t believe Rosie for a second, and he would probably find it humourous that she had tried to lie to him if he wasn’t so nervous about the well being of one of his two children. “Thank you for doing that,” he replied, but it honestly wasn’t Victor’s grades that he was worried about. He knew the boy was smart; even if he tried to appear not to be - but it was more so what he got himself into. Sherlock knew that he wasn’t one to judge, he had been getting into far more dangerous situations at Victor’s age but ever since the day he had been abducted there was this constant fear of his son developing far more than a liking for alcohol. “I know you mean well Rosie…but I’ll find out the truth eventually. I’d just prefer to hear it from you than my brother,” he told her.
“Okay, okay, okay...” She hated lying to Sherlock. He had this almost unnerving ability to always make her feel guilty, an ability she was guessing that only parents had the ability to do to those younger. A pain of an ability in Rosie’s mind. “He keeps coming back to our share house, smelling like he just took an hour long bath in some sort of liquor, and just says he’s in a bad mood cause of, something with all these excuses. I keep trying to get things out of him, but he just says he doesn’t want a parental lecture.” Rosie took a big breath, letting herself gather herself together again. “He’s probably going to kill me for that.”

Twin brows raised at the tired explanation that wandered out of his sister’s mouth; the little details slipped over his mind. There is only one thing that truly perturbed him. Holding a cup in his hand, he put the edge of it to his lips and tilted it to finish the last of its contents. A sigh escaped and his cerulean irises appeared irritated. “Why didn’t you at least tell me when you were leaving? Also, he looked like a J O K E. You can do better.”
“Wow, since when did Dad get a twin?” She rolled her eyes as she let herself relax and get back to her normal self. The night she had was long, all she wanted to do was crawl back into bed and sleep. But she had quite the feeling her brother had a different plan. “Since when do I have to check in with you on when I leave and come home from dates? And also you think no matter who I bring home I could do better. I could bring home a Prince and you’d still say the same thing.”

“Victor is doing fine, Uncle Sherlock.” Rosie said, in her most confident voice she could. She was the one checking in on Victor now ever since he was studying at the same institution as her, and the weekends seemed to be update times for Sherlock about his only son. “He said he had a couple of bad grades, but I promised to help him out if he needed anything study wise.” Sherlock didn’t need to know all the details - he’d probably deduce it out of her either way as it was.
