All around us, the carefully collected pieces of the lives we so vainly lead will fall apart like dominos. Still we will hold our smiles and the goods on our faces because we have known that we are the anomalies...the constants. (at KUTV Kenya) https://www.instagram.com/p/CIRP02xFpOL/?igshid=1i1wdp6klx4sg

If ever I was fruit for your tongue to choose, I would be the sweetness of seasoned grapes. I would revel in the sun's churning of my hue to pale purple knowing fully well that you tend to me only to get wine. To you, I will always be a swirl in your wine glass moments before you gaggle me down your throat in a moments worth of satisfaction. Still, I will choose this fruit for it's tenderness, it's poise, for it's understanding of how vain and frail this existence is. #fruit #fruits #fruitpoetry #picturepoetry #poetrycommunity #melaninpoppin (at Riruta, Nairobi Area, Kenya) https://www.instagram.com/p/CH2yvTVlYWp/?igshid=ubmkuzyew0rj

We have walked this earth the rigidity of an avocado seed. Our fears and dispair have made our countenance tough. Our human cores have become emotionless. We have suffered the fear to feel for far too long. We have sauntered through this meaningless existence with the mushy soft layered greasy stance of our superficial selves. We have sought for clout and found it. We have embalmed our hard hearts with this clout. Life has eaten through our superficial layers like a cancer and left nothing but the shells we are and the seeds that they once encased.bis there hope for an avocado seed? Even avocado seeds in all their toughness give rise to new life…the thumps in our chests assure us of hope…we are yet to be lost causes.

What if onions wrapped each other in their layers with love and the tears we shed as we dismembered them were their way of demanding for our remorse. You will feel their pain as they simmer in the pits of your eyelids demanding a Requiem mass. They will not beg for another day to hold each other...they will be silent through their butchering... Onions seem to understand something we dont, that life is vain and it's end is inevitable and that we should stick together even in the threshing jaws of certain demise (at Shalom House Nairobi) https://www.instagram.com/p/CHV8CDKFGCR/?igshid=1xjcyi6nnq5an

We are the sons of fathers that dared to linger. We are the fruits of the wombs of mothers that have been the very syllables to a word many have called 'Love'. If the only thing we had to give this vain existence is an ounce of the love our mothers have shared with us then we will have lived a legacy many can only dream #photographyart #mysteriouswords #poetry #southafrica #melanin #goddess (at Kenya Community Media Network) https://www.instagram.com/p/CHKalGxlaaz/?igshid=guys3xpujcbw

If smiling was an infectious disease we would be patient zero, the willing proponents for a pandemic that would hit you with a love so potent the troubles of this life would be lost in translation This life is a raging war of many things...we chin up and smile because it is the only thing we have power over...when you meet with us we hope we give you the infectious conviction to smile too #photographyart #mysteriouswords #poetry #southafrica #melanin #goddess (at The Chat Room) https://www.instagram.com/p/CHCZjupFXFC/?igshid=1gwksu2fopler

So I really wanted to put some poetry to this picture....but it didn't speak to me the way all others usually do. I think it has something to do with how bomb and collected the very delectable @chemutaisage is and nothing at all to do with how wide my mouth is open! Also, remember to live a little today. There is air in your lungs. Make it count for something #photographyart #mysteriouswords #poetry #southafrica #melanin #goddess (at Nairobi, Kenya) https://www.instagram.com/p/CG_9oVklozl/?igshid=hi4xqngzqbfu

We have walked this earth a human existence of enchanted tales. Our heritage boils in the depth of our eyes and our authority vibrates in the chords of our throats. Our words have been called poetry by many...many more have called them wisdom... We are reincarnations of centuries of rulers called moors... We are kings and queens young blood. It is not by mistake that our skin glows. #photographyart #mysteriouswords #poetry #southafrica #melanin #goddess (at Alliance Française de Nairobi) https://www.instagram.com/p/CG9Z_r8lYVk/?igshid=18jv767cslg48

We will carry our weights with us a collection of the scraps and shards of hope that we have for humanity. If you look keenly you will see them, the hopes, gleaming in the crystal stance of our eyes (at Nairobi, Kenya) https://www.instagram.com/p/CG5bP56Fc7j/?igshid=147ec114rz1in

If words could heal the wounds of this world, we would commune together front row center in the theatres of this world. We would finesse in the eloquence of our presentations...not because we want to...but because we need to. We are the words to poems our forefathers could only humm. We are the syllables to promises our ancestors could only wish that they would be able to give.
We can afford smiles because many before us have brocken their backs for the joy we have today. To smile is to honor them.

You’re a light left on in a house I can no longer visit
But I often walk by to feel close to you, if only for a minute
Just a a minute to gaze into the windows of our love.
And though it hurts to see flickers of what we once were,
Like a moth drawn to light
I carelessly float back
Again and again
Just to burn.

We are the tender stories of generations that have come and gone long before we drew our first breaths. We are the hummed melodies of our forefathers when they couldn't form the words to the lyrics of the songs that we were to become. Would you blame them? How would you quantify Into syllables the universe of possibilities that was us swimming through the revel of their loins unaware of the cosmic weight our existence would stir up in the alignment of the galaxies that are our existence? We will sing because our songs don't come from us...we are the privileged who have been touched with the words to songs our forbearers could only humm... https://www.instagram.com/p/CGpqcioFwpT/?igshid=17qfkr25frv96
