Making Of Magic: A behind the scenes peek into the ateliers of Dior as skilled artisans put the finishing touches on a romantic gown which star Natalie Portman wears in the new ‘Miss Dior’ ad campaign. The beautiful gown was of course designed by Raf Simons, and consisted of 5000 tiny lace flowers each delicately cut and coloured, one by one and completely by hand; to cast the dreamy hues of powder pink and heavenly white the most skilled artisans used a glazing technique which originated in watercolour painting, making each petal beautifully special and unique, such as a snowflake. Each miniature Haute Couture creation was embroidered to hearty double-face satin, which is a traditional custom in use of the house of Christian Dior’s wedding gowns - especially fitting, as the latest campaign film shows a young bride on an island the vision of paradise deserting her wedding to live her life in a free, individual, modern and enchanting way, absolutely embodying the spirit of the Dior woman.
