what’s your role in a found family dynamic?

the protective one.

it does not require much for you to take someone under your wing. you have a knack for seeing the best in others and rooting for them, and they look up to you in turn. they feel that you are safe to go to in times of chaos or strife, and are calmed by your presence. you take extra measures to make sure everyone feels supported. things that others might not even consider, you have already likely accounted for. in most scenarios, you are "the leader." your struggles tend to come from your desire to provide things to others. you want to give, to see those you love happy, to make wherever you are a place of comfort. your failures hit you hard because you see this as your responsibility, and you hate to let people down. ...okay, yes, there's no avoiding it: this is the parent friend.

HE’S PRETTY SURE THEIR SENSORS didn’t pick up any ion storms before they docked at the station for shore leave. But the station that Captain Kirk landed on was not filled with the Enterprise crew he expected to see. Instead  ,  he was met by an army  that didn’t look particularly happy to see him. Luckily he kept his phaser on him (a habit he’s never dropped  ,  and for good reason). Even luckier yet  ,  he ran into someone who just so happened to be in a similar predicament.

THE TWO WERE SURPRISINGLY IN SYNC for having just met. He didn’t even know the man’s name  ,  but what Jim knew is that he was good with that weapon of his (he knows Sulu would just love to get his hands on one). The battlefield has never been the most opportune time for introductions.

BETWEEN BLASTS OF HIS PHASER  ,  HE MERELY SHRUGS. “I would hardly call it retreating. They obviously don’t want us here,” And he’s right. That alarm just screams bad news. “So the wisest thing to do would be .  .  .  honor their request.” Kirk knows when to choose his battles. There are some that you feel you can win with your eyes closed  ,  and others that seem downright impossible. This is one of those times. The sea of droids (as his sword-wielding companion called them) just continues growing no matter how many they shoot or slice down. If running means they escape with their lives  ,  then damn it  ,  that’s a win in his book.

HOW CLOSE IS HIS SHIP. That’s a good question. He reaches down with his free hand to grab his communicator  ,  flipping it open. “Kirk to Enterprise. Kirk to Enterprise.” He waits for a response  ,  but all he receives is silence. Shit. He snaps it shut again  ,  before giving him a wry smile. “A ride would be great  ,  thank you.”

"Mm. Yes," Obi-Wan agrees with some consideration, concern creasing a line between his brows. He must admit the man has something of a talent for understatement. "I hate to suggest retreat," they are outgunned, yes, given they are nearly entirely surrounded at the moment, but Obi-Wan has cut down hundreds and thousands of droids by now and his acquaintance here isn't too shabby even with only that little blaster of his, either. "But that alarm doesn't sound very good at all."

Rather, it sounds like it is indicating a critical failure with nearly every system upon the station. Which means Anakin is, once again, proving to be a little too good at his job. The whole thing is likely to go down with them still on it, at this rate. He casts a sideways glance to the man beside him.

"How close is your ship?" Surely it must be around here somewhere, how else would he have wound up on this station to begin with? He doesn't look like a prisoner - and tthe Separatists do not take many of those to begin with. "Mine's just down the corridor. The least I could do is offer you a lift."
