I just finished Every Heart A Doorway by Seanan McGuire. It’s fantastic and leaves you wanting more. This by far was my favorite quote. #readfantasy #seananmcguire

After watching the Artemis Fowl movie I’ve decided Kenneth Branagh didn’t make it, Gilderoy Lockhart did. Now I need a memory charm to take away the hour and a half I wasted watching this movie. Thank you Mr. Lockhart for ruining this adaptation just like you ruined defense against the dark arts.

So, the Artemis Fowl movie dropped this morning.... and I have an awesome story
When I was in fourth grade, a girl named Deidre from Ireland moved to my town, and was put into my homeroom. She was quieter, and some students made fun of her accent, so my best friend and I kind of took her in.
We absolutely LOVED fairies, and she started shared all kinds of fairy stories with us from Irish folklore. During DEAR time, we started going to the library and reading Artemis Fowl together, and she would read the dialogue in her Irish accent.
I moved, and we didn’t have phones at the time and fell out of contct. I hadn’t heard from her for years.
Until today.
Today, when I got a call at 11:00 in the morning, and picked up to the sound of a very angry Irish voice.
“Hi Katie this is Deidre I don’t know if you remember me but we read Artemis Fowl together and I watched the movie this morning and–”
Essentially, went on to let out the Irish slang of exploitives I have ever heard about this film adaptation. Some of which were in Gaelic.
So yeah. Needless to say I died laughing.
I was like “of course I remember you Deirdre”, and we exchanged numbers and laughed about this bizarre way of reconnecitng. She literally googled my name to find my number.
Long story short, the terrible Artemis Fowl movie led to an unexpected call from an old Irish friend.

Disney+: We made an Artemis Fowl adaptation!
Me: You screwed up a perfectly good glorious bastard child, is what you did. Look at him, he has morals and no need for a redemption arc now.
