Update, Some New Goals!
Hey everyone!
I’ve been reflecting on how to improve the consistency and quality of the content I share with you all, and I’ve decided it’s time to shake things up a little! Starting in 2025, I’m really going to focus on sticking to a schedule that works for me, and hopefully, for you too.
First things first: I’m going to keep Miscellaneous Media Moments on random Mondays, so you can still expect that fun, surprise content every now and then.
As for Thirteen Thursday Thoughts—after giving it some thought, I’ve decided to pause it for now. It’s been fun, but I want to try something different for a bit.
Now, here’s the exciting part: Five-Hundred Fantasy Fridays are officially happening! I’m starting a reading challenge, where I aim to read 500 books in the fantasy genre. Why fantasy, you ask? It’s a genre I’m passionate about, and it’s one I love to write in!
But that’s not all! I’m also introducing Writing Wednesday. On Wednesdays I hope to share a little something from one of my many works in progress. Whether it's a writing snippet, character development, or just some musings on the writing process, I’ll be giving you a glimpse behind the curtain as I work on my stories. It’s a great way to stay connected with my creative journey, and I’d love for you to be a part of it!
I’m excited for this new chapter and hope you are too. I’ll be sharing regular updates on my reading challenge, my writing progress, and maybe some behind-the-scenes as I explore this process. If you’ve got any book recommendations, writing tips, or just want to chat about all things creative, drop me a comment. Let’s read, write, and grow together!
Thanks for being part of the journey!

Thirteen Thursday Thoughts concerning romance/Valentine movies to watch
It is that time of year where everything is covered in reds and pinks and hearts! Everyone is thinking about love in some way or another, fondly or with an eye roll. I commonly watch movie with some friends or siblings this year while eating some chocolate and thought I'd leave Thirteen Thoughts in no particular order on movies to watch for the Valentine season. As always feel free to buy me a coffee and to leave your favorite romance/Valentine movie in the comments!
Starting off with Pride and Prejudice: whether it is the 2005 version with Keira Knightley and Matthew Macfadyen or the 1995 mini series with Colin Firth this is a classic watch.
An obvious companion to the one above is of course Sense and Sensibility: the 1995 movie with Alan Rickman and Hugh Grant is the one that I watch most but I have recently discovered the 2008 series with David Morrissey and thought that it was enjoyable in its own way.
Now those might be too dramatic for you and for those who might be in the mood for a bit of comedy, Much Ado About Nothing: the 1993 movie is the most easily accessed one and it stars Emma Thompson and Keanu Reeves in it, for those who truly want a rip roaring time I suggest finding through Youtube the version with David Tennant and Cathrine Tate in it.
Another more comedic romantic movie would be The Importance of Being Earnest: the 2002 movie staring Judi Dench, Reese Witherspoon, Rupert Everett, and Colin Firth.
We're going to go for a sharp turn and enter musical territory here for a moment with Phantom of the Opera: the 2004 movie with Gerard Butler, I don't know what to say about this other than that the opening scene is not something to miss so you want to have your drink and snacks and be comfy before you start this one.
Keeping with the musical theme but going for a lighter note there is Mamma Mia! This 2008 musical has quite the star studded cast and is a simple joy filled pleasure. It's also the third movie that I've listed that has Colin Firth in it, huh.
Leaving the musical theme but keeping the simple joy we have The Inheritance: the 1997 movie with Thomas Gibson. This movie also is wonderful for any horse loving peeps out there cause part of the conflict revolves around a horse competition. This is a bit of an underrated gem in my opinion and I would love for more people to see it and give it the love it deserves.
Another hidden and underrated gem is Dear Frankie: a 2004 movie with Emily Mortimer and Gerard Butler. This sweet film also introduced me to the song The Great White Horse by Buck Owens and it plays as a connecting moment between the characters.
Fantasy and Romance come together in The Princess Bride. If you haven't seen this movie than you are in for such a delight. It has everything from giants to sword-fights and of course a few kissy scenes for the romantic element.
Fantasy and Romance are also the main genres of Ladyhawke: this movie was made in 1985 and is one that so few people have heard of. Two lovers cursed to be forever apart but always together is such an interesting concept and pulled off very well. I will warn that the movie starts off slow but it has a good ending worth the effort in my opinion.
A bit of espionage with romance is found in the classic Scarlet Pimpernel movie of 1982 staring a young Ian McKellen alongside Jane Seymour and Anthony Andrews.
Returning to classic romance there is Our Mutual Friend the 1998 tv series. This series features multiple relations to follow as they intertwine around each other.
A final choice for this list must be made and it is a difficult choice. I am going to recommend the Jane Eyre series of 1983 staring Timothy Dalton. Now admittedly Timothy Dalton is a tad too handsome to fit the character of Mr. Rochester but this is the only adaptation of Jane Eyre that I've actually enjoyed watching despite the other adaptations having brilliant actors and actresses in their own right.

Alright so I'm watching the anime The Way of the Househusband on Netflix and writing my thoughts as I watch. This might be a tad unhinged, but here we go. As always if you liked this content feel free to be me a coffee. Also, yes, I do know that there a multiple episodes in each episode but I'm going to number them by how they're contained and labeled through Netflix as that's how I'm watching it :)
Episode 5
A job outside of the house in a cafe interesting, beans =bullets, the latte art of a cat, aww doing it for extra cash to get his wife a present
He's so loud, Again the food in this series really does deserve its own analysis post, overtime is exhausting,
Boss lady of the torii group in a grocery,
this is going to be a disaster of a birthday lol, wow happy birthday song as a dirge, shades and bling
the old boss has a dog, he sewed a sweater for the dog! nice tie in to previous episode, the impromptu cooking is wild,
The cat adventure with the grocery lady
Episode 6
he was totally going to roast that lady's "72 hour" cured sausage, he's taking this show so seriously, man loves his wife so much
the excitement over the steam oven, white powder=flour again nice call back, well that's one way to beat the dough, oven down!, keep warm on the rice cooker is innovative
fire next door, talk about needing proper air ventilation. the cops probably wanted some food, oh its rare eh
I admit nothing, oh nice flowers, oh its not that much and then proceeds to unwrap a dessert feast, rain as a mood killer, they're such a good couple
why would you try hitting a watermelon blindfolded?, the volleyball smacking into them, I love how Miku can be high energy as well, a real man is willing to get wracked protecting his loving wife, her carrying him
teacher au?? what am i watching?, apron art, the intensity in this scene
Episode 7
tapioca milk tea, getting the intel from the streets, the scary smiles keeping the customers away XD
Adding to the arsenal of the blond guy
The waking up to the husband in the middle of the night is seriously ominous, well that was an interesting take on the classic peach boy story, and then they had a group hug,
The hit list of summer assignments, a pen holder, colorful soap, school is tomorrow, the report to the teacher is so good
Tatsu you're so dramatic ( this is true, he a very dramatic king), oh the housespouse meet up, family gopher, the differing interpretations of what he's describing, is that really what Miku is rally like?, listening in one the one side of the conversation, the support from the housewives is so good
Oh, cat adventure of fair fighting with the other cat
Episode 8
urg the rap battle, so unnecessary, the explanation of what a rap battle is, the punch of silence, well ok
take it easy (yeah no, this guy has no chill), febreze the sheets, instant noodles as a vice lol, Masa helping him take it easy but as a horror show, Tatsu kicking him as a flight or fight moment
Wanting second place instead of first for the rice, and Miku wants the vacation, what a bribe, the kid wins of course
buffet battlefield, welp I'm hungry now, fruit with cream cheese is a delicious combo, aww the splitting of a desert
Oh, the dad wants to do the hotpot, Dad and Miku cooking like each other, Miku being a wild child (this explains so much), aww the dad saying she has someone else to protect her now and then Tatsu saying he has the dad's back, the mom being the true master is perfect
Masa wanting make his boss proud through the way of the househusband, tomorrow though
Episode 9
Virus depicted as a group of punks, trying to head off a cold through early preventive measures is such a mood, Miku being the light aww, the light with grenades lol
new threads, Masa is so not subtle, the brown powder as opposed to the white powder, and Masa has officially broken, Pine Dew huh, Tatsu sleeping with eyes open, the utter chaos and Masa being the sober one, the next day drawing of them is adorable
Will I need to use my dagger? no a normal knife will do, the intense music x_x,
The power couple helping the newlyweds
winged pup from the sky, you can't run from boss fights!, the magic girl transformation, the deconstruction of the outfit, Its all a dream and the meeting next week is perfect
Oh no cat adventure this episode
Episode 10
The fact that Miku has such high energy, the toys r us tribute
Sending dog pics to his boss, the bonding over the dogs, the random kidnapping, but its to a dog park
The cafe hurts the guys eyes, too much sweet things, lemon and honey chicken sounds good, the flashbacks paired with the wistful music is a nice choice, I don't remember there being a wasp
ok extreme dental care, um yeah that's not a good way to get a kid to the dentist, gotta face the music
counting to try and get to sleep, calming sounds turning to dark past is hilarious, also him without glasses is rather adorable, accidentally made a whole meal (he's got adhd a bit doesn't he), the cat being awake
the cat adventure with crow/raven
End of Season One!
Alright well thanks for coming to this Miscellaneous Media Moment where I do unhinged and most likely nonsensical rambling of what I watched is a thing. I will most likely continue at some point, so stay tuned and please let me know if this is a format that you liked. Along with any comments on the show that you have.

Miscellaneous Media Moment
Alright so I'm watching the anime The Way of the Househusband on Netflix and writing my thoughts as I watch. This might be a tad unhinged, but here we go. As always if you liked this content feel free to be me a coffee. Also, yes, I do know that there a multiple episodes in each episode but I'm going to number them by how they're contained and labeled through Netflix as that's how I'm watching it :)
Episode one
The intro music is not what I was expecting. Very metal
The tattooed back, wow detail work
the interaction between him and wife, cute
Him taking pics of the food
The entire interaction between him and the cops, subtle/not subtle info drop, the fact he got pulled over on a bicycle, the coupon
Have I caught you at a bad time? No I was just carving something up? Blades. You going to show me the goods then? (This entire dialog and visual sequence was such hilarious and good writing in showing his cooking skills)
Being excited over the cabbage
The recycling of the bottles, I had such a flashback to all the times I've done it myself
Turf = Family
LOL the slapping
The black and white target acquired, such a cut from the last scene
The juxtaposition between the violence/serious noir vibe and sweet/silly moments!!
Oh he's trying so hard for his wife and she's just like wha? Also the fact she can match his intensity and smack him out the window is hilarious and good showing of their relationship dynamic
The end of the episode with the cat POV, is an interesting choice. Cat and bugs.
Episode Two
The metal intro is going to be the off putting thing for me isn't it. I get it suits the character backstory but my ears say ouch.
The intense bursts of music and the cut to the roomba, lol
Obligatory Ceremony (Wedding) GASP
Destruction via cat and roomba ending in bloody disaster
The flatline noise for the policure thingie
Everybody makes mistakes and it matters how you handle it afterwards paired with six feet under is great
Again with the slapping, lol
Nothing like getting hit by a 2 by 4. (Whoever wrote the dialog for this series did so well!)
The hula hooping, is that a smile?, strike a pose, This the [insert dark past] pose, the dedication to his wife and the pic of wife using the hula hoop is so cute
the good white powder = flour, the yes ma'am, the fact that she is so not intimidated by him at all and can outmatch that energy in his POV is adorable
Ok, so the ending with a cat adventure is going to be a running thing. Neat. Cat with dog.
Episode Three
Yay, Netflix allows me to skip intro!
The Tiger vs Dragon rivalry, the househusband vs crepe slinger cook off, the food commentary, the photo shoot and winning by one like lol
differing car standards, room for putting a person in the trunk, driving defensively, what did I just watch O...O
Again with the slapping, the chemistry lesson, the hardware store line, the differing stains and intense cleaning, cut to the calming laundry line
Him learning more skills... peak character moment
Street Vender = Rip Off, simple items interpreted with dark intentions
Patio garden, air pumping the bicycle wheels, the cops staking him out to begin with and them seeing this as criminal behavior, busting into the birthday party is such a moment, the line "you're one feminine felon" (Seriously as someone who hates to write dialog this shows one lines are so satisfying and hilarious)
Cat adventure with other cat and litter box.
Episode Four
The slow-mo for the volley ball, the volleyball face-off and how into it each team go into it, the handshake of good game and the group pic afterwards
The wife following along her husband's day is cute, the dog plushie reward
THE FOOD ALONE DESERVES AN ANALYSIS POST!!!
The x = y subtitles as sub context is hilarious and, also the back flashes being used to add story depth without info dumping
He is such a drama king, equally matched by his wife's antics. The entire cockroach sequence showing this. The wife's poor aim!
Intense and Scary Santa, delivering extreme food. That's not a sleigh. the running gag of him being pulled over on a bicycle by the cops is perfect!
Oh, no cat adventure, interesting break of pattern
Alright well thanks for coming to this Miscellaneous Media Moment where I do unhinged and most likely nonsensical rambling of what I watched is a thing. I will most likely continue at some point, so stay tuned and please let me know if this is a format that you liked. Along with any comments on the show that you have.

Top Thirteen Thursday
It's spooky season and while it has been some time since my last post. So let's make a change about that! Have some of my Top Thirteen movies, more or less ;) to watch for Halloween in no particular order. As always feel free to buy me a coffee and to leave your favorite Halloween movies in the comments!
The Canterville Ghost (1996) staring Sir Patrick Stewart. This is an easy and mild movie for Halloween but a classic non the less.
2. Winchester (2018). This another fairly mild movie with a rating of PG-13 that has some well placed jump scares and tense moments, overall a more story driven movie with supernatural/ghost elements.
3. Tower of Terror (1997). This is a Disney movie and honestly just a lot of good fun, it is not rated oddly enough though I can't really see it being rated more than PG-13 at most.
4. What Lies Beneath (2000). Rated PG-13 and staring Harrison Ford. This is more of a psychological supernatural story. Fun fact is that it's screenplay was written by Clark Gregg so that's cool!
5. When A Stranger Call (1979 rated R & 2006 rated PG-13). So speaking of Clark Gregg, he shows up momentarily in the 2006 version of this movie. Both of these versions are a good suspense thriller as the protagonist tries to stay alive with killer playing cat and mouse with them. Also When a Stranger Calls Back (1993 rated R) is worth a look if you like the 1979 movie.
6. Dream House (2011). Rated PG-13 staring Daniel Craig, Rachel Weisz, and Naomi Watts. A simple plot with a mystery. The actors do a good job of carrying the story, which yes isn't very deed but it is well executed.
7. Sleepy Hollow (1999). Rated R and staring Johnny Depp. It's a ride wild on Irving's Legend of Sleepy Hollow and slightly odd at times but a good watch and an interesting take on the characters involved.
8. House on Haunted Hill (1959). Not Rated and staring Vincent Price. Five guests in a maybe haunted mansion and murder afoot. Honestly just about anything staring Vincent Price will more than likely fit right on in with the spooky season!
9. A Quiet Place (2018). Rated PG-13 and more of a science fiction suspense than a horror, but let me tell you that had to be the quietest theater full of people ever when I went and saw it with family.
10. The Sixth Sense (1999). Rated PG-13 this movie is a classic with it's famous line of "I see dead people" and if you don't know the twist I most certainly am not going to spoil it.
11. Shutter Island (2010). Rated R and staring Mark Ruffalo, Leonardo DiCaprio, and Ben Kingsley. This is categorized as a Thriller/Mystery and the story that is told has re-watch value to notice all the details that the makers made sure to put in there. I'm not saying a lot here cause I don't want to spoil it but my family when we first watched went right back and watched it immediately again, not because we were confused but because you can get a new experience with knowing eyes the second time around.
12. Stonehearst Asylum (2014). Rated PG-13 and staring Ben Kingsley, Micheal Caine, and David Thewlis. This is a Thriller/Mystery/Horror mix that keeps you on your toes trying to guess what is really going on and who the main character can actually trust.
13. It's the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown (1966). A classic and only 25 minutes long, I got a rock.
And there you have my Top Thirteen Halloween movies! There is certainly a list I could make of Honorable Mentions, but maybe I'll do that next year... Stay Spooky!

I am beautiful. I am Strong and Hardworking. I am fairly fun to be around and my laughter brings others Joy. I have an accent that is very cool, often mistaken as British! But what other people think of me does not actually matter, EVER. Truth is I may not be like a flower, or even like Christmas lights, I might be dull like a sparrow or a moth. This is fine though as God sees every sparrow (Matthew 10: 29-31) and really interesting people like moths.
