It's crazy how many people use Death of the Author to mean "separating the art from the artist" when it's actually not supposed to have anything to do with who the author is as a person and is supposed to be about the idea that the author's interpretation of their own work should not be seen as the definitive, correct opinion on that work. Like you're not supposed to invoke Death of the Author when JK Rowling devotes her entire life and fortune to transphobia, you're supposed to invoke it when Trent Reznor says Closer by Nine Inch Nails isn't a sex song.

tried to explain to a white liberal that i felt weird seeing white people make racist sounding jokes about AI ("tin crow laws", "wirebacks/silverbacks", "my daughter better not come home with no god damn clanker") because of how ingrained it is into the "white" identity to incite genocide by inventing an outgroup, and how that's the only "white heritage" that exists because "whiteness" was invented 200 years ago from ideology.

i was told i was "flexing my history knowledge" for bringing this up, and then accused of promoting bioessentialism for saying racism defines white blood-- something objectively true, as "whiteness" cannot exist without an outgroup.

Andrew Hussie uses any pronouns and everyone Gio was in contact with acting as Hussie's go-between used he/him pronouns for them, and then Gio edited the article like less than a day after publishing to change all the pronouns/gendered language and remove the needlessly edgy joke section title. Not gonna act like Gio is the most pure innocent little baby to ever exist but acting like they come off even a fraction as bad as anyone at Homestuck/What Pumpkin/HICU is kinda wild and painting the blog post as some sort of transmisogynistic hit piece feels like you're seeking a problem anywhere a transfemme is involved.

look i also think the homestuck fandom is in fact way more defensive of hussie than they merit and way too quick to spread unsourced rumours about anyone who criticizes them but this nasty little "you crazy hysterical women are just LOOKING for oppression" routine is absolutely vile. it's not about the pronouns, it was about the extremely loaded use of language about hussie being an 'angry man' and an 'alpha male'. i also think "me being legally intimidated with copyright lawsuit threats¹ is kind of like the holocaust" is a little more worthy of criticism than a 'needlessly edgy joke'.

i think it's good that gio edited it (and, unlike you, didn't whine about how those paranoid woke trannies made him do it!), and that definitely lends credence to reading it as something other than a transmisogynistic hitpiece, but this kind of sneering posturing about how all the trans women who had alarm bells go off when they read a rambling sephiroth manifesto about how an nb person was an Angry Abusive Man were just snowflakes who wanted to be offended is just truly loathsome.

also you are doing one of the worst things gio did right here, which is randomly speculating and expanding the scope of your real and founded criticisms based on source: i made it up. miles and hussie certainly come across just absolutely fucking horrendously, but "anyone at HICU"? knowing what we know about working conditions on homestuck related projects in the past surely if you are critical of hussie's behaviour you should be like... concerened for the well-being and work environment of the hsbc team instead of randomly firing strays at them?

The main problem with making sweeping statements about What Christians Believe is that most people don't know that they're heretics. I have folks in my own family who profess to be Romanian Orthodox but also believe in karma and the cycle of reincarnation. They're 100% convinced that this is scripturally supported.

People act like I'm just being an asshole but man the whole reason I'm so anal about hating gambling mechanics is because I've been down that road and lost a ton of money on games I just stopped playing eventually anyway and it SUCKS and the more you learn about dark pattern design the more you realize that this entire corner of the game industry is just fully focused on screwing vulnerable people out of their money and it's just evil, plain and simple.
