“HEART TRANSPLANT” 20”x24” Acrylic

Heart ache is an ever consuming feeling in our contemporary western society. One could say that this has been a truth for centuries but heart ache has reached an all time high, at a very fast rate. Heart ache metaphorically speaking is the state of a person who is lacking full happiness, and lacking happiness can also be known as depression. Due to the increasing humanistic and individualistic ideologies we become more and more separated from those feelings of happiness. To try and ease the pain we fall into cycles of consumption, selfishness, etc., which only lead to a deeper pain with the lie of immediate joy. But, in our desperate yearning for joy we either forget or reject a heart which is always willing to replace our own failing heart…the Heart of Christ.

Admitting you became a necessity, does nothing to restore serenity Desiring the amenities that come with your presence and its missing impurities  Deludes my thoughts and reason, because having you, changes the darkest of seasons I didn’t realize my heart was in prison, falling in love with you was its only treason  Captive by your underestimated power, which grows more intense by the hour  Too many memories that we call ours, where reality let fantasies and dreams devour Expecting to see your eyes once more, and not drift farther from ashore Deeper into an ocean my feelings pour, and my heart stopped smiling as it tore Telling me to come back to reality, but there…. you are not with me Obeying the call to once again see, that which has lived on in memory

Deviating from your intoxicating yet so-- nurturing ways started long ago Inquiries as to why continue to grow, as expectations of the old you remain low Should the memories of yesteryear help compensate that you are not emotionally here Is your mere presence near, enough to overcome all fear Looking at a glimpse of our past, made me think that we would always last Lusting for a fast fix does not help the problems that have grown vast Usually with depression, you take over and become my obsession  Subtly the sensation begins to fall victim to another argument of your creation I never thought that it would be like this, at times begging for a kiss Oh how I miss, those delicate and passionate moments that gave me a glimpse of bliss Now if only you could feel the same, and reach that emotion when you utter my name Every time you get mad I take the blame, I would always be the loser if it were a game Do you still feel it? At least a little bit? Is the flame still lit? Do you really want to quit?
