BNHA Chapter 217

HOO a lot of things in this chapter to unpack!!

Bakugou being invited to Dadmight tea parties. YES. There’s no Bakugou going nuts at Deku potentially having multiple quirks – like compare with the first time he sees Deku using OFA during the baseball throw exercise. Instead, straight away, he is genuinely curious, genuinely trying to help figure it out and is leading the conversation and line of questioning (linking it to AFO!!), before, perhaps overzealously, helping Deku in training to try trigger black whips again. Even if he’s telling himself that he’s helping so that he can be the undeniable No. 1, he still is coming across as very invested

I wonder… did Deku tell them everything, like about how he will be getting several more quirks, or just about hellboy? Cause if AM knows that, he could tell Deku what Nana’s quirk was etc. 

Deku hesitant to say that what actually triggered the first black whips rampage was him going nuts over Monoma insulting Bakugou. Maybe BW is genuinely an emotionally triggered quirk, which would be an interesting thing for DK to have to work on

“…are you all right?” I really feel for All Might right now, I think it’s clear he feels really powerless and lost … there is almost a tangiable distance now between him and Deku? AAH could we please have a dadmight hug,  I feel that would solve everything.

I think subtly, he’s starting to draw Deku looking a little older (which, he should be doing given the passage of time?)

Class A & B being pals is just golden. When Monoma’s away, the mice will play. 

TODOROKI “I’M NOT HURT THAT YOU DIDN’T TELL ME THAT YOU HAD A SECOND QUIRK BUT I’M ACTUALLY REALLY HURT” SHOUTO  - I loved this little bit, he genuinely looks hurt that Midoriya didn’t tell HIM of all people that he was hiding another power, but then he switches to instantly being sorry that he ever even doubted Deku AND may I add, is like the only one since, I dunno, maybe Shinsou saying to himself that he knew Deku wasn’t bluffing, to point out how rough the black whip rampage looked for DK. 

Bakugou witnessing this entire conversation is golden.

I i i i i in teresting stuff coming up regarding whatever the “flashfire” thing is. I feel we are within touching distance of the Touya Todoroki/Dabi backstory.

Uuuuuuuh what’s that little erasermic backstory stuff? Do I detect perhaps a TRAGIC Aizawa backstory??!?

MIRIOOOOOOO. My boy. Glad to see you back. Glad that you taught Eri who the true darkness of UA is. 

All the Monoma/Eri stuff about accumulative quirks is really interesting, and the Deku/Eri scene was really cute. If her accumulated power is reflected in the size of her horn, perhaps when she is happy and the horn is small, her quirk would actually be safer to use? I’m a little sad that Monoma couldn’t use it, as I thought that would maybe be a way to restore Tin Tin. 

Seeing Fatgum? In MY hero academia? It’s more likely than you think.
