i love the phrase "sex pervert" like. as opposed to what? abstinence pervert?

Just from a practical perspective, it's best to go with "free the nipple means *all* the nipples".

Consider Tumblr's infamous ban on "female presenting nipples". If you need to know the gender identity of the subject to fairly apply the rules, those are inherently rules that will not be applied fairly and equally.

Or look at the trans women protesting topless in the UK. Lots of people think it's obscene, but by the very laws they're protesting those are "men's nipples" so legal. An absurd outcome.

Another absurd example: does a cancer survivor who gets a double mastectomy need a top at the pool? If she has no breast and no nipple, what is she hiding?

How about a trans man who recently gave birth? Can he let the milky boys hang out?

And yes these are edge cases. But if your rules and laws didn't handle the edge cases, they're *bad* laws and rules.

The simple fact is, even if you don't care about trans people or cancer survivors, having lines drawn between "okay to show nipple in public" and "not okay" means that sooner or later someone is going to get caught in the grey area because that always happens.

And that's not hyperbole! Every couple of years you'll see an article where the police in some beach town are literally pulling out rulers to measure women's breasts to determine if their bikinis are indecent. Is that the world you want to live in? Where "female body inspector" isn't a joke but something police literally do?

No. Free the nipple. Some people's discomfort over nipples is a fat better price to pay then policing nipples.

Voter suppression is very real, and it doesn't just show up as long lines, gerrymandering, and other physical barriers to putting your ballot in the box.

Voter suppression most frequently means demoralizing, discouraging, and other emotionally manipulative ways to convince people that their vote doesn't matter. One of the most common and effective tactics online is to work people up with purity tests, to convince people that, for instance, it's a good idea to kneecap the one guy who is currently the loudest and most effective voice countering Trump, because [fill in whatever the reason, usually that he's a lame centrist].

Newsom is my governor. He leaves a LOT to be desired for leftists like me, but he's a powerful, effective, unflinching and relentless voice speaking truth to Fascism. We need him. We need more voices like his.

So when you hear someone praising him for speaking up, when you see one of his clever posts skewering shitler, and you see people responding positively to his willingness to fight, and fight hard, just join in that celebration. And shut down anyone who does "yeah, but ..." because now is not the time.

We are all in this together. Fuck Trump, fuck Maga, and fuck everyone who supports them.

They are our enemy -- a word I don't use lightly -- and we need to remember that. Stay on target.
