I wish you guys had the internet I had growing up. Doom scrolling wasn't a thing. There were no smart phones. You had this huge anvil looking computer monitor and a whole room dedicated to the family computer, but you were only allowed on there to play zoo tycoon or studying for class. Of course, not like we obeyed that. We would burn CDs our favorite songs and risk murdering our computer with sketchy websites and viruses. There were forums for any subject from anime to videogames, all the way to boring shit like car parts. If you had a question, a forum could answer it. I recall a day when I didn't know what the terms "spam" "mod" and "bump" meant.

AI was a fancy and distant future ala star trek, not today's misinformation machine. Adult content wasn't banned, and children had their own spaces, without the companies trying to sell you vbucks or skins. You could buy a game on a DVD/CD and put it in and it would JUST PLAY. No update. No need for internet if you lived in a rural area. Nothing. We used to call it a floppy disk, not the save icon. We actually spent time AWAY from the computer too. And it wasn't so infectious that we had FOMO.

I actually met my best friend of 13+ years on an ATLA website. You can't do that today without risking it being a child predator.
