✶ - for the record, the only thing keeping me going through this finals week is that after i get to reboot this blog

✶ - SEMI-HIATUS NOTICE .      i got the gre comin’ up in 2 months & studying for it is ripping away all the energy i usually have for creative endeavors so … yeah , i’m gonna need a break from consistent posting . you’ll see me here & there as i have muse for threads but in the meantime you can find me on discord where i will be more than happy to keep writing/plotting stuff with all my mutuals ! – > ✶ 𝐬𝐩𝐨𝐨𝐤𝐲𝐦𝐢𝐬𝐬𝐚 ✶#5943 . i won’t be dropping any threads , they’re just probably gonna take longer than usual . i love you all , please take care of yourselves !

✶ - constablegoo​ // 𝑜𝑑𝑜 !

     had she been anyone else, odo might not have loosened before her eyes so immediately.

he’s well-aware that she may have invented everything she said back in the holding cell. she may even be inventing now. but he thinks not. he has been here a thousand times before, staring someone down as they’re caught in an act, and this time, just as she had before, hope surprises him with the truth upfront. something in his core tells him that there are no alternatives to this truth.

‘ hope, hope, ’  he says, lifting his hands to reassure her.  ‘ i understand. i won’t try to stop you… but i am coming with you. ’

and that was truth, too.

odo moves past her to access the control pad, standing very neatly in the way of her line of sight.  “ did you really think you would be able to slip past me? ”  he goes on, and though he clearly knows how desperate she must be to learn this information, there’s an amused quality to his voice.

the door to the airlock rolls back, and odo gestures – not without a little severity in his look – for her to board the runabout first.

          “ well? ”

      a wave of relief hits faster than she can prepare herself for his - admittedly , pretty reasonable - condition to her request . conflict casting a shadow over her features , she briefly considers asking him to reconsider - but knows it’s no use . if she says it might be dangerous , he will want to accompany her even more . if she insists it’s too personal - well , he would surely have a laugh at that . ( at this point odo might even know more about her than her own best friends . . . ) there’s no winning this fight , & she knows it . . . & secretly , deep down , she might even appreciate his willingness to help . just a little bit . so , she simply crosses her arms & replies with all the petulance she can muster , ❝ . . . of course you are .❞

      it occurs to her that maybe she should have requested his assistance outright - but frankly it hadn’t even crossed her mind . the only person hope is comfortable putting in danger is herself , & now odo has removed her choice in the matter - which leaves a bittersweet taste in her mouth . ❝ -- i don’t know . . .❞ comes her bashful response , feeling rather stupid for even trying . ❝ i’m not sure if i was thinking at all , to be honest .❞

      his prompting isn’t without reason , she clearly hesitates . this meeting could be the start of finally uncovering some real answers about her mother - about where she is & where she came from . . . this is big , intimidatingly so . thankfully , he snaps her from her spiraling thoughts , & she looks to him , briefly - her own gaze filled with a rare solemnity . but it only lasts a moment before she nods , & brushes past him through the airlock . ❝ right . let’s go - before you decide to arrest me after all .❞
