I Need To Stay Inspired ▫️▫️▫️ I think staying inspired is actually pretty simple when you think about it. You can tell yourself to learn how to knit or you can actually do it. I thought that finding inspiration was something that had to come to you like an epiphany but I couldn't be more wrong. I've had this issue this year where, I don't think my ideas are good enough. I was plenty inspired, I was just being held back by my own lack of confidence. I'm in the business of starting over. I am back in a place where the sky's the limit and I've got a wealth of passions and ideas that are rattling around in my brain, trying to get out. I need to make a change. In a good way. I need to organize my time in a way that allows me to express myself in all my creative ways. I've been making videos and I'm comfortable there. What I'm missing is writing. I don't write anymore. I used to write every single day in high school and then one day it just stopped. I found other interests. It's not that I ever lost interest, it's that once I fall in love with a passion, I obsess over it until my creative well is dry. Then I forget about it and tell myself I'll come back later. That doesn't work for me anymore. Once I start a project, I need to keep going with it. First, I'll be writing again. For real. Maybe I'll try a 21 day habit building program, I don't know. But at the end of my life, I don't want to look back at all the years I wasted. Little Free Libraries are so cute. It's such an amazing concept that in this day and age, reading is still important to many people. I always love seeing children's books in these boxes because it's showing the next generation our values. We need more of these! #littlefreelibrary

August Goals: Youtuber Problems

Today is August 20th and I could not be more late to creating this post but here goes...

Being a content creator is really hard as an adult. Let’s face it, there are plenty of pros. Being able to stay up late and blowing your hard-earned money on whatever you want is basically where it ends though. Back when I first started creating Youtube videos at the ripe age of 14, I had ALL the time in the world. And I mean ALL the time. Yeah, I had school, worked a job, and played in Marching Band (Drumline what-up!) but my schedule back then wasn’t nearly as full.

That being said, this summer has been wild. I can’t even recall how many times I’ve “come back” to Youtube this summer alone. It’s pretty pathetic, I know. And yes, there is the argument of “you have to take care of yourself first!”, which I whole-heartedly agree with. But there’s a line. First of all, mental health isn’t the same as laziness and big surprise: I’ve been lazy. Coming up with funny video ideas is always great. But actually taking the time to act them out - I’m lazy.

It’s not that I don’t enjoy creating videos: It’s one of my favorite things. But I also enjoy sleeping,snacking, napping, and resting. According to Grin.co I was in “The Dip” phase of my Youtube career - where everything was decreasing and traffic was slow. That’s the part where most youtubers give up. Yeah, I was dipping. I was slacking (still am) and my laziness is starting to show.

All this ramble leads me to one final decision: Get off your lazy butt and just work hard.

Fine.

Here are my goals:

1) Use Gimp to create ONE thumbnail

2) Upload 4 videos between now and September 1st

3) Creator an editorial calendar for September

Yes, I’ve been a lazy poo bag but it doesn’t mean I don’t have goals and aspirations; sometimes life just “gets in the way” if you let it. And I let it. Family emergencies and health aside, I don’t want anything stopping me from being the wonderful creator that I am. Don’t let me give up, I’m counting on whoever is reading this!

Goals for May: Youtube Internship

Here’s a little peak into my mind.....

1) Stick to my editorial calendar schedule. (I’ve already done one week!)

2) Two live-streams and two videos per week

3) Finish Kingdom Hearts (God, help me)

4) Take time out to write short-stories and blogs once per week. 

5) Get a freaking job

6) 150 subs? :]

Life is crazy right now. My main job will be ending for the summer very soon and I’ve been spending the very little free time that I have to apply for another job and get myself secure with summer employment. 50 applications later = Rejection after rejection after rejection.

It really sucks but I’m still pushing and I’m putting my focus on my other passions: Writing and video editing. I don’t plan to dance in any performances this summer so I’ll have more time for Youtube and Twitch! 

I feel so lame with a sub-count goal. I always feel like people with sub-goals only care about numbers. A lot of times they do but it’s an amazing feeling to have an audience view your creations. I look at how some of my Youtube inspirations practically blew up overnight and it makes me think.... “I wonder if they had sub goals...” 

Youtube keeps being promoted as some kind of get-rich-quick scheme. Are people actually still enjoying Youtube or just trying to make $1? I saw a channel yesterday with 79 subscribers and a Patreon page.He had no patrons but he advertised the page often. That kind of broke my heart a little. Like... getting paid to do what you love is amazing! But should that be your focus so early on? I can’t say I don’t think about ways to make more money (with unemployment catching up to me) but as such a small channel, how does that look to viewers? Does it turn people away? Do they even take small channels seriously? 

I’m just going to keep working on my brand. I do have a donation page or two but I won’t be utilizing them for awhile as I focus on improving my content and keeping a consistent schedule.  Consider this my Youtube Internship :)
