this is a ((very bad)) poem i wrote to help me process some stuff ...

the hollow that lives inside me

is a space carved out when i was small

it has grown to dwarf the child i once was

it keeps growing

someone placed it there the first time a part of me was taken and pieces have been stolen with escalating fervour since

i crave the peace of numbness

the restfulness of watching the vultures pick at my bones for scraps of rotting flesh and no longer feel them gnaw at frays of my spine whilst i am laying motionless

hoping that my organs have turned toxic and will poison them all

the hollow growing

i fear the rage of being a carnal thing wronged who wants to treat the vultures the same and tear at their lungs with bared teeth

but then... i desire it

i am desperate to be whole in whatever way i can

even if i have to rip the shreds of their merciless souls from their twisted bones and refill myself

...still i stay

eyes locked on creatures who sold me beautiful lies and i swallowed them down only for them to be the ones with satisfied longings

i am the only thing the hollow will consume

until there is nothing of me left

and it's maturing

splitting my ribcage open as it enters a new growth spurt and decorating everything i touch with blood and viscera

all it does is grow

with every person that watches me struggle to crawl, dragging my exposed nerves over fire and the broken glass of my hopeful nature, piling boulders onto my back that press me into the shards and give them the chance to tell me i am incapable of standing

there's no room for me here any longer

no unbroken bones or tendons un-split to tether me in

only it can stay

the hollow will always remain.
