Resubbed for 7.3
(Dawntrail 7.3 Spoilers ofc !!!)
okay so this isn’t like a lore thing like the other posts but I’ve been doing college stuff recently but I got time to resub and I’m LOST on what even the ascian at the end wants. Like who is calyx working with??? Zodiark is no more, Hydaelyn is no more, the unsundered are no more and like a point was made literally that the sundered ascians can’t do anything without the unsundered’s help???
Though I’m curious on if it’ll be time is fucked on different shards maybe things formed cause I mean 30 years passed just in the Alexandria bubble but cause the ascians can’t jump between shards I don’t think it should impact them that much?
But I’m still clueless on what their goal would be as they’re just now bastardizing the original rejoining plan if they wanna do the shard stuff or if it’s just gonna be a amon!fandaniel case where it’s a personal goal. Atleast in what we saw I know I’ve seen other people say well what if it’s just a non convocation member but that doesn’t make sense cause whoever it was had the gold decorating their cloak which is only for direct convocation members getting “put back into their place”
Here’s this carrd though for other folk
The link is to a carrd yeah that other people compiled information on each convocation member and what we know and I think it’s a good resource if we’re gonna get introduced to more in the next patches and expansion? Highkey wondering what this winterers group is that Calyx is apart of… but I still don’t even know what the ascians would stand to gain now

Etheirys || 3rd Umbral and Astra Era
Tumblr media
The Third Umbral Calamity or “Calamity of Fire” resulted from the dramatic shift to religious worship in the realm that followed the decline of kingdoms and discovery of magic. These churches became as corrupt and powerful as the kings that preceded them, and their desire for control began an age of holy wars, witch hunts, and genocide! Within the third calamity is also from the second shard rejoining to the source.
Field Note #30 out of Delubrum Reginae seems to imply that XIV's Ivalice predates the Allagan Empire. It stands to reason that our Ivalice was the dominant civilization during the 2nd Astral Era if our Ivalice continues to follow the themes of Tactics/XII's Ivalice where kingdoms warred with each other while the Church manipulated things from the shadows. Which would connect that to the possible kingdom that was prominent during this time frame.
Theologians believe that the gods grew weary of mankind's hubris and decided to humble them. The sun grew large and an intense heat parched the land. Wildfires spread, reducing fields and forests to wastelands, the people stricken with famine. Fossil evidence found in the desert Grand Wake in Thanalan suggests the deserts that now make up southern Eorzea were once a lush grassland lost in the fires of this Calamity.
This however was just the beginning as it switched onto the third astral era from the Umbral era, where the Allagan Empire was established. The Ascian Hades, "Emet-Selch", helps a man named Xande establish the Allagan Empire in Eorzea. Xande conquers much of the known world, save Meracydia, before his death.
Xande’s words about the allagan empire
[“The communities which emerged in the aftermath of the Calamity of Fire, while fearful of the gods, were wary to once again make them the centerpieces of their society. Pursuit of the divine had incurred the wrath of the heavens, so to avoid a similar fate, mankind chose to place distance between itself and the gods. As a result, society began to focus on the individual talents of its people. Faith in the gods gave way to faith in oneself. With this newfound confidence, mankind began producing some of the greatest minds in history. New discoveries in science and technology were being made each day. Civilization was advancing at a rate unseen in the previous two Astral Eras, and at the forefront stood a man who would see that civilization reach to the far corners of Hydaelyn - Xande.”]
Before his death he was considered by many to be a genius in his own right, the highly ambitious Xande used his uncanny intelligence and charisma to build a nation that, while founded in science, did not deny the magic of the Second Astral Era. Those few descendants of the priests and witches of the Second Astral Era were welcomed and given places where they might hone their skills and wield them for the good of the people. As Xande learned more of magic's potential, he assigned many of these "mages" to his newly formed army, where their unmatched strength on the battlefield allowed the young leader to subjugate neighboring lands with limited Allagan casualties. In less than a year, Allag was the largest nation in Eorzea and Xande crowned himself emperor.
And the Syrcus Tower is built as the symbol of prosperity and seat of power for Allag as the largest nation. It draws upon solar energy to power itself. Allagan Empire at this time has also found Omega and used Omega to build further knowledge and start to the production of Magitek, developing space flight as well. Ultima is also created around this time.
The Allagan civilization declines over the centuries, becoming a shell of its former self. A magician and technologist named Amon resurrects the first emperor Xande to revitalize the Allagan Empire. Though Xande restores the empire to its former glory, he retains his ambitions from his first life, and begins to consort with the Ascians and the voidsent of the World of Darkness for more power as his forces invade Meracydia, the dragons' realm. When the dragon Bahamut falls in battle, the Ascians tempt his mate Tiamat with the means of bringing back her beloved as a primal to repel the Allagan invasion. She is heartbroken to find she and her kin only managed to create a vengeful shade in the image of Bahamut.
The warring triad is also brought up around this time.
The Ascians at this time as well show Xande how to bind primals, and this is then used in Azys Lla used as a power source. And Xande uses Omega to beat Bahamut to capture him within Dalamud. Many captive dragons are kept in tormented stasis to keep summoning Bahamut as Dalamud is placed in orbit around the Source to collect solar energy. Tiamat is taken to Azys Lla and placed in stasis.
Around the time Xande makes a deal with the cloud of darkness, Hades recruits Amon into the ascians as he recognizes Hermes’s soul within him.
An uprising against his rule prompts Xande to force additional energy to be extracted from Dalamud to throw open the voidgate and summon the Cloud of Darkness. Syrcus Tower fails to hold the surge and releases the excess into the ground with a massive earthquake. The tower sinks into the earth, with a clone of Amon placing the tower and its occupants into stasis. This marks the start of the Fourth Umbral Era!!!
Allagan blood is also shared within people of Corvos as keys, hence G’raha Tia later able to use the towers because the Allagan Empire flourished within Corvos.

Eras, Astral and Umbral + Calamities
Tumblr media
If it’s not obvious what my first topic of choice is for this blog it’s these! I’ll use this as a way to keep it in check later for organizing!
Explaining though that these are important events to the story, and Etheirys as a whole in the game as each of these occurrences brought about a change in resources or understanding to the characters in the world. Plus the fact that these signaled rejoinings and those living on the source’s souls became bigger and more akin to the era of the ancients.
First Calamity, Umbral, and Astral Era
Second Calamity, Umbral, and Astral Era
Third Calamity, Umbral, and Astral Era
Fourth Calamity, Umbral, and Astral Era
Fifth Calamity, Umbral, and Astral Era
Sixth Calamity, Umbral, and Astral Era
Seventh Calamity, Umbral, and Astral Era
Debating if I wanna add the eighth to this list as it didn’t technically occur in our timeline

Etheirys || 2nd Umbral&Astra era
Tumblr media
Coming up upon another part of our world’s history is information about the second umbral and astra era! This calamity was of lighting aspect so it’s likely tied into the destruction of Alexandria we learn about in dawntrail! So minor spoilers over
Tumblr media
The twelfth was the one lost to urge upon the lightening aspected era but was suspected to be a botched job by an ascian (or another example of a situation wherein they were trying to slowly cater the world to be fully rejoined but for some reason it wasn’t? As the timing between the fifth calamity impacting stuff on the twelfth brings some suspicion besides the fact of Alexandria existing it was a job that wasn’t entirely finished)
As Alexandria still was able to thrive while most of the world was used to rejoin to the source. But the Second Umbral Calamity or “Calamity of Lightning” came on the heels of the First Astral Era, an age where mankind learned to forge stone tools and established settlements and towns, which grew into kingdoms that soon went to war, each seeking to expand their domain. To forge their tools and weapons, mountains were gutted and skies blackened. Nature was also despoiled for countless years until the balance tipped. Volcanoes spewed black smoke that covered the skies and plunged the realm into eternal darkness. Bolts of lightning rained down from the skies for a full year and a day, forcing mankind to seek shelter in underground caverns that became breeding grounds for pestilence. In their desperation, the people prayed for salvation, giving birth to the earliest forms of magical incantations.
The Second Astral Era is however, mimicking our own world, a period of time where there was an insurgence in faiths as it is referred to as well as “Faith in Above”
It becomes the age of prayer for folk as magick starts to bring life to the people. Theocracies also replace the aforementioned kingdoms of the first astral era. Arts are also perfected as well, such as painting and goldsmithing. Also the era where steel is starting to be produced!

more context on good king moogle mog later when I get to him cause his story really ties into the first umbral calamity! But I’m briefly describing each first I’ll make sure to tie it back later!!!
Etheirys || First Umbral&Astra era
Tumblr media
Etheirys is the name that the ancients called the original world prior to the sundering, and one that was adopted by the characters after the events of Endwalker when we got access to Elpis and their knowledge. However viewing it as sort of pre sundering and post sundering will be the best to make it digestible and this’ll focus on post sundering.
Our world was sundered around 12,000 years ago! But following that we had the major events of the calamities that shaped what we have in our current time.
First Umbral Era
Calamity aspected towards Wind and when the fifth shard rejoined with the source. Said to also be the “end of the age of gods” And it came about when the twelve left the land of anger for her people fighting.
[personal speculation interjected— some fight between the three unsundered and the twelve being unable to handle it as Emet Selch in the crossover in the Nier mobile game talks about them as if the souls post sundering didn’t have a full frame of body right away so I’m assuming people were nurtured and in that led to conflict under two different ideologies]
Little is known of this era, with only epics of such figures as Good King Moggle Mog XII and Midgardsormr as he also arrives to the Source at this time, having escaped the destruction of his home planet by Omega with the seven eggs from which the first brood, or great wyrms, and would hatch and establish the dragon race, while their father enters a deep rest at what in the future becomes known as Silvertear Falls.
Considered the beginning of modern history.
First Astral Era
What we’d think of as our Stone Age, as the invention of tools allows civilization to abandon hunter-gatherer lifestyle. Which those towns and villages they are established are soon develop into kingdoms and basic sciences and simple metallurgy are born.
Ends as the development of tools is abandoned in favor of forging weapons, causing the era to descend into bloodstained madness.

Welcome to
“The Eorzean Archives”
Your Lorekeeper for Final Fantasy XIV!!!
Tumblr media
If you’ve ever been halfway through a quest and thought “Wait, who is that again?” Or “what the hell are they talking about?” — this blog is here to help.
I’ve been playing FFXIV for five years and certified lore freak. For fun, I’ve decided to archive, explain, and connect the mountains of story details scattered across the game — from Main Scenario Quest moments to obscure sidequest gems, from dev interviews to short stories on the Lodestone. I personally am starting my freshman year of college so I do not have the lore books, but I’m compiling what I find free and information from all over! I speak Japanese as well so I’m hoping to give further insight!
What you’ll find here:
• Lore summaries — key facts pulled from quests, NPC dialogue, and official sources.
• Timelines — major historical events in chronological order.
• Deep dives — meta essays connecting in-game events across expansions.
• New player guides — simplified lore primers for catching up fast.
• Ask answers — I can take lore questions from followers! If I don’t know it off the top of my head I’ll research it :D
All posts will be tagged for easy searching. For example:
#ffxivarchive[topic]
(ie #ffxivarchivemamoojal or #ffxivarchivezenos or #ffxivarchivesharlayan)
#crackpotarchives (theories)
#archiveanswers
(May sort this under categories)
Speculation will always be clearly labeled and…
Spoilers:
I tag posts with #ffxiv spoilers and #spoilers [expansion name] so you can filter as needed!!
and thank you for listening!! I’ll update this as it goes but I’m one person so if this gains traction give me patience 🙂‍↕️🙂‍↕️!!
