Iris pursed her lips at the question. “Hm...” The swish of the tail below her caused her to slow her braiding as the forming question distracted her. But the man didn’t seem to think it was a big deal, considering it was just hanging out there...unless he was going to change his attitude once she asked about it.
She stopped braiding when he shifted his head slightly. Iris looked up to see him looking back at her--clearly looking down at his tail. And he asked her the question again. Well, there was not much she could do then, could she? “That tail of yours... I’m sorry, I haven’t seen anything quite like it, so I was a bit...distracted.” She smiled warmly, doing her best to show that she didn’t find the tail a bad thing. In fact, it seemed to be as shiny and smooth as his hair.
All natural, boy wouldn’t she be surprised if he told her the reasoning behind it. Giving a small nod, he let her braid his hair, relieved that he didn’t have to crouch down or anything for her to,” It is. Hm? Something wrong?”
He wasn’t aware that she was staring up at his ears that twitched curiously, or the fact that she saw his tail, a slight swish of it showing that it was, in fact, real. He figured it was a normal thing, then again, those outside of Selphia and Norad would probably think otherwise. Her silence didn’t seem to help the already-nervous man and he turned his head slightly, just enough to see her at the corner of his copper eyes,” Something wrong, Iris? You’re awfully quiet back there.”

When Agate jumped, Iris held up her hands in a calming gesture. “Oh my goodness! I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to startle you.” She looked down at the floor behind the desk where she had popped up. “I thought the bird may have been hiding there...”
She nodded slowly as Agate scoped out the room, side stepping to get out of the other girl’s way. “Oh, I figured. It keeps flying away whenever I get close to it and knocking things over--I’m afraid it might’ve already injured itself."
Agate’s bird call causes Iris to jump. After all, it wasn’t often there was that much noise in the house, let alone the shop. “Does that...work in most cases?” She asked, genuinely curious.
Featherful || Agate & Iris
Agate jumped when she saw Iris shoot up from the ground. “Whoa!” She took a moment to compose herself before speaking again, “You caught me at just the right time!”
“Of course I can help!” She immediately began to scope the room, without touching anything, in search of her feathery friend. “The bird is probably just as scared of harming itself as you are harming it, but don’t worry,” the brunette raised her hands to her mouth and began a bird call. “Hopefully, this will catch its attention and bring it out. The little thing is playing hide-and-seek,” she chuckled.

Days Past || Mistel & Iris
Iris held the piece of cloth behind her back and a sly smile spread across her face. She tried to hold it back--probably best that Mistel didn’t notice she was up to something. Which she wasn’t, not exactly. It was for his own good, after all. What, with how much work he was putting into the shop these days. But she stumbled upon something great while researching for her latest novel and she just knew he had to be there with her when she visited to check it out.
“Mistel~” As she walked down the stairs, she angled her body to face towards where he normally would be if he was behind the counter at the shop. Careful to keep her hands out of sight in as casual of a manner as she could manage, she flashed her brother a warm smile. “It’s the end of the week. Can’t you take a break just for today?”
The museum tickets felt like stones in her pockets. She already bought him one--if he didn’t agree to go, it would be a waste. And a missed opportunity to spend time together. Needless to say, Iris was determined.

Iris glanced up immediately upon hearing someone at the door. “Ah! Agate!” She shot up from the ground and dusted off her dress. “Thank goodness. I was hoping you might be nearby.”
She gestured around at the mess. “A bird came in while I was writing with the window open... I’m having a hard time catching it and really don’t want to hurt it.” A pronounced frown spread across her face at the idea. “Do you have the time to help me? I thought you might know how to catch a bird without harming it...”
Featherful || Agate & Iris
None of the local farmers were looking to use the park today, leaving Agate completely free. It was days like this that she’d rather not come across, but the feeling of boredom soon passed as she heard her name as she was walking towards her house. “That sounded like Iris,” she said, making her was to the blonde’s home. “Hello?” She called out, poking her head into the front door.

Featherful || Agate & Iris
At a first glance, it would appear as Iris was pacing. This wasn’t unusual, as she had a tendency to pace whenever she needed to brainstorm and was stuck on a particular plot hole.
Ultimately, at the moment she was not pacing. She was chasing--a small bird that had flown through her window in a very uneven flight pattern. The poor thing seemed disoriented and couldn’t figure out where the window was again. It had knocked over a few things already and Iris was beginning to get nervous it might knock over something breakable. She would hate to have to explain that to Mistel.
“Oh, where did you go...” She fretted to herself, getting down on her knees to check under Mistel’s counter. No luck. Iris sighed and sat upright, running a hand through her golden hair. Hopefully Agate would show up soon--she called for her immediately after realizing she was in over her head capturing this bird.

Iris felt him tense and paused. “Oh. If I’m too rough, please let me know and I’ll try to be a little more gentle.” She continued braiding and laughed softly. “I used to comb my brother’s hair for him and I had to learn how to be careful. Scalps are very sensitive, you see.”
Though she knew he couldn’t see her, she nodded and kept the braid simple. Though he had enough hair for her to make smaller ones and combine them into one large one at the end...she had a feeling that is exactly the kind of thing he wouldn’t appreciate. “Pleasure to meet you, Dylas. I’m assuming this is all natural, considering the...” Her eyes fell on the ears. Very peculiar. Why he had ears like that she couldn’t begin to...
Something came to her mind and she glanced down. If ears, why not... “...” Yes. He did indeed have a tail as well. Her braiding fingers slowed down. Was he...sensitive about it? Was it appropriate to bring up? “Hmm.”
He almost jerked his head back with her standing behind him, a tad bit of a blush growing on his face. Thank goodness Leon or others from town weren’t around to see this. “Um.t..thanks. The names Dylas..” He should of been used to the compliments people had about his hair by now but nope, he still wasn’t, even with some guys in down wishing they had his hair,” Y-Yeah..just something simple..will do..nice to meet you, Iris..”

“...” She examines his expression and can’t help it. Iris smiles. Well, if he’s blushing, that’s a rather good sign. Even if it had to be cut from the novel.
“Sorry for suddenly springing that on you.” Her laugh is quiet. “It’s a bit...much, I know. My editor said so, at least.”
[Bites the bottom of her lip.] Hello, Raeger. I’m sorry ahead of time. This was taken out of my manuscript for obvious reasons, but. It was a dare, you see. Stop listening if you need to. [Clears throat. Begins reading a passage from a love story that at first seems like innuendo..up until it becomes very clearly a passionate love scene between two characters. Glances up cautiously as she reads, but never falters.]
“I– um… that was….” He’s at a loss for words. How was she so placid about saying such embarrassing things out loud?

Iris awaited his response eagerly and beamed when she gained his permission. “Great. I promise I’ll do something simple then...” She stood behind him and brushed her hands gently through his hair, working out the knots. “My name is Iris, by the way. And your hair is very lovely!” She gushed, genuinely impressed. The man’s hair was long, flowing, and...really rather mane-like. She began a french braid at the center of his hair, keeping in mind to make it neat without entering the realm of ‘fancy.’
“Hm?” Dylas turned his head as someone spoke to him, looking down at the woman in question. Braid his hair? He hardly let anyone near his mane, let alone touch it. So, the question did arise at the offer to braid it, the man looking a tad wary of her. “…braid..my hair?” It had been getting longer and it was a hassle to pull up sometimes, so maybe, this once, he’ll let it slide,” …Well um..s..sure, y-you can. Nothing fancy..”

Iris glances over at him as he speaks, considers him, and nods approvingly. Yes, he would do. Specifically, his hair would do. “One of those days, hmm?” She smiles. “You know, I am offering because of a dare... But I do find the feeling of someone else braiding my hair very relaxing. How about it?” Iris asks, twirling a strand of her own hair around her finger. “I’ll braid your hair however you’d like it.”

“…I can already tell its going to be one of those days..”

Iris raised an eyebrow. That wasn’t exactly what she was expecting, but if that’s what hand she was dealt. Speaking of hands...
She reached out for the other woman’s hand and took it to her lips, kissing the surface of her hand lightly. “Pleasure to meet you, Miss.” Iris smiled before the corner of her lips quivered and she burst out into laughter. “Ahaha--I’m so sorry!” She giggled more. “I’ve always wanted to try something like that, but it’s a bit--much!”
What’s my prize?

Selena just blinked at the request “uh…..” she didn’t have much to say about it, least it wasn’t the mouth.

Iris raised an eyebrow when the doctor turned his attention to the page. Sure, she was used to getting questions considering her appearance didn’t exactly give off a businesswoman vibe. But explaining she was an author prompted more questions--which usually she did not mind, but today she was definitely in the mood to write more than talk about writing. So when the doctor returned his attention to her self described illness, she smiled in relief.
“Working vacation. But something I should be alert for nonetheless.” She stood when he motioned for her to follow, holding her place in the notebook by carrying it partially opened. “Thank you,” she said with a nod, taking a seat on the exam table.
The notebook, she laid across her lap. After a moment of sitting still an attentive to the doctor, she leaned down to write something onto the page. Just a quick note in the margins. The smell of dust after rain. The moment she envisioned in her mind had a bit of a spark--something she would want to get back to later. But for now, she needed to get that essence of it down, just enough to jog her memory...
“Ah.” Iris glanced up and met the doctor’s gaze, her eyes flicking between his face and hand. She returned his smile and shook his hand. “Charmed. My name is Iris Dubois. Thank you for seeing me on such a short notice.”
When Inspiration Strikes || Iris & Jin
As per slight curiosity over what it was that had kept her occupied, his eyes lowered for a few seconds and caught a glimpse of the notebook on her lap. He wasn’t sure what it was that was scribbled on the page, but he didn’t want to read anything the woman may not have wanted him to see so his eyes lingered on the page no longer, instead returning her gaze.
“Sick on vacation… that won’t do,” Jin responded to her explanation. “Well, if you’d please come with me to the examination room just on the other side here, I can run a quick check up.” Beckoning her to follow with him, the doctor walked to the examination area. "Take a seat on the exam table,” he told her, pointing at the said table with his hand. As she did that, he sat down on his wheeled stool and grabbed a few items off of his desk. A stethoscope, clipboard, pen… Putting the stethoscope around his neck, he rolled over to the exam table.
“…First of all, before I begin.” He held out his hand and lightly smiled. “I’m Doctor Kwon, but you may call me by my first name, Jin.”

The pen scratching stopped for a moment when the door opened and Iris glanced up to see a man walk in and immediately engage with--someone named Irene who did not seem to be present in the clinic. She smiled affably and waved with her pen, but didn’t bother to respond when the man expressed a need to prepare before speaking with her.
After all, she had something of a spark at the moment. And when that happened, she simply must write it down--no matter how badly it was phrased or rough the prose, as long as some version of it existed on paper, she would be able to edit properly. So she returned back to her writing as the man rushed around the back of the room, only looking up when he addressed her again.
“Don’t feel the need to apologize. I’ve been well occupied,” said Iris as she placed her pen along the center of her notebook. She met the doctor’s gaze and smiled. “Let’s see... I just arrived from another town. I’m supposed to be here for the week but I think I’ve managed to get myself sick on the way here.” Or simply didn’t notice until she needed to stop writing while traveling, but she wasn’t about to mention that to a doctor. “So I thought a check-up would be a smart move. Just in case.”
When Inspiration Strikes || Iris & Jin
With one quick look at his watch to be sure of the time, Jin made his way back towards the clinic. His afternoon break was just about up, so he’d need to return to his work. Within a few minutes, he was right at the front door of the clinic. He pushed the door open and walked inside, expecting to be greeted by his grandmother. “I’m back, Irene. I’ll take over from he—”
…Only to instead be greeted by the sight of a different woman sitting in the waiting area, with his grandmother nowhere in sight. This wasn’t usual of Irene to do, leave before he came back from his walk. Of course, that wasn’t the main thing the doctor was concerned about.
“Oh dear, I hope you weren’t kept waiting here for too long,” Jin told the woman, pushing up his glasses. “If you’d allow me a moment, I’ll be right with you.” Hurrying to the back of the room, he grabbed his lab coat from the coat rack. Putting it on, he walked back to the waiting area and stopped in front of the woman who was still writing, hands behind his back.
“I’m sorry about that. How may I help you?”

When Iris’s feet takes her to the restaurant, she is vaguely surprised. It isn’t exactly the normal time to be having something to eat, but she finds herself wandering at times when she’s brainstorming ideas.
Today has been less than lucrative on that front. Wandering around the Trade Depot usually gave her the ideas that she needed to get through a first draft, but after the usual routine failed her she finds herself in the center of the town. Reager’s restaurant was always a good place to eavesdrop for interesting conversation snippets... Why not stop by for a drink?
She quietly opens the door and peers inside. Always a good place to eavesdrop...when there were people there. “Ah, hello Reager!” She says as she steps inside, letting the door shut behind her. “Mmm...” Iris runs a finger down her chin as she examines the chef, a thought dancing in her head. “Actually Reager, do you mind if I pick your brain for a bit? So to speak.” She smiles. “I’ll buy some tea for us.”
client chronicles | iris&reager
The restaurant is empty.
While he drums his fingers against the marble counter, Reager lets the seconds pass by watching the clock’s hands pass another tick on it. Nothing in this room is not interesting, and his mind was heavy with thoughts of things that are also not that interesting. In other words, though, you could say he’s bored.
It is true that his restaurant is often filled with young women giggling about gossip, or the chef himself. Their presence was refreshing, though. While he cut out another slice of some freshly baked cherry pie, their voices in the distance was… fitting, like it was a part of the restaurant itself. It seems so bizarre now, thinking about it, and it’s rather hard to believe that this is the same building then it was while it was filled with customers. Now it’s just another house, and Reager is just watching the clock’s hand go on.
The young man looks at the door as soon as it opens. His expression turns cheerful when he sees it’s Iris. She is often an interesting person to be around, as a customer and as a friend.
“Iris! Hello, what can I get you today?”
