so i *finally* got the golden shovel in animal crossing new leaf and can plant money trees! but, after spending a little bit researching how they work in this game, i think i found something that hasn't been discussed much.

so, the general knowledge online seems to be that if you plant 1,000 bells, you have a 1% chance of getting a money tree, and it goes up 1% for each 1,000 more bells you plant in that spot. so e.g. planting 30,000 bells has a 30% chance of growing.

each money tree has 90,000 bells on it regardless of how much you planted. so, it's generally recommended to *not* plant money trees, as they will cause you to lose money in the long term given these odds.

however! nookipedia *also* notes that the money tree growth rate is influences by your feng shui score. you get a +.02% increase in growth rate for each point of feng shui. assuming nookipedia is correct, (which it isn't always, ime!) that means you only need 165 feng shui points to reach a break even point, and you get 300 points per correctly-placed furniture item.

so, it should be pretty easy to make a consistent profit using feng shui...... right??

anytime i look at a tweet on X, the everything app, it's like "this is engagement bait" and then all the replies are also engagement bait. it's like everyone on there is either cybersmith or that account with the dog avatar that replies to cybersmith, in an endless dialectic of pretending-to-be-stupid and mocking-stupidity. the cable news outrage cycle with a personal algorithm. hideo kojima is the last person tweeting real genuine unironic thoughts and opinions. everyone else is trying to monetize a bit. what if 4chan paid you for posting? what if posting an image of in the aeroplane over the sea on /mu/ got you 0.03 cents per view? what if everyone in silicon valley was networking on /g/? to get the old web back, we must first abolish money, we must make content for the love of the game purely and alone. content made for the love of the game is content made of love; marianne williamson was right(!?), though a course in miracles is wrong. was crowley right to say that love is the law? i don't want to admit it, but he seems right. i don't like him, but then again i don't like much else that is happening, and to call crowley a prophet of the 20th century would certainly anticipate him being unlikable (to me). "write your own necronomicon" is perhaps his biggest banger. i thought i had given up magic but i find i keep thinking of it--the scene of my own mind feels ripe with fruit and powerful. i feel like i've learned just enough and now i am purely interested in action. i think too much just enough. i don't feel like i want to be passive all the time any more. though i think there is great power in passivity by determining the right time to act. does anyone care if i post like this? i love each and every one of you, i truly do.
