Something I realized upon reatching "Big Trouble In Little Sanchez", is that Beth seems genuinely scared and freaked out upon finding the alien in the basement.

She has no idea what this thing is, that it could do, or even why it's there.

And when she's arguing with Jerry later, she also seems scared and worried, but for a different reason.

The anxiety switches from her fear of the alien to the fear that her dad might be doing something bad.

Even though she's angry and arguing with Jerry, there's almost a desperation to her when they fight. She wants this thing to be evil, or to be getting treatment. She wants there to be a valid reason why this thing is in the basement. She wants her father to be a good man.

She just desperately wants to see her father as a good man.
