Baby on Japan store sign turns into horror poster child as ink melts in intense summer heat in recent years
A sign outside a store in Shiga prefecture, Japan, which featured a photo of a baby, has turned into something out of a horror movie as the ink melted due to intense heat in recent years.
Thereus (promotional photos that project an image (photo of a baby)) trine Pluto(transmutation (weather conditions over the years have caused the sign to deteriorate)) opposite Neptune (movies, film (turned into something out of a horror movie)) .
Many people have since stopped outside the store, Hangai Nagahama, to take pictures of the ghastly sign, the store owner told Japanese media FNN in 2023.
However, weather conditions over the years have caused the sign to deteriorate.
The black ink used for the baby's eyes and mouth melted and spread across the sign, smudging the baby's features into something more sinister.
"Summer horror experience": owner
The store was founded in 1933 and sells a range of miscellaneous goods. "We have lots of good, cheap things," the baby sign reads.
The owner, Masanao Itaya, said the summer heat likely melted the sign, which has been up at the storefront for almost a decade.
He told FNN in 2023 that he failed to notice the deteriorated state of his "favourite sign" until then, adding that he had never seen the sign melt so fast.
"I noticed it at the beginning of August and thought some people might find it creepy, so I thought about changing it," he told Japanese media.
However, he did not change the sign immediately as Japan's Obon holidays, observed from Aug. 13 to 16, was around the corner.
"I thought I'd leave it as it is for a while, so that people can enjoy it as a summer horror experience," he added.

Russian biotechnologists have proposed to create a network of eco-settlements
Russian biotechnologists propose to implement a project in the country to create a network of thousands of modern bio-settlements in uninhabited territories, deputy head of the Kurchatov complex of NBICS-nature-like technologies for scientific work of the Kurchatov Institute Research Center, President of the Society of Biotechnologists of Russia Raif Vasilov said on Tuesday.
Sun (Russian biotechnologists) trine & Pallas (biotechnology) opposite Sedna (clarity of perception, responsible, far thinking). Ceres (issues of taking care of people, fertility, procreation, reproduction) square Makemake (conscious of family security and safety, protection of the brood, selecting a safe location for nesting). Mars (independent, venturesome) square Leleakuhonua (ability to combine old and new, integration of past, present and future, blend of traditional and progressive, far-sighted, appreciation of innovation, possibility oriented).
In his speech at the OpenBio Russian Biotechnology Forum in the Novosibirsk science city of Koltsovo, Vasilov noted that the main challenge for Russia in the 21st century is to ensure the uniform sustainable development of a huge, virtually uninhabited two–thirds of the territory, in the current conditions of population decline and underdeveloped infrastructure. According to him, this can be done with the help of biotechnology and bioeconomics.
"There is a very interesting project that many are currently working on, which they are talking about – the creation of high-tech small settlements that use the most modern achievements of technology, science, and so on, in order to ensure a high quality of life for people in remote areas. We are talking about the construction of space stations on various other planets for their habitation. Why not start with your territory as such," the scientist said. Vasilov noted that the problem of depopulation of the territory is not only a problem of the Trans-Urals, but fewer people now live on the Central Russian plain in Central Russia than before 1913. People leave rural and remote areas due to underdeveloped infrastructure and low standard of living, and young people tend to cities where there is an opportunity to develop. "The creation of such high-tech bio-settlements, based on modern biotechnologies and bioeconomics, solves the problems of embedding humans into the biosphere ... It is clear how this can be organized. The urban planning idea of how to develop it is bioeconomics, the use of local resources to provide people with everything they need. Off-road or off-road transport. This should not be a separate settlement. It should be a whole network that will cover the whole country," he said. According to the presentation of the scientist, the bio-settlement will be a small-scale settlement (400-1000 people), largely providing itself with food, electricity and heat energy and disposing of its waste using nature-like technologies. The main requirements are practicality, repeatability, and scalability. All this should ensure the formation of a balanced sociobiotechnosphere (noospheric development). Settlements are supposed to be located on allocated areas from 1 to 10 thousand square kilometers. In total, it is advisable to create a network of 1,000 such settlements in the territories of Russia that require development. "In fact, it is possible to provide a modern standard of living, quality of life there and combine the advantage of the city in terms of quality of life with the advantages of the village in terms of proximity to nature and integration into nature. That is, to make something modern that meets the opportunities provided by modern science and technology… This is not an alternative to urban development. This is their complement, their development. What is called the development of the country's territory," he added.

Russia builds residential village for Gaza refugees
Over 200 Palestinians displaced from Gaza have been given apartments in a newly built neighborhood of Grozny, the capital of Russia’s Muslim-majority Chechen Republic, regional leader Ramzan Kadyrov has announced.
Saturn (building qualities, compassion) conjunct & Venus (considerate, appreciative (refugees thanked the Chechen leader for the work that's been done)) trine Nessus (generous, benevolent, compassionate, willing to lend a helping hand (built as a welcome gift for just over 200 Palestinian refugees)).
A foundation run by Kadyrov’s mother Aymani commissioned the construction of the five apartment buildings, to permanently house refugees welcomed to the Russian region last November.
“Congratulations to the Palestinian brothers and sisters on finding new comfortable housing! I wish them never to see war again, to live in plenty and prosper!” Kadyrov said in a statement on Friday.
The refugees, who were initially housed in at the Gorny Klyuch children’s resort southeast of Grozny will now move into a ‘cottage community’ in the Visaitovsky District of the Chechen capital, where 209 people will live in 40 new apartments, Kadyrov said.
According to the Chechen head, construction of the complex took about six months. During this time, 55 of the Palestinians found jobs, while their children and teenagers were placed in schools and universities. All of them have been studying Russian.
“Our immediate plans include the creation of a Palestinian community in the Chechen Republic so that refugees can preserve their national identity,” Kadyrov added.
The buildings were opened in a ceremony marking the 20th anniversary of the Akhmat Kadyrov Foundation, named after Ramzan’s father, who played a key role in ending the decade-long separatist insurgency and reintegrating Chechnya into Russia.
“The Chechen people, like no other, know all the hardships of war. We have all gone through terrible trials, we have seen hunger, cold, and the death of loved ones. Therefore, the grief that befell the Palestinians is very close to us,” Kadyrov said in the announcement.
The vast majority of Chechens are Muslim. Kadyrov has repeatedly voiced his support for the Palestinians in the ongoing Gaza conflict.
Over a million Palestinians have been displaced from their homes in Gaza since last October. Following a series of deadly raids by Hamas, in which some 1,200 Israelis died and 250 were taken captive, Israel declared war on the Palestinian militant group. Almost 38,000 Palestinians have died in the subsequent bombing and ground invasion of the enclave, according to the Hamas-run health authorities.

Julian Assange leaves UK after striking deal with US justice department
Julian Assange has been released from British prison, according to WikiLeaks, the organisation he founded, which posted on social media a video of him boarding a flight that departed the UK at London’s Stansted airport on Monday evening.
Uranus (sudden action, change, liberation) trine *Arawn (summons to *fateful meeting (the WikiLeaks founder will plead guilty to violating US espionage law at a hearing in Saipan)). Arawn (29 cp 14'10" Rx) quintile Mean Node (11 ar 35'11" Rx).
The announcement that Assange was free came shortly after news broke that he was set to plead guilty this week to violating US espionage law, in a deal that would allow him to return home to his native Australia.
US prosecutors said in court papers that Assange, 52, has agreed to plead guilty to a single criminal count of conspiring to obtain and disclose classified US national defence documents, according to filings in the US district court for the Northern Mariana Islands.

Assange is due to be sentenced at a hearing on the island of Saipan in the Northern Mariana Islands at 9am local time on Wednesday (11pm GMT on Tuesday). Under the deal, which must be approved by a judge, he is likely to be credited for the five years he has already served and face no new jail time.
In a letter to a federal judge in the district court for the Northern Mariana Islands, a senior justice department official said that he was being sent to Saipan because of its “proximity to the defendant’s country of citizenship”. The official added that once the sentencing hearing was completed, Assange was expected to travel on to Australia.
WikiLeaks said on X that Assange had left Belmarsh prison on Monday morning, after 1,901 days of captivity there. He had spent the time, the organisation said, “in a 2x3 metre cell, isolated 23 hours a day”.
Assange was set to be reunited with his wife, Stella, who confirmed on X that “Julian is free!”. She thanked Assange’s supporters, saying “Words cannot express our immense gratitude to YOU- yes YOU, who have all mobilised for years and years to make this come true”.
In the WikiLeaks video, Assange, looking healthy dressed in a shirt and jeans with his white hair cut short, is seen climbing the stairs into a plane.
WikiLeaks in 2010 released hundreds of thousands of classified US military documents on Washington’s wars in Afghanistan and Iraq – the largest security breaches of their kind in US military history – along with swaths of diplomatic cables.

An Australian government spokesperson did not confirm or deny the plea deal but said Canberra was “aware” of the legal proceedings, adding: “prime minister [Anthony] Albanese has been clear – Mr Assange’s case has dragged on for too long and there is nothing to be gained by his continued incarceration.”
Assange’s mother Christine welcomed the developments, saying “I am grateful my son’s ordeal is finally coming to an end.”
The plea agreement comes months after the US president, Joe Biden, said he was considering a request from Australia to drop the US push to prosecute Assange.
Assange was indicted during the former president Donald Trump’s administration over WikiLeaks’ mass release of secret US documents, which were leaked by Chelsea Manning, a former US military intelligence analyst who was also prosecuted under the Espionage Act.
Many press freedom advocates have argued that criminally charging Assange represents a threat to free speech.
In a court document filed with the US district court for the Northern Mariana Islands ahead of Wednesday’s sentencing, the US government laid out the details of the charge of conspiracy to obtain and disclose national defense information that lies at the heart of the plea deal. It accuses Assange of “knowingly and unlawfully” conspiring with the US army intelligence analyst Chelsea Manning to “receive and obtain documents, writings, and notes connected with the national defense … up to the SECRET level”.
As news of the plea deal spread on Monday night, there were widespread expressions of relief that Assange’s years-long captivity appeared to be coming to an end. But there were also concerns that a conviction, even on a single count, could have a devastating and prolonged impact on investigative and national security journalism.
Jameel Jaffer, executive director of the Knight First Amendment Institute at Columbia University which defends press freedom, said that the plea deal averted the worst-case scenario of a full-on prosecution. “But this deal contemplates that Assange will have served five years in prison for activities that journalists engage in every day.”
Jaffer warned that the outcome could “cast a long shadow over the most important kinds of journalism, not just in this country but around the world”.
Meanwhile Mike Pence, the former US vice-president, criticised the deal, saying it was a “miscarriage of justice”.
Writing on X he said: “There should be no plea deals to avoid prison for anyone that endangers the security of our military or the national security of the United States. Ever.”
Assange was first arrested in Britain in 2010 on a European arrest warrant after Swedish authorities said they wanted to question him over sex-crime allegations that were later dropped.
He fled to Ecuador’s embassy, where he remained for seven years, to avoid extradition to Sweden.
He was dragged out of the embassy in 2019 and jailed for skipping bail. He has been in London’s Belmarsh top security jail ever since, from where he has been fighting extradition to the US.
While in Belmarsh, Assange married his partner Stella with whom he had two children while he was in the Ecuadorian embassy.
Manning was sentenced to 35 years in prison after being convicted of violating the Espionage Act and other offences for leaking classified government and military documents to WikiLeaks.
President Barack Obama commuted her sentence in 2017, allowing her release after about seven years behind bars.
