absolutely LOVE the wc better bones au and since the creator @bonefall has said that he encourages redesigns/reimagining of characters i thought i'd toss in my take on tawnypelt!!! inspired by the official design!!!!!

tawny's my favorite wc character so seeing an au that actually lets her have her deserved character growth has been SO awesome. we love to see a girlboss winning!!!!!!

have another moment for the ledgers, catalogs, and records that were burned and the homes that were destroyed to hide the presence of very much alive and still enslaved people on dozens of plantations and homesteads across the south for decades after emancipation.

and have a third moment for those who were hunted and killed while fleeing the south to find safety across the border, overseas, in the north and to the west.

black people. light a candle, write a note to those who have passed telling them what you have achieved in spite of the racist and intolerant conditions of this world, feel the warmth of the flame under your hand, say a prayer of rememberance if you are religious, place the note under the candle, and then blow it out.

if you have children, sit them down and tell them anything you know about the life of oldest black person you've ever met. it doesn't have to be your own family. tell them what you know about what life was like for us in the days, years, decades after emancipation. if you don't know much, look it up and learn about it together.

going back to school after genloss is actually mental

do i have to be the main character of my own life. can't i just be the weird little side character mostly used for comic relief who has a very small but dedicated section of the fandom that just fills in all the gaps in the lore for them and expands on the hints at their insecurities so well that if you only had experience with the fandom and not the show you'd think this character was a dedicated part of the main cast despite them literally only having a notable role in like 1-3 episodes per season

ever since the genloss finale came out i feel like i've ascended. it's SUCH An impressive creative feat and it's so full of intricate detail and it's so well thought out and aahfhghgh. I WANNA DO SOMETHING LIKE THAT!!!

like idk as an artist it's just sooo fucking cool how genloss is just a thing that Exists i'm so endlessly fascinated by it and it's one of the most inspiring things i've seen. And the fact that social experiments is only the beginning??? And it's not even the creator's main/favorite story for genloss??? this ACTUAL MASTERPIECE is just the goddamn beginning and that floors me

ranboo is clearly so endlessly dedicated to this project and you can just tell they're pouring their entire damn heart into it. their creative vision is something special, and i just can't help but respect the everliving hell out of all the work they're putting into it. props to them for creating something THIS spectacular right out of the gate, i cannot wait to see what they'll do next!!!

what the actual fuck is wrong with you

Robin is extremely good at hiding when something's bothering him.

He's got a reputation to uphold, and he doesn't plan on letting the bullies at school know when anything gets to him, because that's a weakness, and they can exploit it if they figure it out. So he's basically become a master at keeping his emotions completely and entirely to himself.

But it's not just to stay ahead of bullies. He's found overtime that he hates it when people pity him, or worry about him, or anything of the sort. He never wants anyone to see him when he's not at his best, because he just couldn't stand it if anyone found him vulnerable and then saw him differently after.

So as far as everyone else is concerned, Robin is never weak. Robin is never scared. He never loses his composure, he never cries, and he's never taken a fall that he hasn't been able to bounce back from.

...Not in front of them, anyway.

Sometimes, after only the most exhausting days, when there's absolutely no chance anyone could hear him, he goes straight to his room, locks the door, hides under the blankets, and then lets himself break, to deal with his suffering head-on where it could never effect anyone else. Then, he picks up the pieces and wipes his tears, and he's back to his old self just in time for his mom to get back home.

He does this once more in a dark and dreary soundproofed basement, the old mattress making for a poor excuse of a replacement of his own bed. He stares at the wall, arms wrapped around himself to make up for the lack of blankets to protect him from the basement's bitter cold.

There, he breaks once again. Whereas on any other day, he'd be grateful for the solitude, now he wants nothing more than for everyone he loves to finally see him, to rescue him. To be held in his mom's arms for one last time. He could give a shit less about being pitied or seen differently, as long as it meant he wouldn't be alone.

Deep down, he swears that once he gets out of there, he'll never let himself be alone like this again. He'd rather spend every minute of every day with someone hovering around him than to feel this lonely for even a second longer. Once he escapes, he'll be more open, be more honest, let himself be vulnerable so that he can finally let himself be loved.

But even deeper down, as desperately as he tries to deny it to himself... he knows he'll never get the chance to.
