Casting Development 

I like the numbers as they were but I thought it would be good to paint them bronze or gold. I’ve not had time yet but I’d like to re do the stop motion again with them re painted

Print Development 

I made around 15 copies of the block print on a combination of gold and silver tissue paper. I’ve tried to use it as wallpaper but it’s been relatively successful but It was difficult to get the paper to stay up and not have bump. I may have to use a slightly heavier paper not too heavy just a little heavier than tissue. It may have to be something I make myself

Number Print 

The number lino print developed from the stop motiontion. I think it has work pretty well I would really like to try it on black paper with more of colours used in the rest of my work golds and possibly silver

Casting and Vacuum Forming 

I really want to again to try create and show the movement of the numbers. I cast the watch I wear with Jacobs numbers in plaster and made multiple copies in the vacuum forming machines. The VF machine isn’t something I would have used before but I love the fact I can make multiple copies that are exactly the same super fast 

For the watch face numbers I tried painting them on but they looked really wrong, stencil with marker pen seemed be the most successful. Most of the watch faces are in silver the rest I’ve painted in mustard with gold leaf on top I think the combo together works well.

Casting Development 

The casted numbers I draw from the video’s to trying and get the movement of the numbers. I really like the way the Lino has turned out, the fact that you can just see a few sections of whole number but the impression of the chaos of the numbers

I’m not able to add sound in yet but wondering if and how I could make that work. If there’s a way to create the chaos with noise I’m just not sure

The chaos and the movement numbers I think stop motion is probably a really easy to way to express the movement and constant movement numbers the fact that they never stop moving and never stop changing there’s no chance of them standing still 

Colour wise the white doesn’t work I think doing them in two colours possible the gold and bronze - I want the colours to really express the preciousness of the lower numbers

Development ideas from cast numbers

I want to create more movement with the numbers, maybe some line drawings of the numbers in the wee film. Somehow is there a way to develop the cast of numbers back to 2D piece I think that could be really interesting

Cast numbers

trying different materials has been such an interesting development tool for me. I normally work in sketchbook produce drawings and move on to fabric, branching out into casting has produced some interesting results.

I’m planning on creating a stop motion video with the letters, then possible some drawings from the videos. Trying to capture the chaos of the numbers the constant changes, the fact they don’t stop moving

Print Development 

I keeping thinking about taking the block print into different materials since I didn’t have time to do glass before finishing this unit. I thought I’d paint it across on acrylic. It might be interesting to use the projector to see how it would be on top of the same block print

Giving the jelly babies hypo values showing how much of the was used for treatment of the numbers

Vacuum forming 

I really wanted to try making the jelly babies in different materials I thought it would be interesting but this just didn’t work the way I hoped the jelly babies bubbled and don’t really look the way I hoped. After speaking to one of the model making students I would have to use a thinner acrylic I used a 1.5mm as that was thinnest stockline had available, it was suggested that 0.5mm would give me the clearness I needed

I really think it might have been worth adding in other hypo treatments I’m not really sure how I’d go about casting them. Possible do Coke can or capri sun

I like the gold and copper but I still didn’t feel like it highlighted what I was trying to getting across with idea of preciousness. I’ve tried adding gold leaf to the jelly babies to get across the feeling I’m not sure it’s totally working the way I want

Casting

I thought it maybe interesting to some show the end result of the numbers the treatment used so I cast large sized jelly babies.

For painting the jelly babies I really wanted to across the importance of them the idea of what is precious to me. The fact that jelly babies are more important than gold or sliver etc

I’d like to try and make a time based piece with them I’m not completely sure how I’d do this but I’m interested to try. I like the idea of creating movement with and also some how adding in the hypo values
