However canon you want to consider those, there is official precedent for the after people she knows/team members option.

Okay so I'm trying to think of what Parker (of Leverage and Leverage: Redemption fame) would name a pet after if she were to ever get one. I came up with some options but I'm not sure which is most in character (and/or funniest) so I figured I'd ask the internet for help.

If it matters, the story I'm writing has her adopting pet rats (cuz cute and like vents & climbing)

Buffy really did the FUNNIEST thing possible with Spike. usually when a villan becomes part of the found family it's because 1. they're already on a redemption rc or 2. there is an even bigger evil and they need to join forces.

with spike they just put a muzzle on him like he is a rabid dog they don't want to put down, dressed him with some Hawaiian shirts and started feeding him blood out of a straw.
