Writing Update (June 7th, 2025)

Hello friends! Gonna keep things brief and simple--

1.) Chapter 2 is w/ Alpha Readers rn! Yay! Next Update will be tail end of June, along with the Chapter 1 Patch (unfinished scenes will be done, and the subspecies selection will be added). Chapter 2 is now 134k words, vs. the original version which was 83k words! Lots of fun variation... or not so fun variation🧍🏻

2.) Chapter 3 has also been in the works. It's going to be a lot bigger now since there's more variation in how Amilia + Vethna get along. Now that I'm able to focus on writing again, bi-weekly updates will return following the release of Chapter 2 :)

2.) Re. The COG Demo--There have been a lot of issues w/ infinite loading scenes. I really do not know how to fix this but I'll keep fiddling with it. Some people are getting stuck between Chapter 1 + Chapter 2, others between 2 +3, and then I surprisingly got a report that got stuck between Chapter 3 + 4. So some people are able to play the first few chapters fine, and others can't get past Chapter 1. I, myself, was able to get to Chapter 2 on my own computer, until last week where it randomly decided to get stuck on Chapter 1. Because where people get stuck is so different across the board, I'm not sure if it's something I can fix, but I'll keep trying 😭 (all the scene files are correct, so idk if it's just a problem with using *finish as opposed to *goto_scene)

3.) That is all! :) Thank you for sticking around despite... very long... hiatuses 🧎🏻Chapter 3 will be the last Chapter to be rewritten heavily. Chapter 4 + 5 are just being ported with minor tweaks where necessary!

Cog.ink Demo

Hello everyone-- Just letting you all know the old COG Demo is back up now! I was beefing with what I can only assume was some cache/file updating problem for a while but now it should work.

Yes! There's two major romances for him. One is the hooking up while being enemies still, and the other is developing a friendship that develops into more.

You're not forced to have a shallow intimacy w/ him--there's a slower paced romance route. Just, those sort of flirt options won't show until you're, understandably, friends with him.

hi there. so months ago i first played this game and it ended after the confrontation with the twins. now i randomly noticed, that it was updated 12 days ago on itch, which led me to replay it in hopes there would be more chapters/story. it sill ended at the same point. looking here on tumblr it seems that you are currently working on ch 6, which means atleast 5 chapters should be playable? this leads to my question: is/will there be a public release on itch? or will it be patreon only?

For anyone who who has come here from Itch.io, the game is being ported and rewritten from Choicescript--the original demo was 5 chapters long and is currently inaccessible. As of now, I'm working on finishing Chapter 2 for the Twine demo, and simultaneously working on Chapter 6 (though that's more on the backburner as of now).

Only Chapter 1 is playable rn. Chapter 2 will be playable soon... and I intend to upload the OG Choicescript Demo onto cogdemos.ink again when I release Twine Chapter 2 (which has the original 1-5 chapters).

The rewritten twine demo will be free and still have chapters 1-5! Hopefully this clears things up? Let me know if there are any more questions! :)

Honestly tho, a "hating" Sabir route is pretty much either A.) "Genuinely being upset he accidentally sold you out"/"being resentful he couldn't save you." OR a much more lighthearted B.) "You just think he's really pompous and annoying and are constantly exasperated by his presence."

Dashingdon finally went down here in the UK today (05/02) so I can't directly pull the scene in the latter half of Chapter Five, but Freedom reveals all they and Marcelle did was talk.

That alone tells me Marcelle made a deal. I'm surprised no one has mentioned it so far, and I don't think anyone on the Discord has either, but maybe I'm just not looking hard enough there.

I'm fully expecting it to include MC's survival, because that just sounds like the type of thing Marcelle would do, even though she fully knows for some of us her survival hinges on our MC's death.
