REALLY loving this PK and friends artwork ❤️
Having him elbow deep in the dirt would fix me. And him.
My piece for @batchedzine. I really just wanted to see Wolffe get to grow something with his own two hands after the war surrounded by his loved ones. I think it would be very good and therapeutic for him.
Leftover sales are ongoing for the month of June if you've missed the main sale or just want to grab something extra :3 Thank you for the mods for their amazing work on this zine, and all fellow creators who brought all these happy scenarios and AUs to life <3

KELDEORIN'YAA WORD OF THE DAY!
NYAITAN (N) - Domesticated or tame animal, animal species commonly kept as pets (not farm animals).
There are not a lot of animals native to Dor'in that Kel' Dor keep as pets. Bil'oni ponies are the largest (and sadly, always in danger from the Carrion Bats - huge flying predators that regularly take live prey too), various smaller birdlike species, several small lizard species, and a small Armadillo-like quadruped that kids love to roll like a ball along their hall floors (interestingly the little Armadillos love it 😶). Fish tanks too... The most common house pet though is the salty sweet YANNWA ("Water Wing").
Water Wings in the wild are flightless Estuarial swimming birds that hunt via sonar, as they are low vision predators. These ones kept as pets have been specifically bred as companions, but don't let that fool you into thinking they are marshmallows with talons. Salty sweet, right? Water wings are territorial by nature and when one is acquired, they are acquired as an egg which hatches IN THE HOUSE, thereby ensuring whoever is present for the hatching of this little terror is imprinted upon by the hatchling. What if everyone is at work or at school -? Good question. Fortunately, a strange quirk of Yannwa is to only hatch after the sun has set (this has something to do with the lunar cycles of the planet) so this is what NORMALLY happens. Of course you always have the 'odd' event where some weirdo egg hatches at 2 A.M. equivalent (Dor'shan time) and imprints on the darn Armadillo but these are the exception and not the rule (Mother Dor'in doesn't do that to nice families very often). You really, REALLY need them to imprint on the family. Those beaks are capable of a 410 PSI bite that can take a hand off at the wrist, and then they aim unerringly for the hamstrings and Achilles tendon when chasing after perceived threats.
One of the best things about Yannwi as (guard creatures for a family) is that, once they have imprinted, whatever offspring or young are present in the dwelling will be recognized as young, identified by scent as THEIR OWN and will henceforth never be in danger of harm from them - no matter how much mauling they endure. Kel' Dor mums and dads are naturally extremely appreciative of this and little ones are taught very early on to respect the space of these loyal companions and never press them. Sights like this (above) are common, Yann'wa love a good snuggle.
On an unrelated note, you will notice the little one's eyes are blue... Kel' Dor young have blue eyes for the first twelve or so months of life, after which they darken to deep brown or green, and then darken further in adolescence down the road.
The Yannwa above is named RANTEVAAN, which means SAILOR. Other common names are KSANGERAK (STUBBORN), NYEKO (FIERCE, AGGRESSIVE) and šIBA (TALONS, CLAWS).

KELDEORIN'YAA WORD OF THE DAY
What kind of a PET would Kel' Dor have on Dor'in?
Many thanks to @plokoonsdisapprovingeyebrows for the name ideas!
YAN'NWA - Water Wing
TSOKI TSOKI - Onomatopoeia for the sound their claws might make on hard floors.
Originally, I experimented with making these guys eyeless and endowed with KOLMI too, but making that work was taking far too long. THEN, my idea was to have both Kolmi concealed under their mop of hair (or merged into a single one) that popped up/out when they were startled THEN I thought, what if their eyes were not eyes at all? - THOSE could be the Kolmi. They could double as sonar receptors (when the pupils dilate they’re doing so to receive ping backs more clearly). I still don’t know… I will post updates as I create them (for all I know, they might end up breathing through their eyes like the Cephalapods in "Men in Black.")
I’m thinking they will not be blind but nearsighted, and use a form of sonar to help them 'see.' Their typical call is bursts of chirpy clicks, although they coo and screech and hiss too. I'm toying with the idea of them being able to mimic speech like a parrot. I crack up whenever I mentally picture them like these guys... Especially the "DOOPA DOOPA DOO" parrot in the video.
I feel like the Kel' Dor species as a whole has an awesome sense of humor. Silly stuff is one of the things that really tickles them - so they would really appreciate the levity one of these pets would bring to a long, busy day.
Yannwa are extremely territorial with their people and young, and tend to adopt the young of their family as their own.
Speaking of, this Mum is in the latter stages of pregnancy, has begun to check the door locks compulsively, has security cameras up all over the house and has armed The Bird. Baby is in good spirits with her Tsoki friend in the room (the bird) - in fact I sorely pity the fool who tries to mess with her.

KELDEORIN'YAA WORD OF THE DAY
UGH. This was the Winter and Spring that I had. Literally a world of yuck.
EGIRAO (ADJ) - DISGUSTING, FOUL
Typically adjectives in Keldeorin'yaa can and do double as nouns as needed. Whether they function as one or the other is understood contextually from their use on a sentence. This one in particular would probably NOT be used as a noun unless the speaker was fluent in Basic and wanted to speak colloquially and playfully (...like I did here. Insofar as one can be playful when discussing feeling like VEK). It could potentially be done, though.
Are you sick too?? That sucks. I'm really sorry, if so.
IYAHMEN (N) - Infection, general sickness of the body
... is the word for what is happening to you currently. Conversely -
KATIGATI (N) - State of good health, a good life
... most assuredly is NOT.
KSLAIYAN (N) - Ordeal
... might nicely sum up your feelings about what is happening to you.
There are many other words in Keldeorin"yaa that can also sum up how you're feeling. The aforementioned EGIRAO is one, as well as -
AYAYNE (ADJ) - Very hot
KIYASI (ADJ) - Freezing cold
The following 'viral' verbs/nouns might be playing a pretty big role in your misery -
HAGADI (V) - To cough, to wheeze
IKANYAHMEN (N) - Nausea, stomach upset
KSABEHAGI (V) - To throw up, to vomit
NERRAO (V) - To roll along the ground
... (when WALKING to the bathroom is no longer an option)
MATARIYI (V) - To pray
If you're sick right now, The Exosorceror is sending you great big healthy hugs and wishing you a speedy recovery. May the BLAHS leave your life real soon.
P.S - The last picture is CHICKENPOX - dubbed CRECHEPOX (TAKSIMUKHI) by Kel' Dor for how fast it spreads through the younglings in a homestead. Most adults are immune because they had it as a kid (like, darn near every last one of them). It hits them exactly the same way it hits us and makes them just as miserable. The little one will be OK though, no worries. Their snake will keep them comfy and so will Momma.

Prompt voting and date announcement
Date:
People of Tumblr had decided and thus the Plo Koon week will take place in July. I was thinking that perhaps it could take place between 14 (monday) and 20 (sunday) July, in the middle of the month?
I can consider other dates too, but if there won't be any objections, then Plo Koon week will start on 14th and end on 20th July.
Prompt voting:
Everyone submitted plenty of great prompts (there few prompts submitted even as the "quotes")! However some of them were very similar or repeating, so to make it easier to navigate, I merged certain prompts together.
For example, there were prompts like "family" and "found family", so instead I put only "family" on the prompt list. Everyone can interpret it in their own way.
Some people nominated AU prompts, and I've made similar decision here. There is only listed "alternate universe" prompt, because everyone can do this prompt in whatever AU they want. I don't want anyone to feel forced to do something in the AU they don't like, so everyone will have freedom to do whatever AU they want.
Link to voting:
Choose only 12 prompts, no more, no less. You have one week to vote, form will be closed on 3rd June, 18:00 CEST.
Tag list (let me know if you want to be added or removed): @dukeoftheblackstar @tealmisthams @whyamismall @ezekiel13 @star-wars-lycanwing-bat @aknightreaderr @swfandomevents @lonewolflupe @dizzy-9906

KELDEORIN'YAA WORD OF THE DAY!
Sometimes called LAEVERINE ORGANS (or LEVIN'YAA) by other races, KOLMI are external cranial structures many creatures on Dor'in possess - not just Kel' Dor. In many evolutionary instances, they actually replace functional eyes.
Kolmi are extremely sensitive appendages, attaching at their base right into the hindbrain. Individuals have the capacity to react at lightning speed to any stimulus they register, hence the lightning-fast physical reflexes Kel' Dor are known for. They vary slightly in placement, size and shape from person to person. Like earlobes, they can be attached to the head - versus detached - at the posterior of the horn. Detached ones (like their two tusk protrusions) are capable of some movement and augment expressions of emotion. If the soft tissues of these are surgically removed or altered in any way, the natural sensitivities (empathic and telepathic) of the individual are terminated, unplugging them from "the collective," the "great family" of Mother Dor'in. These individuals are regarded as pariahs and outcasts, for naturally detaching from the "group" in this way is considered dangerously antisocial behavior.
A note on the tusken protrusions below the Kolmi ... Many off-world folks are surprised to learn that both horns are hollow and have a tiny opening at the end to allow for both respiration (the SUPERIOR/upper horn) and ingurgitation of (liquid) food (the INFERIOR/lower horn). The SUPERIOR horn functions like a snorkel when a Kel' Dor is diving/hunting (they are descendants of Estuary predators who lived on the ancient mudflats of Dor'in). Many of them still breathe orally AND via these extrusions at the same time.
There are still questions about the function of the lower tusks (even among modern Kel' Dor biologists). It is thought the inferior tusks evolved for hunting soft bodied prey like URCHINS (plentiful then as now - and still a delicacy), allowing them to pierce the exoskeleton and then siphon out the prey's soft insides - while the superior tusks continued breathing above the surface.
Note: altering the tusks is NOT considered dangerous or aberrent, nor does it affect respiration or ingurgitation. Offworld Kel' Dor frequently do. Tusks simply do not fit comfortably into Antiox masks, is all.
I wish I could find the story that referred to these organs as LAEVERINE ORGANS. I will find it again someday (@plokoonsdisapprovingeyebrows - I think you mentioned the author once upon a time; I will look for that post). I just want to give credit where credit is due, is all😎
For all of my new readers: Keldeorin'yaa is not my creation, but the brainchild of the stupendous aforementioned @plokoonsdisapprovingeyebrows. They also created the head-canon about Kel' Dor being descendants of estuary predators, which I love.
If you have not perused their Keldeorin'yaa Conlang Dictionary you really need to do it. It's GREAT. Experience it here:

KELDEORIN'YAA WORD OF THE DAY!
Some of the clan teens are helping demonstrate the word of the day! Little LANN (this name means CLOUD and is a common given name) is a newly minted one - he just lost the last vestiges of his 'marsupioid' tail last month, and he's very happy to join the gang.
The red pouches on the side of the girl MIK (which means BERRY, bringing up the rear of the group) are a great idea brought to you by author @HARPOKRATES from An Archive of Our Own. Kel' Dor store excess blood helium in sacs between their ribs, which resemble large blisters. Everybody has them. I'm not 100% sure I'll keep them on my Kay'Dees long term; I like them ATM though. The origin story is "Take My Heart, But You Won't Feel it," if you're interested.
I'm working on some Dor'in pet ideas, and this is the most recent one. A flightless bird with a mop of hairlike feathers on its melon (echolocation cranial protrusion) through which two kolmi-like horns protrude. They are eyeless like so many creatures on Dor'in and possess an odd neck that shrinks and elongates like Kolmi protrusions on a Kel' Dor. I have no idea what they're called yet, and the design is evolving. Stay tuned for more pet ideas - and feel free to chime in with your own!
It's nice to be back. It's been quite a year, and I've missed Tumblr immensely. Hope you have all been well ❤️

DOR'SHAN LOOKS!
CELEBRATING THE WEEKEND with the kids of Dor'shan 😎
Continuing with INKTOBER!
So, what do the kids of Dor'in get up to on the weekends? I often ask myself that question, so here are some of their many adventures. Part of a series of Dor'Shan Looks exploring that subject. Enjoy!
@plokoonsdisapprovingeyebrows has been updating The Keldeorin'yaa Conlang Dictionary and there are MAAAANY words in there now that work as names. Here are the ones I used this time:
GESINYA - "Aurora." / LAO - "Rain." / AN - "SIX" (Remember that character from 'Blossom?' Likely her birth order number in the family.) / GAN - "Three." Likely his birth order number in the family. / TOL - "Meteor." / YOIVU - "Omen." (PROBABLY A NICKNAME) / DIDI - Short for "Didibit", which means "little thing." Meant as a pet name for small children (PROBABLY A NICKNAME). / AGAL - "STICK, TWIG" (PROBABLY A NICKNAME) / HASSAO - "Sky" / NAWA - "Wing." / RIAM - "Snow." / KUBIKUK - "Murmur, mumble." Somehow I think the former would have been the intention.
YANSSIGIR - These are, "Whaleseal; the largest predator in Dor'in's oceans, a cold-adapted diving predator with grasping claws on its front flippers, reaching up to 15 M in length."
You can see preserved specimens of all of Dor'in's marine life at The Dor'shan Oceanarium.

DOR'SHAN LOOKS
BACK - TO - SCHOOL!
HAPPY FIRST DAY OF OCTOBER!
That means Inktober is upon us 😍 Anyone have anything planned?
What a wild and crazy August and September it was! Feels so nice to be back at it.
As usual, I have integrated a number of words from the KELDEORIN'YAA CONLANG DICTIONARY... This time, as name choices.
keldeorinyaa conlang dictionary - Google Sheets
@plokoonsdisapprovingeyebrows IS (I THINK you said anyway) compiling a list of common words that are also common names. I tend to pick my own, if they feel like they would work. The ones used above are -
TAMA - "Flower"/ ITTAO - "Frost"/ MATEN - "Hope"/ MAKSOH - "Dream"/ ANN - "Sky"/ KHULOONE -"Cute, charming; refers to inanimate objects or people you would like to date." A nickname - and if he kept it, clearly the guy thinks he is HOT. KOOSSI - "Nectar." The nectar they collected was once used for "Forcing the Force;" it was outlawed generations ago, and the powers-that-be put many of its clanspeople to death for heresy at the time. They have never forgotten this. Even their speeder license plates reflect this. They display the equivalent of "CLAN KOOSSI - Je Me Souviens" (I remember). Like Quebec license plates, here in Canada.
Do check out the dictionary! It's the bestest! Sometimes when I am needing a little decompression I will camp out there and just read a bit. Thanks, Eyebrows!!
Hugs, all!

KELDEORIN'YAA WORD OF THE DAY
TRANSLATION -
"My dearest child! Can you say MOMMA? MOM-MAH?
"Mmmm! The soup is yummy, isn't it? Can you say soup? SOOOOP?
"Can you say my little nonsense baby? Shit. Maybe that's too hard..."
"SHIT!!"
ERTAANHI - "MY DEAREST CHILD."
SASKA - WORD FOR ONE'S OWN MOTHER, SPECIFICALLY.
RIYI - TO SPEAK (Vb.)
TVOISI - SOUP
TVALAZA - YUMMY
DAKIDAKAANHI - "MY LITTLE NONSENSE BABY"
NIN ARAKOV'NE ZE NYI - MAYBE TOO DIFFICULT, THAT IS.
KYA - THIS IS PLACED AT THE END OF A SENTENCE TO TURN IT INTO A QUESTION... A VERBAL QUESTION MARK.
VEK - SHIT
Seeing as I've been away for a bit, I figured a full-on language lesson might be in order.
Here we go!
I must confess, I have a thing for Kel' Dor youngsters. Who doesn't?
Everyone who has kids (or kid brothers and sisters) 100% HAS HAD this happen to them. Dadaa is supposedly easier to say than Momma... but apparently ANY swear word you can think of is easier than either of them. We weren't allowed to swear as kids, or even teens - but they didn't have to hear us to know we did, because our newly verbal baby sister (in particular) would do things like point at us at dinner exclaiming "Sit! Sit!!" (which was SHIT). Or, after she got a little vocabulary under her belt, would be waking them up at 3 AM saying things like "Dammit, Mummy -wake up!" Or, "Fuck! My bottle!" (as it dropped out of her crib). Ah, the memories 😬
I love the formal way KD's speak. Keldeorin'yaa is very unembellished and literal. Yet their endearments for their little ones are utterly precious.
Mum will have some explaining to do at dinner, I think.
I can hear it all the way from here. "Vek, Vekkk!"
Explore all the language - and all the language rules - here! keldeorinyaa conlang dictionary - Google Sheets
...by the one and only @plokoonsdisapprovingeyebrows.
Have a cool day! - KC
