i know you said it was very coarse but i think it's so perfect...

you capture the characters so well and it really is exactly how i envisioned it in my mind: not just the conversation, of course, but the details of it, the close-up of jaekwan and choi’s conversation (LOL…jaekwan’s text)… the way that choi looks at grapes… grapes sweating as they sit in silence… grapes’ bag in his lap, the glimpses of choi’s scar here and there, and of course all of the shots that have their respective expressions slightly out of frame…

my favorite ones have to be the ones where choi goes “aren’t you?” where you can’t see choi’s eyes but you can see grapes set up so he’s behind choi’s body, his bag in his lap, and he’s looking at choi… also love the close-up where kse is looking at choi and choi goes “why are you looking at me like that?” with the close up on the lower half of his face and his scar YEAH. YEAH… you get it… immediate tears

thank you so much for the art i really have no words to express how grateful and lucky i feel right now… it’s incredible to think that you enjoyed my story in the first place, but i’ve never been ambitious enough to think that i might receive something like this! the car conversation was one of the hardest parts to write in anglerfish, but i ended up really liking it, and to know that other people liked it too… T_____T i don’t know… no other words except for you’re a god anon…a god…

No, he couldn't. Certainly not like this. He's out of his mind, Kim Soleum; he's hardly even listening, his fingers reaching for Braun, trying to grasp thin air and drag himself closer to heat, touch, anything to stifle the lust that Braun has been carefully stoking inside of him and then letting go of before it can blaze out of control. He's desperate. He's gagging for it.

thank you, anon !!! what a lovely thing to say <3 not quite the same (in case i ever want to write it), but i spoke about how 192-194 influenced my writing of choi briefly with a friend earlier so i'll just copy paste what i said here. warnings for length and spoilers under the cut, and i hope it satisfies your curiosity somewhat:

i've always been obsessed with how choi canonically is like i really thought even though you were from daydream i thought we could protect you and take you in because you care so much and work so hard and i was like grapesie can really become a part of our team etc etc etc even though choi at that point is following the guy and i kind of wanted to mirror that here, specifically, like i wanted (my) choi to have that sort of flipfloppiness…obviously he (himself) thinks he's doing well, but i don't think that (my) choi knows how to operate well in the absence of suspicion even when he's giving someone a "chance"; imo he settles more at the end with more proof of how kse responds to him now (more genuinely because kse is like why is this named character being so weird). being around bronze is also bad because he's 1) like you said emulating the guy and 2) trying to seek bronze's validation and 3) (really complicated rship dynamic problems that i invented for some reason instead of making the ship i like happy***) really wanted to have unreliable narratorisms where he's like everything is fine now. im settled. im normal. im not going to test the guy anymore im just going to tease him a bit here and there While Actively Testing The Guy… and not being normal but i think, conversely, as much as choi tries to settle into that, like, acceptance of grapes potentially being good, you can also see the paradox of his improving condition in the prev chapter with the following: Loss is an inevitability; you don't have to be a prophet to know that much. Still, he keeps going. There's nothing else to it. Life's all about sucking it up. You can't just stop caring about those around you because they'll die. If there's flesh and blood it'll bleed; you can't turn a heart off when it's still beating. where having something, for choi, is directly connected to losing it so the happier and surer and more certain a thing seems to be the more choi is like, what's the catch though... ***i talked about it before but choi uses rjk as a reference of base moral good and therefore whenever choi notices a difference between himself and rjk it drives in the idea that choi is Not Good… additionally touched on in the scene with his senior but the similar idea where like choi is like older and arguably Going Through Things + bronze is so Young And Promising And Good! Don't Make It Hard On Him where choi, like choi suspects ("you should do this with someone nice") is not suited to rjk / hence choi reaching out to rjk for reassurance, being like, look, i'm good…i did it (by emulating you, a good person)…im not really menacing him like that anymore = i'm worthy of you subliminal messaging. now i dont think rjk is operating on the same multilayer thinking i really think rjk is just like can this guy (my boyfriend) stop menacing our coworker who i really think is great. so its really like (guy sending signals with his mind) (guy with a tinfoil hat to block out the signals)….

The contents must look fairly standard at first, because he doesn't look any less perplexed at the sight of it, though that changes quickly: white printer paper, no photos, just text, handwritten, which is strange, but not that strange. A sticky note pasted here and there, the edges beginning to curl, a sticker pasted to the page here and there. Choi's looping handwriting, the vague imprint of where he'd sketched a doodle against the folder and then erased it at the urging of an imaginary Bronze in his head. He knows when Grapes' read it because of how his expression shifts. A hot flash of satisfaction curls in his stomach.

i loved reading the notes behind ch1! its really amazing how you put so much thought behind each paragraph... i really want to kidnap your choi and let him run hamster wheels in my brain... (he already is!)

i know that every author's approach and interpretation of both the characters and how to set up a story is different, and i really love hearing other people talk about theirs; it's fun to know that people have fun reading mine too (makes me want to do one for the next chapters). and i'm glad you're enjoying my choi! i have so much love for canon choi and only want to give him the best fic i can, LOL; i'm far from done with him yet, and look forward to writing much more of him to the future.

i am in love with how in anglerfish choi so desperately wants to crack kse open to understand him but also cant bring himself to truly do it. like once he gets close enough it becomes too familiar and earnest to actually interrogate him on his story. its so good. also the authors gdoc is so cool to read pls talk more

Choi wants to trust him. It's a dangerous thing, the wanting. He gets why Jaekwan talks about Grapes so much, why he's so considerate of him in the workplace: why Jaekwan tells the other agents to look after their team's youngest when they happen to cross paths. He's just — easy. He's easy to like, easy to care for; it's easy to reserve three spots at the lunch place near their office without thinking about it, walking in with his fingers already held up. The waitress still asks if it'll be two of them, thinking of him and Jaekwan, but Choi's already gotten used to that three. Choi's been in the bureau for a long time. He's seen desks empty and people move out; he's seen dorms empty and people move in. There's a scent to inevitable death, if you know it: powdery and strange, oddly, sickeningly sweet. Sometimes Choi looks at people and smells it, the way that sometimes people catch the scent of something and taste it clinging to their tongue. Choi looks at people and sees their shadow, their emptied silhouette; the first thing he'd thought, seeing Grapes in action, was, God, it'll be impossible to replace him.
