The first opportunity to talk to my boss, he tells me: "Juan you will be the one in charge of the new virtual production studio", to which I said to myself: “heck, it's serious: I'll take over a twelve thousand square meter studio, and I'll have the cameras at my disposal cargo and lights for camera tests ”. To which he answers me Yes!. And you will necessarily have to improve your level of English.

At that moment I feel really happy but also a deep terror, since my biggest weakness is post-production. And in the area of ​​virtual production, it's vital that you know how to handle programs such as UNREAL ENGINE, Disguise and the entire 3D modeling package and Adobe.

In addition to logistically planning the organization of the studio and seeing the Mandolorian series from Star Wars since it works with these platforms, the idea is very simple to offer the live rendering system, and you will wonder how the hell that happens.

The first step that you must take into account is that we are the first studio in Colombia that is specializing in VFX, Croma Key composition and LED screens. It really is very complex since I am talking about that we are on a learning curve. You will wonder why the name of this blog. Eyes Without Eyelids, who has the idea of having eyes without eyelids. That was the first thing I thought when I heard this phrase, I was 16 years old, in the first Cine Club that I attended near my house in the chaotic, noisy, and musical city of Bogotá.

The Cine Club belongs to the Communist Youth of Colombia, better known by its acronym in Spanish - JUCO. Beyond the political positions, it was a magical place and there I saw for the first-time film directors like Fellini, Godard, Tarkovsky, Kubrick, among others. It was the first time that rock music came into my life in all its latitudes. It was the first time that I fell in love with audiovisuals. Sometimes I wonder why I felt led to study history, and why I did not persist in the field of photography.

It was only four years ago that I decided to enter this world that I am passionate about, and re-register everything that is around me, exploring various techniques. The first one that I love and love with madness, for the color degradation, is the cross development or C - Forty-one, which is a process of choosing a 35mm or 120mm slide roll, there are several brands, but in my personal case, I like Kodak, but Fuji is fucking great for its quality in the color gradient. As I mentioned, it is a chemical process in which the slide becomes negative to give the colors with a high contrast and gives you an old-vintage reflection, remarkably similar Technicolor.

That if you must be very delicate when measuring the light, since sometimes when you reveal the result, it fails to convince you, since the objective you were capturing may be in blur "unless that is the intention", or you can find a very well-lit field. In my case, I love playing both in low-light fields and forcing the sensitivity of the ASA 100 200 film, increasing it to 400 or 800 sensitivity, and it depends on if I want to take a portrait or a double exposure. I would like you to explore one of my great references par excellence who is Nan Goldin. Her technique of capturing portraits and capturing spaces is wonderful, she uses the technique based on color palettes or Pantone of space. I really would not know how to explain that part to you, since I am in a stage of exploration and, of course, of learning. However, I recommend that you watch it and try to explore.

In my personal case, a photograph is a ballad, a tune, a sonnet, it may sound very ridiculous, but for me it is true. You see, every time I go out on the street, if with the protection measures for Covid 19 it sucks, I feel like there is a whole world to explore, small frames and fractals pass through my head where there is a condensed story that you can to through photography. But hey, I came to talk about what I am passionate about and not to give political opinions of my country, which is so convulsed at this time.
