            “ i said that she’s perfect aside from not having common sense. if she had common sense she wouldn’t let people step all over her. or… ” no, it was more of a self-value issue than a common sense one. they both knew that.moving on. “ …she is a fantastic role model. she busts her ass every day just to make me happy. she works so hardand she gets barely anything out of it. i couldn’t think of a better role model if i tried. ”

           “ don’t turn this on me like you’re some kind of victim here. you’re not. maybe at one point you were, but that’s not on me and you’re definitely not now. ” he’d been feeling a little guilty before, but that feeling was gone. theo wasn’t like eve; he could see through an act like this. “ bullshit you don’t actively seek her attention. you god damn near busted our door down once because she didn’t answer it fast enough. you didn’t have to do that. you didn’t have to come over at all. she didn’t even invite you that time. ”

          “ most monsters wouldn’t waste their time manipulating someone like her, would they? you’re on a wholedifferent level. ”

“you’re blind due to the fact she is your sister and she gives you whatever you want. like a spoiled child. i’m sure you take her for granted many times without even realizing it,” he insisted, poking buttons he hoped. “once again i wouldn’t look up to someone who works hard and gets nothing in return for it. a poor lifestyle decision.” alexander laughed softly. “i guess you’re brighter than your sister. she would have felt guilty right away and tried to make it up to me as if it were her fault i was upset.” the boy shrugged his shoulders when he mentioned the door. “i forget my own strength at times.” an obvious lie, but he would go with that for now. “she can at times, be comforting company.” his excuse for showing up uninvited. “she would not tell me no.” unless it came to this brat.  “i’m not quite sure you know how monsters work. you’re still very naive, just like her. but it’s endearing. i am a bit jealous. i wish i still had the same naivety towards life.”

            theo knew he was pushing alexander’s buttons and he was loving every minute of it. even if that murderous look was almost enough to have him backing down. as much as the teen tried to act like he didn’t have a heart hedid and deep down somewhere he was feeling a little guilty. however, this was about eve and, to be fair, alexander had started pushing theo’s buttons first.

            “ at times? eve is a role model. the perfect human being. well, if she had a little more common sense she’d be perfect. ” seeing the vampire calm actually concerned him more than anything. shit, his words were backfiring on him already. that was fast. “ beyond anyone else’s help, but maybe not beyond your own. you could always prove me wrong and, i don’t know, stay the fuck away from my sister. fight your disgusting, animalistic nature for once. ”

“she is far from perfect,” he corrected. no one was perfect. he fully believed that much. “i doubt she’s a very good role model. i wouldn’t like to look up to someone who lets other step all over her for a living.”  that sounded a bit pathetic and something eve might say to him. he laughed a bit louder this time. “you’re treated like something long enough, you become it. perhaps it is people like you who believe i have no heart, which makes me the ‘ monster ‘ i am today.” very false. he’s just pulling a very bad pity card. it even had him laughing at how pathetic the idea was. “your sister just seems to find her way to me. i don’t actively seek her attention. she just happens to be there. i would love to see your efforts if placed in my shoes. i think it would be quite amusing. it’s my nature after all. it’s not something monsters are known for fighting against.”

            the flicker of irritation did not go missed by the teen, his own irritation subsiding just a little to allow his lips to curl into a smirk. he wasn’t sure how he’d managed to press one of the vampire’s buttons, but he could only hopedesperately that he’d managed to do it again. “ as if your baby face has any charm? at least i’ll eventually grow out of mine. ”

            “ pathetic and helpless is far too annoying. i wonder what is so different about eve, then? ” he’s not letting it go. ever. “ as long as you’re having fun then i guess that’s all that matters, right? screw everyone else. especiallythose who try to help you. right? ”

another button pressed which would result in a tense jaw and a near need to strangle this kid before he opened his mouth again. as if he had a choice in the matter of forever remaining in this stupid childish body.  “who knows. her persistence on change can be admirable at times though.” he took a moment to relax, though if looks could kill, the vampire probably would have murdered a small town by now. alexander shrugged his shoulders with a smirk of his own. he’s calm. calmer. “well isn’t it like you said? anyone with a brain could see i am beyond help. i can’t possibly fight my own nature.”

            it wasn’t hard to irritate him in the first place, but hearing alexander talk about eve that way was enough to send him into a fiery anger. “ that’s because she doesn’t think she deserves any better you prick. god, i thought iwas bad. i’d ask how you could live with yourself, but you’re not, technically. ” the usual monotone of his wasgone. “ i don’t know what it is she sees in you. anyone with a brain can tell you’re beyond help. ”

            “ i didn’t know monsters were so picky with their diet. noted. so what is your type then? pathetic and helpless? real nice. ”

“oh i suppose you’re just as terrible, though i imagine your damage is much more mental than it is physical.” ok. he had to laugh. “technically. depending on your definition of living.” oh. a button was pressed and a flicker of irritation was given. “unfortunately that doesn’t seem to be the case. though maybe because you are younger, the baby face loses its charm.”  “even monsters have their limits. pathetic and helpless is far too annoying. it’s much more fun when they think they have a chance at fighting back. after all most assume they can overpower a child.”

            “ what do you have to gain from anything? what do you have to gain from fucking with my sister? ” he was already feeling increasing levels of irritation, but it didn’t show in his tone. “ to answer your simple question: yes. iam worried. i’d like to get home eventually before i starve to death and you feast on my corpse. ”

“to satisfy a hunger. which i suppose can be the same answer as to why i associate myself with your sister. honestly, i didn’t expect her to live as long as she has. most people like her annoy me and i can’t help myself. she seems to be a special case.” alexander shrugged his shoulders slightly. “she’s still quite welcoming despite the scars i’d given her.” now he’s just trying to irritate him further. “and you’re not exactly my type. don’t flatter yourself.”

            “ yeah? a little? ” he didn’t think they had to be home right now, but he did eventually want to go back. leave eve unattended for an extended period of time? no. “ you’re fucking kidding me, right? ”

“pathetic,” was all he replied with at first. wasn’t he a little young to be using such distasteful language. really. “what would i gain on kidding with you. it was a simple question.”

            in truth eve was always a little unnerved in his presence. she would feel a little more at ease if she could at least identify what sorts of things would cause him to snap. she never knew and it always came so suddenly; she’d have to be completely out of her mind to be entirely calm when they were together. this didn’t mean she was willing to give up on him, of course. there was someone good underneath all of…this. she knew there was. eve be frightened, but she was skilled at suppressing it most of the time.

            except for times like these; times where just how unstable he was came to a head. while the brunette managed to keep the tears at bay she still trembled in his grasp. there wasn’t a single ounce of fight in her as her doe-eyes bore into him, clearly intending to simply wait this out as her lips pressed into a thin line.

            “ i…b-because…– ” she wanted to defuse this, but that was unlikely. despite knowing being honest was probably only going to get her into deeper water it seemed like the best thing in the end. “ –because it’s…i-it’s okay. you’re not…y-you’re not bad, it’s just… ” her voice no more than a whimper, she tripped over her words just as much as she usually did. “ …this is just…a…a-a bad day. so…! s-so it’s okay– ”

            had she wanted to cry his words kept her from doing so eyes only welling up as she winced at the burning pain in her arm. “ i…i-i won’t. ” was that what he wanted her to do? she couldn’t tell. eve was nothing if notobedient, but it was tricky when she was unsure what exactly he wanted from her. “ i trust…t-trust you to…t-to stop…when you’re done. ”

she must be joking. she had to be joking. did she honestly believe all those stupid little things? that he was good? a childish laughter that was very much unnerving bubbled forth from the boy. “do you really think that? do you believe you are some sort of saint? you think you can somehow save everyone? you know what i’ve done. i’ve shown you things i’ve done and you brush it off as a bad day?” more laughter followed. “i wonder what the families of those i killed would think of you saying such things.” he spoke sharply, words like a knife he didn’t only abuse his physically, but attempted to emotionally as well. “i used to think that way. i would only kill bad people thinking i was doing good, but murder is murder. i was always bad. always this tainted being that never had a choice.” his tone was ice, spitting forth with such anger it was amazing how such a small frame could carry it. “do it. beg me to stop.” a blade was lifted only to create another long gash along her arm, the boy placing the knife down so that he could grab her wrist, holding her arm up and allowing that pretty crimson color to drip down her arm.  “i’ll be done when the life fades from those stupid innocent eyes and your lips turn blue. shall i wait until then?” the metallic tinge of her blood stung his senses. it was overwhelming and he wasn’t sure how he managed to control himself for this long. that control was short lived and the boy yanked her arm closer, lips parting so he wouldn’t waste anymore of her precious blood. spilling hers and letting it stain her clothing and his own, he considered it a waste.  her arm was brought to his lips, his mouth latching over the two gashes hungrily. there was nothing pleasant about a vampire’s bite. fangs could only pierce so much and the rest was just a painful bite with the occasional brush of his tongue to lap away at what might have escaped him.

unfortunately the boy had simple triggers towards a negative mood swing. she could laugh strangely and it would irritate him to no end. the period of time where his calmness was merely the eye of the storm and it was only a matter of time before the little vampire’s hunger was triggered.  she always smiled. she acted like this was okay and she forgave him, it was a norm for her and he didn’t like it. it should have been a warning sign the boy wanted to be so close to her, sitting beside her as if he wanted to hug and never let go. it had been peaceful between the two of them and yet, the boy still had his fingers wrapped around her throat, more out of frustration on her attitude towards her situation than a desire to play with his food. “why do you act like this is okay?” he dared to ask, though knowing whatever her answer was, it would make him even more angry. “you really are pathetic.” his voice was soft, barely above a whisper and his eyes gleamed with a hunger he had not felt for a long time. fasting was typical of the boy, but he never thought of using her to quench that burning thirst.  teeth and claw were not the only thing alexander limited himself to when it came to finding a meal. knives were quite common and the boy was more than happy to cut into soft flesh of her lower arm, wasting her precious blood as if he wasn’t starving. “you can cry and beg me to stop,” he offered, though there was no hint of kindness in those eyes. no chance he would offer her such luxury.

pierce the skin what sweet elixir. there was no sort of delicate manner in which alexander decided to feed. when he was hungry, it was violent and it was bloody. years of pent up rage lashed forth with every new meal and this one was no different. the unfortunate soul who was trapped beneath his grip only had a few more choked breaths, blood bubbling from their mouth. fingers dig into the wounded flesh of the woman’s throat caused by his own hands. he’d take note he wasn’t the only vampire and whether she was brought on by the smell of blood or just the presence of another. “desperate like a bottom feeder,” sounding a bit disgusted as the body fell at his feet. he didn’t make it clear he was speaking to her specifically, though she seemed to distract him enough from his meal.
