Tiny author of broken things. Professional liar. You can trust me, I only tell the truth.(I've probably written fanfics that are older than you. Sure I'm bi, but I'm demi and happily married, so don't be that guy.)

Anyway, daily reminder from a culturally isolated Romani person.
Gypsy does not mean wanderer.
It literally means ‘people from egypt’ or similar, as europeans believed Romani people were from Egypt. It has become known similar to nomad due to how our ancestors have been forced to be nomadic due to racism and ostracization, but it is a SLUR.
Romani people are STILL being forcibly sterilized.
Romani people are STILL being forced into ghettos.
Romani people are still facing violence and danger in countless European countries- and recently, I’ve seen the beginnings of the extremes in the United States.
Have a little fucking respect and DON’T USE A SLUR THAT’S BEEN USED FOR CENTURIES AGAINST US.
And for the love of whatever’s up there, ESPECIALLY do not use it to describe your witchcraft. It is playing on the ‘magic gypsy’ trope, and is EXTREMELY insulting.
non romani people, please reblog this.

I feel like if people put 1/10th the energy into showing love for oppressed people that they put into bragging about hating the oppressors then there would be a lot more safety to be had

Tl;dr how you can personally make Neil Gaiman lose money (and not be a jerk to others.)
I see a lot of folks upset that NG will financially benefit from residuals and other compensation surrounding his involvement in the adaptation of Sandman and Good Omens (and he will.) But the answer isn’t “rage at the fans who are so emotionally attached to their blorbos because they grieve differently, and then somehow NG will be financially punished.” That’s lower-class/middle-class thinking. NG is too rich and financially diversified to really be hurt by little boycott or a couple of show cancellations (though said cancellations can cause life-changing poverty to the little guys who signed contracts and turned down other opportunities before all of this came out. Boy does NG love women in poverty 🤮)
So if you want to substantially reduce the wealth of someone at NG’s financial level—you need to do it with professional services fees.
Details below the cut:
The firm that NG has apparently engaged for online reputation management (ORM), called edendale, was once paid for their professional testimony in an unrelated slander lawsuit, which was delivered in the form of a report (2) outlining the strategy ORM firms use and (2) just how ludicrously expensive those professional services cost. (Credit to horrornobody77 for digging up the report.) We’re talking hundred of thousands of dollars for a small potatoes case, where NG’s could easily get into the millions for ORM and associated legal fees.
It’s not that long of a read, but to summarize the key action items you can take:
📆 -ORMs wait for the discourse to die down, because active discourse is much more expensive to counter. Wanna cost NG money? Talk about the accusations over time. Set a quarterly calendar event in your phone to remind yourself to post (and otherwise engage on other people’s posts) about the Vulture article. This needs to happens for years, so that NG has to pay for more comprehensive ORM and for longer.
✅-Make discourse that is Google-friendly. Use the words edendale will find concerning (they’re already running fluff pieces with the terms Neil Gaiman Uncovered to try and bury the similarly named subreddit.) If you just post a link without much comment, it’s not gonna be prioritized by search engines. Similarly, if you make a low effort post and then no one else engages with it—it’s not going to make it to the top ten search results. Engage with each other, for heaven’s sake!
🦾-Don’t let the fluff sit unaddressed. If you see random bot posts sharing NG quotes captioning random fantasy art (possibly AI or misattributed /stolen) with the comments turned on? Respond! Make it hard for the bots to understand your comment but easy for humans. “Nice quote! Mega bummer about what NG did, I used to really like him,” is hard for a bot to auto-delete. “Fuck NG,” is practically doing the bot’s autodelete command for it.
✍️ -If/when you post fan works for properties strongly related to Neil Gaiman, leave a lil callout in the author’s notes. Nothing that will get you sued, just a few words like: “I would definitely personally choose to not ever meet Neil Gaiman at a comic con.” Maybe throw in a link to your fav tumblr summary.
Anyway, to the person being paid hundreds or thousands of dollars per hour by Neil Gaiman for professional services—you’re welcome for the extra billable hours 😘
Also Edendale sounds like a law firm in a Good Omens legal AU fic, and I can’t believe it’s real.

Oh. Well. That explains a lot. It's like a roadmap to my entire dating history, including how I got married.
The pressure from everyone I knew. The pressure from guys. Even when I said I'm done with men, I want to date only women, but I could never really figure out how. Hell, every friend I've made just sort of happened. I don't know how to make friends, which I put on the main character of my book series and boy does that feel awkward.
Yep. I'm not gonna ruminate too hard on this one. I refuse.
...what the fuck even is a friend...?
One of the reasons that many autistic women get turned away from a diagnosis is that they are in a romantic relationship. how could she possibly have a disability related to social dysfunction? she was socially skillful enough to attain one of the primary goals of a woman's life, she has a partner! what this ignores is that for women, especially autistic women, getting into a relationship is something that can just straight up be done to you without you taking any action at all or even really consenting to it. Men approach women, involve themselves in women's lives, push women to give them attention and spend time with them, begin forming expectations around the woman's availability to them based simply on having been around her a lot before, and every individual in the woman's life will typically encourage her to grant the man a chance and get into a relationship with him, and will begin asking her questions and forming assumptions that push that relationship further along. when are you two going to move in together? surely you want to have kids! well of course he wants to spend a lot of time with you, you're dating! and so in fact a person who is disempowered due to misogyny and who is also extremely passive and socially confused due to autism can actually be even more likely to wind up into a relationship or always to be in one. hell a great many autistics say that they didn't even choose their friendships at all, those friendships just happened to them by virtue of proximity and sufficient pushiness (or interest) on the part of the friends! so it's actually very easy for an autistic woman, no matter her degree of social skills or ability to neuro conform, to wind up in a relationship.

Questions I think to myself a lot when confronted with certain kinds of Online Posting:
Do you want a better world, or do you want revenge on those you think aren’t doing enough to improve it?
Do you want a more just world, or do you want to see bad people suffer merciless punishment?
Do you want a less oppressive world, or do you want the reins of power for yourself?
Do you want to do the right thing, or do you want to feel righteous?

End of an era-ish?
I've had this tumblr for more years than I care to admit, and I've had anon asks open the entire time.
Until tonight.
Sorry y'all, I just got really sick of the bot spam begging for a reblog and money. You know the one. Random emojis, a C&Ped sob story that says the same thing in every single one, and some random account to send people to.
So fucking lame. I'm 50, not 15, I'm too old for this shit. Or too young, since I'm not losing my mind to dementia...yet.
But, I never really got use out of that function, so it's no big deal. A much younger version of myself daydreamed that I'd have shy fans ask me about my fanfics, or my books someday, and they'd feel more comfortable being anonymous. But, well, that never happened. I was disappearing from fandom when I jumped from LJ to here, and my books are slowly gaining traction but really only among people in Arizona who have already met me and got their books signed. (I love those people, they're the best, but book events are no real method of going viral. lmao) That, and I don't exactly have a name that's linked to my currently published works, so only my friends really know it's me.
So, no anon. It's too spammy and annoying. I keep getting my hopes up every time I see an alert, for nothing. /cry
Now people have to be brave and accountable for their words. Ha!

and to be clear NaNoWriMo closing is genuinely really sad. I've just already done my grieving for it. I wish it hadn't happened this way, but NaNo's fall was determined as soon as Kilby took over.
A lot of MLs did take off and make their own groups though. If any participants are reading this who want to continue NaNo participation, check out the reddit!! Lots of people did it from there and many former volunteers for the org are there and if you ask "is anyone from my region still doing nano" I bet you'll get some replies, or find someone doing it in discord.
Keep writing! NaNoWriMo was us, it wasn't HQ.

Joe "The Mighty Atom" Greenstein was a strongman known for biting through nails, bending horseshoes, and general badassery.
In 1939, he saw a sign in NYC that said, "No dogs or Jews allowed." He tore it down.
The Nazis who had been meeting inside cam out and attacked him.
He sent 18 of them to the hospital.
At his trial, he told the judge, "It wasn't a fight. It was a pleasure." The judge dismissed the charges against him.
