I had heard that I it was going to be a big day.  And it was.  Let me back up.  One of the many lessons we have learned since arriving in Atlanta is that the people leave for the summer.  Literally, a children’s ministry of 500-600 drops to 128 kids total during the summer months!  Crazy.  So when they said today would be BIG. The kick off weekend.  The weekend after labor day.  They meant it.  And today I was privileged to experience it.  EVERYONE comes back – all on one day.  We had 788 kids in children’s ministry!!  More then that, the buzz, the energy, the Spirit tangible in the air – at one point I was trying to make my way through the crowd and became overwhelmed with emotion from the call on my life.  To be what God designed me to be to these people before me.  I actually had to suck it up because I didn’t want to look teary eyed – too hard to explain.  But it was powerful. I look forward to experiencing the Love of God on a new level here – it is SO high , SO wide, SO long and SO deep…only a taste will I touch here and share with others! (The series we have been in from Ephesians!)

First day of school

Lunches are made, breakfast is planned, backpacks are stuffed, kids are sleeping...tomorrow is the first day of 7th for Sophie, 5th for Abby and 4th for Lindy! Hard to believe. We prayed long tonight for the teachers, friends, classes, bus rides and most importantly that they would see God. Then as the year unfolds he would show us why we are here. Hear our prayers, O Lord.
