notes: spoilers for post-realizing mac ending! not beta-read. spontaneous work, wrote it in one shot. english is not my first language, my apologies for any mistake in advance. also listen to virtual angel by artms! it inspired my work, I associate that song with mac.

Your house was a fortress, but in this world there was nothing stronger than the walls that you built around yourself to avoid injury, heartbreak, disappointment and bitter tears. If you forget for a moment that all the objects in the house saw your lonely everyday life, you were really alone with your thoughts and feelings, storing them somewhere so deep that you forgot about them yourself. It was easy to play dumb with myself and the four walls.

The firing was the last blow. You felt like drowning in a bag around the head – the puddle is not deep, but you are already choking, and the water is dirty, and the bag sticks to the face like a second skin while the sun burns in an attempt to melt your personal ice around the heart. Your house is colder than a kennel on the side of the road, the walls are covered with an invisible crust of ice that grows like pus in a torn wound caused by an uneven nails and bruises.

And then these mysterious glasses appeared in your life, and your house came to life. To get attached to someone meant to condemn yourself to another short-lived happiness to suffer after letting go of someone so dear to your heart. But who would have known that the furniture in your house would teach you something as precious as the ability to love and be loved? Friendship, the fluttering feelings of blooming love – all of this was always yours, remember?

You watched as everyone found their body and heart within the walls of your house. They all promised to visit, never to forget, and you believed. How could it be otherwise?

In the end, it took you time to get used to the steady breathing next to you, the arm wrapped around your waist, and the new routine you shared with someone. You looked at the new clock on the wall, waiting for someone to return from work. You were no longer alone. Every time you thought they would leave, they always came back. Their salary as a top analyst in a giant company would be enough for a new house with all the amenities, a trip to the sea with warm, warm water, another computer and a possible move to a country with a milder climate and clean air. Mac has enough freedom – and they're also free with you, which you find extremely strange.

Everyone’s gone. They were the only ones left.

At night, on a wide new bed, Mac usually fell asleep first. The window was always open, the thin curtain was always beating against the glass. Your thoughts were filled with anxiety again today – you don't know if it's the air conditioner that's making such an annoying noise or if your fear has taken on new colors. Of course, you know that no one will replace a mac with a computer – the very idea seems humorous. Ridiculously hilarious and hilariously ridiculous. You calm down your concern for their future until a new question is born in your subconscious.

You roll over out of habit, noticing that Mac isn't sleeping today either. They look at you lazily, and their hand, in a well-established tradition, finds your hair, stroking it gently and warmly.

"Can't sleep again?" They ask, looking into your eyes.

Without their glasses and after a long shift, they look so funny, like a tired cat from the videos they love to send during the breaks.

"It seem you can’t sleep either," you reply, moving closer to them to embrace them tightly.

Mac wraps their free arm around your waist, enjoying the silence. If they were asleep, Mac would have taken over the bed, and you would have intertwined your fingers with theirs, falling asleep slowly, sweetly, just as you fell in love with them.

"You stayed," you whisper in a drowsy wonder. "Why?"

And perhaps you were waiting for a long explanation, the kind that Mac loves — they're talkative, fond of discussing many topics, capable of speaking for hours on end, interspersing each paragraph with flirtatiousness or double entendres.

"Because I don't want to leave. I want to be with you. Because I love you more than anything in the world,” they answer.

And that's enough, you think. You think about how much you love them when they are like this, and you hold him closer. Of course, you don't blame those who left, and you wish them all the best. But you remember the day when Mac became a human, and letting them go felt like a heartbreak. They didn't leave.

"You never regret that..." Mac stops, their fingers tangling in your hair so gently. “That you realized me?"

You chuckle.

"I don't regret it," you reply, "and I never will."

Mac's embrace is a lifeline of gently lowered arms, a moment of silence before they finally return to old habits, whispering sweet nothingness in your ear, from silly jokes to references to terms that your brain doesn't understand, that no longer fit their new body, intertwined with flirtation, love, gratitude, and everything you'll find if you listen to their heartbeat for a moment. It all feels right.

Honestly yeah I didn’t really even blame them for wanting to see other ppl first 😭

It made me want to do a run where I waited until I had romanced everyone else before I came back to them, but I got impatient and just went back because Do I Wanna Know is my theme song and I come crawling back every time

Apparently some have an issue with Mac wanting an open relationship to figure out what they want before fully committing.

I think my only issue is you don't have the option to reject. HOWEVER

For one thing, unless you're playing a route where you don't romance anyone but them, you're literally doing the same thing.

Secondly, after the update they say how they can finally notice things, like your shirt. They just got opened up to a new world of colors and sights and they want to get a taste of other things before commiting to you.

I actually like this way because how many other games with romance allows you to date multiple people and have a harem, but they don't date anyone else unless you dumped them or didn't date them at all? I like this change of pace. Why is the player the only one allowed to look at others?

And at this point you two aren't dating yet. They're going out, figuring themselves out, probably thinking whether or not their feelings for you were just excitement at finally getting and upgrade, or if they were genuine.

Although deleting all your fanfic is bad. Like let us back it up at least!

Mackey, I just have to say thank you for doing such a job when running Baldur’s Gate 3. I know with all the mods I put in and amount of data that game has I know it isn’t an easy job, but you still happen to make the resolution and cutscenes look extremely clean, cinematic , and gorgeous while making the gameplay oh so satisfyingly fun. I wanted to let you know I appreciate all that you do and it would be great if there was some way to play together if that could ever happen. Assuming if you would like to join, possibly.

With all of the dodgy websites you download applications from, it can be a little tricky at times.

Somehow equally cool and lame, they're so fun to flirt with. It's a 50/50 chance whether they'll get flustered by what you say or fire back with something even sappier/more suggestive. You've gotta stay alert with this one.

They're such a big flatterer, too. Always talking you up for one thing or another (your skills, your appearance, your personality), you'll never doubt how cool they think you are.

Gaming dates! Movie dates! For obvious reasons, they are an extremely skilled gamer and will mostly likely wipe the board with you, but they're very cute when they get competitive, and whether you lose or win it just makes them love you more.

They're also a huge movie buff. Their favorites are older horror/sci-fi movies, but they're also super easy to influence, so they're likely to enjoy anything that you do. They're big on special effects, soundtracks, animation, and lighting/camera art, so don't be surprised if they start pointing out those little details of whatever you put on that you didn't even know about.

They love physical affection, especially receiving it. Holding hands, playing with their hair, kisses, hugs, cradling their face- anything you can think of, they're all over it.

They're such a sucker for your hands in general. They always get distracted watching them, especially if you tend to fidget. Tapping your fingers on the nearest surface, messing with your nails, cracking your knuckles- they eat it up in a perfectly normal way.

You will get so many messages from them every day, sorry not sorry. Most of the time it isn't even text, just links and videos that they think you'll enjoy, or that they found hilarious and had to send to you immediately.

They leave you a lot of voice memos as well. Most are only a few seconds long, little reminders or updates throughout the day, just to let you know they're thinking of you.

Mac cares a lot about your online health, so they're always looking out for your screen time and doom scrolling and gently encouraging you to take breaks to rest your eyes and brain. They're really good at helping you find other things to do if you're trying to spend less time on your electronics, and they know a lot of good stretches for your eyes, neck, and shoulders to help with any bad posture or aches you might be struggling with. They know the struggle of computer-inducted back and eye strain all too well.

They love having quiet moments with you. Both of you relaxing side-by-side, doing your own things, occasionally checking in and sharing info with each other. Mac's such a "gaming while my partner does their own hobby across the room" type of person. It's one of their favorite ways to spend time with you.

Mac from Date Everything is an innacurate wheelchair design, let's talk about it! Also, before anyone says, "they were going for a computer theme!" I am aware! That does not change that this is a bad design.

For anyone who does not know me, hello! I'm Solstice. I'm a full-time wheelchair user and functionally non-ambulatory. I know my way around a wheelchair considering I use one in my everyday life.

First off, Mac has a hospital style wheelchair. a hospital style is essentially any wheelchair you'd get or use in a hospital. I'd like to clarify that I know some disabled and chronically ill people use hospital style wheelchairs, but a lot of the time in media, depictions of wheelchair users show hospital style wheelchairs NOT for representation, but out of ignorance for active ultralightweight manual wheelchairs.

On the left is a Drive brand hospital style wheelchair. On the right is my personal custom wheelchair.

Mac's armrests are also disproportionate to the rest of the wheelchair. There are definitely people who have armrests on their custom wheelchairs! I have armrests but have taken them off, personally. The issue on Mac's wheelchair arises when their armrests are not only incredibly high, but their drive wheels (the big wheels in the back) are disproportionately small. And while on the topic of their drive wheels, they have no push rims, and no other features like a joystick to show that this is a power chair. The camber tube (tube between the two drive wheels under the seat of the chair) is also way too low. The camber tube goes towards the bottom of the wheel, not even the center of the wheels. Those drive wheels would be unable to roll.

Mac's castors are also very big. Castors can range in size but Mac's castors are so big I don't think that wheelchair could turn- the castors would hit either the footplates or the drive wheels! And with the castor assembly, Mac's castor has an axle system instead of a fork system. Those castors couldn't even turn because they can't freely swivel!

Mac's backrest looks hard and uncomfortable, and it's very tall. Some people need or opt to have high backrests, but this is not accurate to what a rigid backrest would be like. Mac also does not have a cushion, or a very tiny cushion, which would cause pressure sores and also just be uncomfortable.

I'd like to conclude that I hold no ill will towards the artist, designer, devs, fans, etc. But I did want to talk about this since Mac's wheelchair design feels like it wasn't researched much at all. I love that the devs wanted to include a disabled character, but you have to do research. I was really interested in playing this game but Mac's design really did turn me off from the game. I hope this is something that could potentially be amended.
