i remember when mdzs first came out and i didn't know shit about the genre yet, so my friend and i found it in a bookstore and she went "grandmaster of demonic cultivation???? what is 'cultivation'. google says it's practicing agriculture. how can you do that demonically." and i was like "farming evilly and deviously......"

anyways this exchange became ten times funnier when i read mdzs years later and got to the part where everyone thinks wei wuxian is establishing a horrible evil demonic sect with the wen remnants but he's actually just trying to farm so they don't starve. doing some straight up evil and demonic and devious farming.

ok - so i've had an idea about a very short fanfic comic (pretty cool exercice tbh)

(i obviously don't own mdzs - all rights belong to mxtx)

I think part of the reason I’m so obsessed with MXTX’s works is the way that each story seems to hold you gently as say “Your kindness mattered. It didn’t alleviate the suffering, it did not undo the pain. But your kindness mattered.”

Kindness could not erase Luo Binghe’s abuse, but it changed the story into a kinder one.

Kindness did not stop Wei Wuxian’s death, but it did save a-Yuan.

Kindness did not undo Xie Lian’s suffering, but it renewed his sincerity to help others.

Kindness did not change the entire world, but it helped create a softer future.

Its such a nice message, that maybe kindness will not protect you, maybe you don’t see the outcome of it, but you should still try to be kind, and I love that honestly.

There's a lot going on with Lan Xichen's angry speech to Wei Wuxian at the Guanyin Temple but what keeps sticking out to me is when wwx says he thought he somehow got back to Burial Mound by himself and Xichen scoffs like "it was you vs 3000 how tf could you just walk away from that" and wwx is like "so what did happen?" and Xichen's like "well Wangji grabbed you and then. just walked away from that"
